The Cultural Landscape f Old Tea Frests f the Jingmai Muntain in Pu’er gained the Wrld Heritage Site status at the 45th sessin f the Wrld Heritage Cmmittee f UNESCO n Sunday.
56 (lcate) in Lancang Lahu autnmus cunty in Pu’er, the 57 (new) named heritage site cnsists f five large, well-preserved ld tea frests, three prtective barrier frests and nine ancient villages in the ld tea frests.
The cultural landscape was created by the ancestrs f the Blang peple, ” wh immigrated t the Jingmai Muntain in the 10th century AD and 58 (discver) wild tea trees. On the basis f lng-standing practices, lcal peple develped the understry grwing technique, which invlves allwing trees 59 are small and sufficiently shade-tlerant t thrive under the canpies (树荫) f taller trees. They als created ideal light cnditins fr grwing tea trees, while preventing insect thrugh a well-preserved frest ecsystem, 60 (prduce) quality rganic tea leaves withut the use f pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

Chen Yahua, directr f Peking University’s Wrld Heritage Research Center, said the tea grwing technique n the Jingmai Muntain is quite unique. I pened the dr and he handed me the bag. Cnfused, I pened the bag nly t find there were my sandwiches in it. The man had paid fr the sandwiches. I was surprised that this was happening.
