    I am a self-taught maker f gingerbread (姜饼) huses. It wasn't smething I ever did grwing up. In fact, gingerbread huses struck me as an awful lt f wrk fr little return, a baking (烘焙) prject that wuld eat up the time I culd spend ding smething mre prductive.
    But, five years ag, I saw a sign at the library annuncing a gingerbread huse cntest (比赛) . I went hme and tld my kids and we made a huse frm the start. It tk all day and we were cvered in icing, but I was blwn away by the final prduct. It was s satisfying t see a little huse, decrated with clrful candy.     Every year since then, my kids and I have attended the gingerbread huse cntest, and every year we've wn the family grup. Our huses are nt very beautiful; the nly thing that sets them apart is the fact that we make the
