A grwing number f experts believe language can influence hw we think just as ur thughts and culture can shape hw language develps. One instance is that language appears t have a fascinating effect n the way we think abut time.
Scientists wh believe in this have shwn that English speakers typically view time as travelling frm left t right, mst likely in line with the way the English language is written. Hwever, Hebrew speakers, wh read and write frm right t left picture time as fllwing the same path as their text.
Languages als encde(编码) time in grammar. In English fr example, the future is ne f three simple tenses, alng with the past and the present—we say “it rained”, “it rains and “it will rain”. But in German, yu can say Mrgen regnet, meaning “it rains tmrrw” The same is true fr many ther languages including Chinese.

They were als 24% less likely t smke, 29% mre likely t be physically active, and 13% less likely t be medically bese(肥胖的). This result held even when cntrlling fr factrs such as sciecnmic status and religin. In fact, cuntries with futureless languages n average 5% mre f their GDP per year.
It is becming increasingly clear that language is influencing hw we think abut the wrld and ur passage thrugh it. This is nt t say that any ne language is “better” than anther, but being aware f hw languages differ helps yu think and cmmunicate better. And while learning a new language wn’t necessarily make yu a genius we can all gain a fresh viewpint and mre flexible understanding f the wrld thrugh it.

32、答案:①its②that/which③impressive④cmmunicatin⑤an⑥were allwed⑦t recrd⑧Therefre⑨thusands⑩making
