In the future, Bateng wants t braden the reach f his effrts t deliver medical services, nt nly t Ghana’s remte regins but als t ther natins acrss the glbe. “I believe that ur mdel can be cpied in Sub-Saharan Africa,” he said. “S, the gal is t really develp strategic partnerships and get additinal mbile health vans fr the cmmunities r the regins that we want t serve.”

Fr the past 20 years, I’ve searched libraries and the Internet fr thers wh are thinking abut the pssible effect f the breakdwn f multigeneratinal families. I’ve been surprised at hw few resurces exist n this tpic. It’s the main reasn I chse t finally write Family Revisin.
While I’ve expected ne f the cuntless marriage and family writers and thinkers t address this tpic, nne seem t really understand that the transitin (转变) frm multigeneratinal families t nuclear families is at the rt f s many f the ther symptms they discuss.
Well, the silence n this tpic was finally brken and it was nt frm a traditinal family publicatin but frm David Brks, The New Yrk Times clumnist writing fr The Atlantic. In an article nearly the length f a dissertatin n this subject, Brks masterfully expses the rt prblem with the mdern family.
In the article, Brks wrte, “When we discuss the prblems the cuntry is facing, we dn’t talk abut family enugh. It feels t judgmental, t uncmfrtable, and maybe even t religius. But the fact is that the nuclear family has been crumbling in slw mtin fr decades, and many f ur ther prblems — with educatin, mental health, and the quality f the labr frce — stem frm that breakdwn. We have left behind the family structure f the past. Fr mst peple it’s nt cming back.”
Many Americans are hungering t live in multigeneratinal families, in the way that is new and ancient at the same time. This is a significant pprtunity, a chance t thicken and braden family relatinships, a chance t allw mre adults and children t live and grw under the lving gaze f a dzen pairs f eyes, and be caught, when they fall, by a dzen pairs f arms. Fr decades we have been eating at smaller and smaller tables, with fewer and fewer relatives. It’s time t find ways t bring back the big tables.
    28. Which wrd can best describe the breakdwn f multigeneratinal families?
    A. Damaging. B. Extrardinary.C. Meaningful.D. Ineffective.
    29. What des the authr think f Brks’ article?
    A. It’s a traditin. B. It’s a victry. C. It’s a cmparisn.D. It’s a breakthrugh.
    30. What des the underlined wrd “crumbling” in paragraph 4 mean?
    A. develpingB. failingC. cllapsingD. establishing
    31. What is the authr’ s attitude t the structure f multigeneratinal families?
    A. Dismissive.B. Apprving.C. Unclear.D. Dubtful.
    D
If yu use the internet, yu’ve prbably heard f a filter bubble (过滤气泡). Internet sites and scial media platfrms use algrithms (算法) that shw yu cntent based n yur previus interactins, likes, and shares. Over time, this creates a filter bubble where yu nly see cntent that agrees with yur interests and beliefs, which serves t cnvince yu that yur beliefs are true. But what yu might nt knw is that in similar fashin, yur brain has several mechanisms t filter infrmatin, creating persnal filter bubbles that deeply shape hw yu live yur life.
Self-created filter bubbles happen thrugh varius cgnitive prcesses, and they have multiple cnsequences. They shape yur experience f what’s happening by frming a lens (镜片) thrugh which yu see and interpret the wrld. On the internet, because things are being presented based n past user histry, n tw peple get the same results when they search fr smething n the internet r pen their news feed. In real life, n tw peple are experiencing an event r seeing a situatin in the exact same way, because we all bring ur wn past experiences and biases (偏见) t situatins, causing us t prcess them differently.
Filter bubbles can cause yu t stay stuck in self-created and ften self-limiting patterns f thught and behavir. If yu’ve ever wndered why change is s hard, it’s because yur mental filter bubbles make it difficult t see different pssibilities. If yu hld the belief that yu’ re nt smene wh can have a high-paying jb, yu wn’t lk fr ne and yu’ll nly seek ut and see jbs that match up with what yu think yu’re wrth.
Filter bubbles can als prevent critical thinking and can lead t a limited and biased view f the wrld, where peple dn’t cnsider alternative viewpints and dn’t engage with thers utside f their wn circles. When we nly cnsume infrmatin that cnfirms ur preexisting beliefs and values, we dn’t questin the truth f that infrmatin r prperly evaluate the evidence.
While yu can’t prevent yur brain frm creating selective filter bubbles, yu can becme mre aware s that yu dn’t have t be limited r trapped by them.
    32. What can we learn abut filter bubbles?
    A. They shape ur interpretatins f the wrld.
    B. They have changed the way we view urselves.
    C. They are frequent ccurrences and have little effect n us.
    D. They assist us in making friends with like-minded individuals.
    33. Hw d filter bubbles impact individuals’ ability t embrace change?
    A. They facilitate pen-mindedness and flexibility.
    B. They make individuals resistant t new pprtunities.
    C. They help individuals adapt quickly t new situatins.
    D. They prevent individuals frm successfully securing a jb.
    34. What might the authr cntinue talking abut?
    A. Examples f creating filter bubbles.B. Barriers t vercming filter bubbles.
    C. Ways f escaping frm filter bubbles.D. Benefits f recgnizing filter bubbles.
    35. What des the text mainly talk abut?
    A. The dangers f bias in infrmatin cnsumptin.
    B. The influence f past experiences n ur wrldview.
    C. The benefits f scial media algrithms n ur mind.
    D. The impact f filter bubbles n shaping ur perceptin.

Emily Harper sat at her desk, staring blankly at the math prblems in frnt f her. Numbers and variables danced cnfusingly acrss the page, laughing at her every effrt. At schl, Emily was knwn fr her artistic talents, but math had always been her weakness. N matter hw hard she tried, she just culdn’t make sense f it.
Her struggles nly wrsened in the 10th grade. The pressure t keep up with her classmates grew, and the pr grades shk her cnfidence. Then came Mr. Jenkins, her new math teacher, wh sensed her frustratin and ffered t help her after class.
Emily was initially resistant; the idea f spending extra hurs n a subject she hated seemed like a punishment. But — she unwillingly agreed, knwing smething had t change.
Mr. Jenkins didn’t dive straight int prblems. Instead, he asked abut her interests. When Emily spke passinately abut her painting, he smiled. “Math is like art, Emily. It has patterns and beauty if yu knw where t lk.”
Dubtful but inspired, Emily listened as he began t explain cncepts thrugh visual examples. He used clrs and shapes, turning abstract numbers int smething almst tangible (有形的). Fr the first time, math seemed less like a freign language and mre like a puzzle waiting t be slved.
Hwever, prgress was slw. Weeks passed by, minimal imprvement, and Emily’s patience wre thin. A particularly difficult quiz left her in tears. She was cnvinced that she was sure t fail. Mr. Jenkins said, “Remember, Emily, every artist starts with a blank canvas (画布). Masterpieces aren’t created vernight.”
Encuraged by his firm belief, Emily pushed n. She began t see the cnnectins between the steps, hw each slutin fllwed a lgical path. Small victries in practice prblems gave her sme hpe. Mr. Jenkins was always there, celebrating her successes, n matter hw minr.
