Accrding t a study published in Nature n June 23 th, astrnmers have fund that 1,715 stars have had a direct view f Earth since humans have been here.
In rder t d this, scientists used a methd that lked fr life n ther planets. But instead, they changed the methd s it culd try t decide what places culd see us.
The team lked at 331,312 stars within 326 light-years f Earth. Out f all thse stars, nly 1,715 f them culd see Earth within the last 5,000 years, with an extra 319 stars that will be able t see us in the next 5,000 years.
“When I lk up at the sky, it lks a little bit friendlier because it’s like, maybe smene is waving,” said Lisa Kaltenegger, directr f the Carl Sagan Institute at Crnell University, US, and the study’s lead writer.
