If yu’re always taking care f everything fr yur child, it’ll be mre difficult fr him t becme independent. As an adult, he might find it hard t take care f himself because he’s never develped cping skills t deal with life’s challenges. He might suffer frm irratinal fears, anxiety and depressin, which culd lead him t drp ut f cllege r frequently change jbs, accrding t Dr. Michele Brba. Instead f develping healthy relatinships, he might seek a partner wh will take care f him r cntrlling, as his parents were.
Yu can help yur child becme mre independent by allwing him t cmplete tasks and challenges n his wn withut yur interventin. Even if he fails at first, dn’t interfere—encurage him t start again.
