Withut hunting, they say, sika deer will verppulate the wildlife refuge and they’ll vereat the bushes and ther plants that prvide imprtant habitat fr birds. On the western shre f the Chesapeake Bay, hunting is als imprtant t prevent the spread f diseases such as Lyme.
In many families, the hunting traditin has been handed dwn fr generatins^ But as lngtime sprtsmen age and children lse interest, the number f hunters in the United States fell by 2 millin, frm 2011 t 2018, t abut 11 millin.
“Everything is changing. Kids are grwing up in frnt f vide games and cmputers instead f ging hunting.” said Chris Markin, a hunting specialist fr the state natural resurces department. “Adults usually fcus n wrking and prviding fr their families. Thse pressures are preventing many ther ptential hunters frm ging ut, and frm raising the next generatin f hunters.”

I culdn’t imagine hw she culd have been able t care fr them. Hurs earlier, I’d bagged up a plate f leftver fish. As I unwrapped it, she wagged her tail and sniffed at it. She ate all the fish in n time.
