In the new study, the researchers analyzed nearly 600 measurements f CO2 and CO cncentratin at fur spts in the Brazilian Amazn cllected frm 2010 t 2018. The team fund that, n average, fires pured abut 1.6 billin tns f CO2 int the atmsphere each year, while healthy trees absrbed nly abut half a billin tns. In the new study, the researchers analyzed nearly 600 measurements f CO2 and CO cncentratin at fur spts in the Brazilian Amazn cllected frm 2010 t 2018. The team fund that, n average, fires pured abut 1.6 billin tns f CO2 int the atmsphere each year, while healthy trees absrbed nly abut half a billin tns. The Amazn Basin cntains abut 2.8 millin square miles f jungle, representing mre than half f the trpical (热带的) rainfrest area remaining n Earth. “Limiting defrestatin, and especially wildfires, is key t changing this dangerus trend in the Amazn.
