The first part f the ride was pretty hair-raising and it was apparent that we had n idea what we were ding. After 20 minutes we hit a rapid and gt stuck: there was a huge rck under the surface and ur bat was letting in water. The bttm gt stuck and we were trapped in the middle f a wide, fast-mving river. Wall after wall f freezing water hit me and the iciness tk my breath away. My brther, sisters and I were screaming, Dad was shuting at us that it wuld all be OK, while Mum yelled at us t hld n. We had n time t cme up with any plan ther than t hld tight.
It felt as if we were stuck fr hurs, unable t think r breathe, but it was prbably nly a few minutes. Then, suddenly I was swept ut f the dinghy.
