Fr example, 135 is fr China Mbile Cmmunicatins Crpratin and 188 is fr China Unicm. The furth t the seventh digits tell yu where the number is registered (注册). And the last fur digits are randm (随机的).
The main reasn fr using 11 digits is that we have the largest ppulatin in the wrld. We nce had 10 numbers. But as ur ppulatin grew, there were nt enugh numbers fr us t use. S we began t use 11 digits starting frm 1999. Eleven digits can be used t make tens f billins f mbile phne numbers. That's enugh fr each persn t have seven r eight phne numbers t use in China.
And mbile phne numbers can be recycled. Usually, the service prvider will reuse a canceled number after three t six mnths. If yu call a number that yu haven't cntacted (联系) fr a lng time, yu may find that its wner has changed.
Besides China, Britain and Japan als use 11-digit mbile phne numbers. But their numbers always start with 0. S they cannt create as many numbers as we can. Cuntries like the United States, Australia and India use phne numbers with 10 digits. Canada's mbile phne numbers are perhaps the shrtest in the wrld: they use seven digits.
