In his pinin, n further lean shuld g beynd a safety limit f 27.5millimetres ver the existing lean f 220millimetres.
T keep the lean within this limit, Burland tld the British Assciatin abut the new methd f pumping grut immediately under the base f the twer. Mre than 300 tns f grut were pumped in during cnstructin. The twers additinal lean went between 10 and 25 millimetres, but never passed 27.5millimetres.
After the cnstructin wrk was cmpleted in late 1997,a review f mvements in nearby walls shwed that the building was in better shape than had been thught befre and the safety limit was raised t 35 millimetres befre any actin needs t be taken .
Since 1971 the twer has cntinued t lean burland tld Mdern Cnstructin. The latest measures taken this year suggest that the twers lean had just reached 35 millimetres. But fllwing regular re-examinatins f the twer, experts are sure that the twer has stabilized(稳定).
