【语法感悟】 以上画线词都引导非限制性定语从句。非限制性定语从句只是对主句内容或先行词的补充、解释或附加说明。主句或先行词与从句之间一般用______ 分开, 常常单独翻译。没有它, 主句意思仍然完整。非限制性定语从句既可修饰________,又可修饰整个______,不可用_____ 引导,且关系代词不可以省略。
使用非限制性定语从句的常见情况:
1. 先行词是独一无二的事物时The mn, which desn't give ut light itself, is nly a satellite f the earth. 月球本身不发光, 它只是地球的一个卫星。
2. 先行词表示类属的事物时Ftball, which is a very interesting game, is played all ver the wrld. 足球是一项非常有趣的运动, 全世界都踢足球。
3. 先行词是专有名词时The Nile, which used t fld every year, nw runs mre regularly belw the dam. 尼罗河过去年年发洪水, 现在更有规律地在大坝下流淌。
4. 先行词是表示人的职业、品质、身份等名词, 关系词在定语从句中作表语时Mike's brther is a pliceman, which he isn't. 迈克的哥哥是警察, 他可不是。
5. 当非限制性定语从句修饰整个句子时, 引导词只有as 和which。但是二者也有区别:
(1)as有“正如、像”等意思, 后常接expect, knw, reprt, say, see等动词的主、被动语态句。如as is ften the case(这是常有的事), as was expected(不出所料), as is mentined abve(正如上面所提到的)等。As everyne knws, China is a cuntry with a lng histry. 众所周知, 中国是一个历史悠久的国家。
(2)which可用and this/that/it代替, 有“因此、这样、这就使得、这一点”等意思, 常置于主句之后。注意:as也可用在限制性定语从句中, 多和such、s或the same连用, 构成“such/s. . . as”和“the same. . . as”结构。如:
Such bks as I have read are English nvels.我所读过的书都是英语小说。(as作宾语)
6. all/sme f+whm/which引导非限制性定语从句The students f Class 1, sme f whm came frm Japan, went camping yesterday. 1班的学生们昨天去野营了, 他们中有些来自日本。
7. “介词+关系代词”引导的非限制性定语从句, 介词的选用主要依据以下几点:①根据定语从句中谓语动词的搭配习惯;②根据先行词的搭配习惯;③根据句意;④表示“所有”关系或“整体中的一部分”时, 通常用f。Last summer we visited the West Lake, fr which Hangzhu is famus in the wrld. 去年夏天, 我们游览了西湖。杭州因西湖而闻名天下。
