I’ve been dancing since I was fur and I plan t cntinue dancing in cllege. Hwever I’ve always feared that dancing will affect my study and eventually becme a brilliant memry f my childhd. After learning abut Smmer Gentry’s stry, I had an answer.
Smmer Gentry, previusly a prfessr f mathematics at the United States Naval Academy and a cach at the Naval Academy’s Swing Dance Club, is currently a teacher at NYU Grssman Schl f Medicine. Gentry and her husband als started a swing dance cmmunity t intrduce nn-dancers t swing dance.
Thrugh teaching, Gentry was inspired t view dancing frm an engineering pint f view. She said, “I realized it is an engineering questin: hw d yu dance well with smene? It’d be great t give peple mathematical and engineering prfs that they have t dance the way I say.” Gentry investigated the cmplex haptic (触觉的) cmmunicatin behind the mves in swing dance and shwed that tw persns culd mve in crdinatin (协调) with pure haptic cmmunicatin, She entered an exciting area f research which is abut engineering, psychlgy and human mtr cntrl.
It’s incredibly inspiring that Gentry was able t intertwine her academic wrk with her passin fr dancing. Gentry said, “It means that even when I’m dancing utside, I’m thinking abut my research prject.”
Gentry fund that digging int her academic interest des nt mean letting g f her ther nn-academic nes. Instead, she fund a way t include bth in her prfessinal life. Cws prduce much methane (甲烷), the wrld’s secnd wrst greenhuse gas, as they break dwn the grass. They are a large surce f the greenhuse gases that are driving climate change. Nw scientists have shwn the pllutin frm cws can be reduced by adding a little seaweed (海藻) t their fd.
Recently, the researchers frm the University f Califrnia studied 21 cws n a farm fr abut five mnths. They taught the cws t get their fd frm inside a special hd (罩), which allwed the scientists t knw the amunt f the methane the cws were giving ff. They used a small amunt f seaweed, which they mixed with the cws’ fd.
The results were surprisingly gd. In sme cases, the cws prduced 82% less methane. The imprvement depended n the kind f fd the cws were given. Even the wrst-plluting cws prduced 33% less methane. Over the five mnths, the scientists didn’t see any signs that the cws’ stmachs were getting used t the seaweed and starting t prduce mre methane again. What’s mre, the cws that were fed seaweed gained just as much weight as the ther cws.
But there are still sme big prblems with the idea f feeding cws seaweed. Fr ne thing, there’s nt enugh seaweed t feed all f the cws in the wrld. S farmers wuld have t figure ut a way t grw lts f seaweed. A bigger prblem is that fr mst f their lives, cws live in the fields, where they eat grass. That means there’s n chance t feed them seaweed every day.
Still, it’s very gd news that smething as simple as feeding cws seaweed can help reduce sme f the pllutin causing the climate crisis.

B. It’s hard t mix seaweed with grass.
C. Cws fed with seaweed gained weight easily.
D. Cws can hardly have daily access t seaweed.
11. What is the authr’s attitude twards the findings?

In fact, it did s when the persn first cnsciusly accept the situatin causing their sadness, and then began listening t the sad music. That is, when they intended that the sad music might help, they fund that it did.
These findings link with ther studies that shw accepting yur sad situatin emtinally leads t healing and grwth beynd it. It seems unbelievable but it des make sense. Fr example, research frm Crnell University, published in Psychlgical Science, fund that accepting discmfrt abut a life experience r new situatin, and viewing it as a step twards grwth and change, encurages peple t find a pathway thrugh it, beynd it. As Churchill famusly said, “If yu’re ging thrugh hell, keep ging.” That discmfrt pints yu twards creating a plan, a new actin. It fuels hpe.
