A grup f secnd-year cllege students have discvered hidden writing n a page frm a bk frm the 1500s , using a special camera system they built.
Surprisingly, finding hidden writing n very ld dcuments isn't all that unusual. In fact, there's even a special name fr dcuments like this: a palimpsest(再生羊皮纸卷).
Lng ag, writing was dne n parchment(羊皮纸)-thin, dried animal skins specially prepared fr writing. But parchment wasn't easy t make and wasn't cheap. S it became cmmn t erase the ld writing ff the parchment and then reuse it fr anther piece f writing. That's what creates a palimpsest.
The writing erased frm the parchment can't be seen directly, but scientists have learned ways t use special lighting t reveal the riginal writing. But it's unusual fr yung cllege students t discver palimpsests.
Last year, first-year students at the Rchester Institute f Technlgy tk part in a class that brught tgether many students t take n a prject as a grup. The prject was t build a special camera system that culd take pictures using different kinds f light.
Over the summer, the students wrking n the imaging camera managed t finish it. When they were dne, they brrwed several ld parchments frm the cllectin at the schl's Cary Graphic Arts Cllectin. When they put ne f the pages under their camera system with UV light, the hidden writing suddenly appeared. Under the UV light, handwriting in French culd easily be seen behind the fancy writing and decratins nrmally visible n the page.
Ze, a student invlved in the prject, said, "This was amazing because this dcument has been in the Cary Graphic Arts Cllectin fr almst 10 years and n ne nticed it." The students are even mre excited because even thugh the parchment is n lnger part f a bk , they knw where 29 ther pages frm the same bk are. The students, wh are nw wrking with thers t lcate the ther parchments, hpe these, t, will have hidden writing and that they can figure ut what it means.

C.Track the rigin f the palimpsests in the Cary Graphic Arts Cllectin.
D.Discver hidden writing and its meaning n mre parchments.
35.What's the purpse f this text?
A.T tell abut a new discvery. B.T recmmend a special bk.

A similar case happened t cllege students in China. Mnths ag, the fficial Tsinghua University micrblg accunt shwed pictures f students’ plans, study ntes and daily schedules. He starts his day by pre-reading his textbks at 6: 40 am, and ends with a summary f his studies. 38 , he writes encuragements t himself, like, “Yu're the best", and “G fr it".
Bth students' hard wrk has certainly paid ff. White was at the tp f her 152 ther classmates and the Chinese undergraduate wn a first-class schlarship fur years in a rw.
39 . They have regular schedules and get up early t study. They squeeze as much int the schedule as they can. Mre imprtantly, they learn a way f managing time well and efficiently.
Sme may wnder hw they can avid exhaustin, stress and burnut. White's vide Time Management &Organizatin Tips All Students Shuld Knw may prvide an answer. T White, dancing is smething she takes as a reward after cmpleting everything n the list. Then get enugh sleep t rest her bdy and get ready t d a gd jb the next day.
Indeed, things must be carefully planned befre we act, and then " twice as much can be accmplished with half the effrt", as the ld Chinese saying ges.

1 )Hw did they plan t crss the river?
2)Why did they measure the river?
3)Hw did they make sure the lg was lng enugh fr them t get acrss the river?
    4.审所给首句:
Para. 1 :They set the tied branches n the grund next t the lg. 他们把绑在一起的树枝跟原木作比较,那么原木是否足够长来用作过河的桥梁呢? 他们又是如何顺利通过原木过河的呢? 结合所给的第二段第一句话可知,这一段主要叙述他们如何利用原木过河。
Para.2:Alex and Maria managed t get t the ther side f the river. Alex和 Maria利用原木这一桥梁顺利过河。过桥后他们的反应如何? 这一段可以主要叙述他们过桥后的反应以及他们在喷泉里玩得是否快乐。
    参考范文
They set the tied branches n the grund next t the lg. The lg was luckily the exact length f the tied branches. Seeing that, Alex and Maria were mre than delighted and they placed the lg acrss the river with great care. They made it! Then they fixed their side f the lg with branches and rcks befre they walked acrss it t reach the ther side f the river. Being sure f the lg’s firmness, they started t jurney their way t the ther side f the river as slwly as pssible.
Alex and Maria managed t get t the ther side f the river. When they gt there, they secured the ther side f the lg with branches and rcks, t, and lked back at their handiwrk. It had been a gd day's wrk, and they were indeed prud f that. It really felt gd that they finally succeeded in slving the prblem by using their intelligence. Nw they were free t enjy the cl water in the funtain. Despite being wet t the skin, they were as happy as Larry.
