The new e-skin imprves tasks requiring accuracy and frce cntrl, vercming a big challenge in advancing technlgy. Unlike traditinal e-skins, this new e-skin stays accurate even when it stretches. “Much like human skin has t stretch and bend as we mve, s des e-skin,” explains Nanshu Lu, a prfessr in the Cckrell Schl.
The breakthrugh lies in an innvative hybrid respnse pressure sensr that Lu and her partners have develped ver years. Lu sees the stretchable e-skin as an imprtant part f a rbt hand that can mirrr the sftness and sensitivity f a human hand. This new e-skin technlgy senses pressure frm cntact, letting the attached machine knw hw much frce t use t, fr example, hld a cup r tuch a persn. In demnstratins, the new e-skin allwed the rbt hand t adapt t varius sensitive tasks, such as accurately measuring human pulse ( 脉 搏 ) and pulse waves, securely hlding bjects withut drpping them and even handling unexpected items like cins inside a glass r pressing n a ptat chip withut breaking it.
Lu and her team are currently explring ptential applicatins, including partnering t build a rbtic arm equipped with the e-skin technlgy. They have als applied fr a basic patent fr the e-skin, indicating its ptential fr business use. In a wrld where the aging ppulatin exceeds (超过) the number f caregivers, the need fr efficient and gentle care slutins is necessary. Lu believes rbts equipped with advanced technlgies like the stretchable e-skin culd play a vital rle in dealing with this glbal challenge.
Beynd medicine,human-caring rbts culd be used in disasters. They culd search fr injured and trapped peple in an earthquake r a cllapsed building. Frm healthcare t disaster respnse, the ptential is significant. With further develpment and cperatin with rbtics cmpanies, Lu hpes t see this e-skin technlgy make its way t the market, marking the beginning f a new era f human-rbt interactin and care.
28.What advantage des the new e-skin have ver traditinal e-skins?

B.It enables rbts t mve at a fast speed.
C.It allws rbt hands t bend int all shapes.
D.It helps rbt hands cntrl with less frce.
29.What is paragraph 2 mainly abut?
    A.The wide applicatins f the new e-skin.
    B.The imprtant develpment f the new e-skin.
C.The majr challenge f the pressure sensr
D.The strng functin f the pressure sensr.
30.What can rbts with the new e-skin d fr the glbal challenge f aging ppulatin?
A.Reduce healthcare csts. B.Limit glbal business use.
C.Replace human caregivers. D.Imprve medical care efficiency.

The utstanding bigraphy prtrays (刻画) the life f the cmplicated Renaissance (文艺复兴) artist with details. We cme t see da Vinci as nt nly an inventr f musical instruments and early flying machines, but als a ntebk keeper and vegetarian, wh had truble finishing many f the prjects and paintings he started.
Yet what is mst thrilling is getting t knw da Vinci the scientist. Isaacsn explains hw lving science and applying the scientific methd t bserving the wrld was really what made da Vinci a great artist and, Isaacsn argues, a genius. Da Vinci was fascinated with bserving and understanding phenmena in nature. He wanted t knw abut everything arund him, in minute detail, Isaacsn writes. He wndered abut questins “mst peple ver the age f ten n lnger puzzle abut”— fr instance, hw the tngue f a wdpecker wrks.
T learn abut the wrld, da Vinci cmbined his wn bservatins with experimentatin. Never frmally schled, “he preferred t induce (归纳) frm experiments rather than deduce (推理) frm theretical principles.” Isaacsn explains. He recrded his bservatins, lked fr patterns amng them, and then tested thse patterns thrugh additinal bservatin and experimentatin.
When he became fascinated with the idea that he culd invent flying machines, he bserved varius birds and filled ntebks with the functin and speed at which their wings flapped. That’s why Isaacsn calls da Vinci an exemplar f this scientific methd. He ges n: “Galile, brn 112 years after Lenard, is usually credited with being the first t develp this kind f apprach and is ften regarded as the father f mdern science.” There can be n dubt that this hnr wuld have been bestwed (赠与) n Lenard da Vinci had he published his scientific writings during his lifetime.
Da Vinci’s emphasis n empirical bservatin als helped him imprve his art. First, he was able t use what he learned frm lking at nature t paint and draw. His studies f the bdy, animals, mtin, shadw and light, perspective and prprtin helped him better understand what he was seeing in frnt f him, and render(表现) it in art mre accurately and finely than anyne else f his time. Mst imprtantly, his ability t cnnect art and science, helped him innvate in his wrk. Da Vinci made surprisingly diverse series f discveries, including cnceptualizing the helicpter and slar pwer and advancing knwledge abut everything frm the reprductive rgans t btany. This genius is als what drew Isaacsn t Albert Einstein and Steve Jbs as subjects: They’ re all innvatrs wh were inspired by and drew cnnectins between art and science.
“Lenard da Vinci is the ultimate example f the main theme f my previus bigraphies: hw the ability t make cnnectins acrss disciplines — arts and sciences, humanities and technlgy — is a key t innvatin, imaginatin, and genius,” Isaacsn writes. And this wnderful bk is a reminder, in a time f increasingly narrw specializatin and fcus, that the methds f Renaissance men like da Vinci are as relevant as ever.
    32. What is the highlight f da Vinci’s bigraphy?
    A. His unfinished paintings.B. His preference fr vegetables.
    C. His spirit f explring science.D. His ppsitin t frmal educatin.
    33. Why des Isaacsn mentin Galile in the bk?
    A. T intrduce his imprtant findings in science.
    B. T illustrate the significance f da Vinci’s research methd.
C T shw the challenges faced by da Vinci during his lifetime.
    D. T memrize his cntributins as the father f mdern science.
    34. Which f the fllwing statements is true?
    A. Da Vinci imprved his art and drew mre accurately by painting mstly in the natural wrld.
B.The methds f Renaissance men like da Vinci can still apply t cntemprary scientific research.
    C. Albert Einstein and Steve Jbs are as famus as da Vinci fr cmbining art with science.
    D. Da Vinci failed t publish his scientific writing because the scientific methd was inaccessible at that time.
    35. What might be the best title fr the passage?
    A. Hw a Genius Changed the Wrld B. The Features f Renaissance Art
    C. Hw Science Shaped His Art D. The Cmparisn between Art and Science

The next day, I dragged myself t the rehearsal, still feeling disheartened. As we began, I watched the princesses dance gracefully, a twinge f jealusy stirring within me. But then, as I started t act ut my rle, smething shifted. Mr. Ellisn’s wrds eched in my mind, “Every rle is imprtant.” Gradually, I immersed myself in the character f the ld wman. My lines flwed naturally, and I fund a newfund respect fr my rle. T my surprise, my perfrmance drew applause frm my peers. This small rle, I realized, culd be a pwerful ne.
Finally, the great day arrived, and “the ld wman” culdn’t wait t get n stage. As the curtains pened, a rush f excitement filled me. I delivered my lines with cnvictin, feeling mre alive n stage than I had ever been. The audience laughed at my humrus lines, and I felt a sense f accmplishment. When the final curtain fell, the applause was deafening. Mr. Ellisn’s wrds had been right — every rle was imprtant. I had fund my place in the sptlight, nt as a princess, but as an ld wman wh helped a sldier. And it was enugh.
