We’re all familiar with the feeling --it usually starts with a little itch (痒) deep inside the nse. Next cmes the awareness that it’s ging t happen. Then, ach! Furthermre, increased pressure frm sneezing actually builds up in the bld vessels (血管), which may cause vessels t break but is less likely t cause the eyeballs t pp ut.

Scientists, n the ther hand, explain that we clse ur eyes fr the same reasn we sneeze -- t prevent unwanted things frm entering ur bdies. Either way, as far as we knw, there are n actual recrded cases f anyne lsing an eyeball because f a sneeze, s dn’t lse any sleep ver it!

    B. Because high pressure builds up in the eyes.
    C. Because they are held strngly by bld vessels.
    D. Because increased pressure prevents them frm ppping ut.
    31. What can we infer frm the text?
    A. Sneezes usually cause an itchy nse.
    B. Peple sneeze t burst ut unwanted things.
    C. The high pressure caused by a sneeze will be released thrugh breathing.
    D. Peple clse their eyes when sneezing t stp their eyeballs frm ppping ut.

W: I was brn befre my sister Stacy — tw minutes and 58 secnds befre her, t be exact! I’ve always been really prud t be the lder ne. We are twins, but we dn’t lk the same. There are sme twins wh lk alike and thers wh dn’t. And ur persnalities culdn’t be mre different. I’m utging and lud, and I play sprts whenever I can. My sister is quiet and shy, and she prefers t read bks. We grew up in the Midwest — ur parents were bth prfessrs at the University f Chicag. Persnally, I feel lucky that ur parents didn’t try t d silly things like dressing us up in the same clthes when we were little. As kids, my sister and I develped ur wn language that nly we culd understand. It made ur parents s angry, and that nly made us use it mre! I can still remember that day my sister and I left fr clleges n ppsite sides f the cuntry — her t Harvard and me t Stanfrd. Bth places seemed really far away. I felt like ur lives wuld change frever, but they didn’t. We’re nw in ur mid-thirties, and we’ve never been clser!
