It was 1984, and I heard that ur typewriters were sn ging t be replaced with cmputers. I had been happily typing n typewriters fr many years. But cmputers? I knew nthing abut cmputers. Scientists frm Gergia Tech have develped a new rbt named ESTHER (Experimental Sprt Tennis Wheelchair Rbt), which can mve arund the curt and even return human serves.
The team believes the rbt culd serve as a training partner ( 搭档) fr prfessinal players in the future, lwering the pressure f training with anther human.
The rbt is the brainchild f Gergia Tech's Matthew Gmblay, prfessr f rbtics in the Schl f Interactive Cmputing. He wanted t develp a better training challenge than a ball feeder that stays in ne place, ne that wuld act like an always n-call partner r even team up with smene in dubles matches. The result is ESTHER, an adapted wheelchair tennis chair that can race t balls at ten metres per secnd and prbably utplay a human.

ESTHER can mve up t tw metres after a ball is struck t hit a successful return, which is cmparable t the lngest distance mved by human players fr 80 per cent f shts (击球).”
