Remte cntrls (遥控) are ne f the mst cmmn symbls f ur mdern technlgies. In fact, remte cntrls are an inventin brn in the 1800s. Famus inventr Nikla Tesla created ne f the wrld’s first wireless remte cntrls, which he shwed fr the first time at Madisn Square Garden in New Yrk City in 1898.
Tesla called his imperfect system a “tele-autmatn”, as he thught he needed t amelirate it further. Tesla used a tiny bat t shw his inventin. The signals prduced by this bx changed electrical cntacts abard the bat, which, in turn, adjusted the rudder (调整船舵), allwing the peratr t cntrl the bat’s way f mving. Financially, Tesla’s remte-cntrlled bats were a failure. His intended custmer, the US Navy, thught the technlgy was t easily damaged fr war. But the idea f remte cntrl caught n and quickly spread t many ther types f equipment.
In the 1930s and 1940s a few cnsumer electrnics (消费类电子产品), such as garage (车库) dr peners and mdel airplanes, arrived with remte cntrls. In 1956, Plley’s clleague, Rbert Adler, created the Space Cmmand cntrl, which used ultrasnic sund (超声) instead f light. And ultrasnic sund remtes were the standard fr TVs until the 1980s, when remtes began t use the infrared light (红外光) signals that are mst cmmn tday.
Remte cntrls have allwed humans t perfrm many tasks that wuld be difficult, if nt impssible. And althugh remtes might have a lng histry, they are anything but ver. As we cntinue t apply technlgy t ur lives, it’s very likely that we’ll need remtes t keep things under cntrl.
    32. What des the underlined wrd “amelirate” in Paragraph 2 prbably mean?
    A. Decrate.B. Apprach.C. Feature.D. Imprve.
    33. What was the purpse f Nikla Tesla in inventing remte cntrls?
    A. T cntrl the TV set.B. T perate the tiny bat.
    C. T sell them t the army.D. T raise mney fr the army.
34 Hw is Paragraph 3 mainly develped?
    A. By analyzing causes.B. By fllwing time rder.
    C. By making cmparisns.D. By describing an experiment.
    35. What can we infer abut remte cntrls?
    A. They’ll becme very light.
    B. They’ll cntrl everything.
    C. They’ll have mre and mre uses.
    D. They’ll becme cheaper in the future.
