    Step1. Leading-in and Intrductin

    Directin: The way f activating the students t list the new things abut telecmmunicatins is t divide the students int tw grups and chse a student frm each grup write dwn the wrds his/her grup members mentin n the blackbard in the frm f cmpetitin. The mre, the better. And the wrds must be crrect.
    Mtivate the students t d a survey abut the use f mbile phnes after sme warming-up activities. Then text messages becme the tpic.
    Directin: Encurage the students t chse five classmates t talk t, and they can stand up and talk arund as lng as they can finish the survey. And then they shuld draw a cnclusin abut the main use f mbile phnes. Accrding t their survey, ask them hw t write text messages, and then lead in the passage n page 59.
    Reading cmprehensin with the help f sme questins n the students’ page. Questins are listed as fllws:

    Directin: In this step, the students read the passage with the guidance f sme strategies f taking ntes: “Yu can write dwn a cmplete sentence, but it will need a lnger time t finish yur reading. Besides, yu can begin yur ntes with “t d…”r “ding”. But if time is limited, yu can chse sme single wrds r phrases that yu think are imprtant t be yur ntes.”
    Directin: Guide the students t wrk in grups t slve the prblems tgether. Mre examples t shw t the students abut the special ways f text messages. Then tell the students there is anther way f cmmunicatin --- abbreviatin with mre examples. Students’ shw time – t shw their wn text message with the ways f shrtening the wrds with emticns , shrthand, and abbreviatin after reading.

    Encurage the students t find ut whether the Chinese mbile phne users use this similar way f text messages r nt, and list sme examples in the frm f discussin.
    Encurage the students t discuss in grups abut the advantages and disadvantages f using this kind f way t cmmunicate with thers.
    Directin: Students discuss in a grup, but the shy persn shuld be the reprter t reprt the grup’s pinin in public. Encurage the students t debate, and guide the students t realize that the best way t keep us up t date is t study and read bks.
    Directin: Explain the rules f debate first,then encurage them t state their wn pinins.
