April 22nd every year marks the beginning f Earth Day, started in the year 1970, it is nw celebrated in mre than 190 cuntries each year. Every year, the event is celebrated under a different theme. The theme fr 2022 is “Invest In Our Planet”.
Hwever, Earth Day is nt just an event t be celebrated n ne specific day. It is primarily a reminder fr all t d ur rightful duty every day t save ur planet. Belw, we have made a list f fur things yu can d t celebrate Earth Day (apart frm planting trees).

We have fund plastic in the cean and in animals like birds, fish and whales. But fr the first time, scientists have fund plastic in human pp(粪便), USA Tday reprted.
The finding came frm a study led by scientists frm Envirnment Agency in Austria. The researchers fllwed eight healthy vlunteers frm different parts f the wrld. The vlunteers wrte dwn what they ate fr a week and then prvided a pp sample fr testing.
Scientists fund nine different types f plastic in the samples, accrding t the study. An average f 20 small plastic particles(颗粒) were fund in every 10 grams f pp. The particles measured between 50 t 500 micrmeters.
"The smallest plastic particles are able t enter the bldstream, the lymphatic system(淋巴系统), and may even reach the liver(肝脏)," Philipp Schwabl, wh tk part in the research, said t the Guardian.
Hwever, the scientists aren't sure if this plastic is harmful t humans. They're nt sure hw the plastic gt in the vlunteers' bdies, either. But mst f the vlunteers said they drank frm plastic bttles and als ate seafd that culd include plastic frm cean pllutin.
In fact, plastic is everywhere arund us. Every year, an average f 8 millin tns f plastic waste ges int the ceans, accrding t Natinal Gegraphic. “Spiral Island II” feels like an island and certainly lks like ne with its beaches, trees and pls. But different frm mst islands, there are thusands f plastic bttles under the island t keep it aflat.
All f this is the wrk f ne man. Rishi Swa, an artist frm the UK. In 1998, Rishi gave up his jb and left the UK t live a much simpler life in Mexic. He did nt have enugh mney t buy land, s he decided t build his wn island which he called “Spiral Island”. He cllected 250,000 empty plastic bttles, put them int nets and built a wden platfrm (平台) n tp f them. On the platfrm, he built a small huse and planted trees and ther plants.
Rishi lived happily n the island with his dg, Rainbw, cats, Bnita and Easy, tw chickens and a duck until 2005 when a large strm destryed his hme. Hwever, Rishi did nt give up and at nce started anther island in a safer area.
Spiral Island II is a bit smaller than the first island but is even mre cmfrtable. He built a huse that uses energy frm the wind and pwer frm the sun. He keeps chickens and grws fruit and vegetables.
