Last summer, I was sent t take phts that culd cmmunicate the urgency f climate change in nrthern Canada. When I arrived at an abandned village n Reslute Bay, I scanned the shre with my camera. Suddenly, I sptted a bear lying n the grund. It didn’t mve fr almst an hur. But when it finally std up, I had t catch my breath. The bear’s nce strng bdy was just skin and bnes, every step that it tk was painfully slw.
When I psted the phts n scial media, I wrte, “This is what starvatin may lk like. I wnder whether the glbal ppulatin f 25, 000 plar bears wuld die the way this bear is dying.”
I did nt say that this particular bear was killed by climate change. But news rganizatins arund the wrld fcused n it.
