1.根据阅读文章理解文中的直接信息;
2.根据阅读文章理解文中的间接信息(主要识别同义句表达);
3. 根据文章内容进行简单的计算;
4. 根据文章信息进行过程或时间顺序的排列;
5. 根据文章信息查找本文内容相同的部分;

Longing for the most amazing places on the planet? You can do no wrong with these lakes across the globe.
Five Flower Lake
Set in the striking karst landscape of the Jiuzhaigou Valley in Sichuan province, China, Five Flower Lake is extraordinarily clear, with visibility to a depth of 40 metres. Five Flower is one of a series of blue-, green-and sky-colored lakes blocked by rock falls, but it differs from the others as its waters change color, looking sometimes yellow, sometimes green, but usually diamond blue. In winter, Five Flower never freezes; in summer, it never dries up. Local wildlife living in the surrounding mountain forests include the rare giant panda and the golden snub-nose monkey.
Crater Lake
The deep-blue waters of Crater Lake in Oregon, US, fill the outlet of an ancient volcano that collapsed 7,700 years ago. Its strangest occupant is the “Old Man of the Lake”, a nine-metre-tall tree stump(树桩), which has stood upright in the water for more than a century. No rivers or streams enter the lake. Water loss in summer is compensated by winter snow and rain, the entire body of water being replaced every 250 years.
Lake Ohrid
Ancient Lake Ohrid has been around for about five million years and crosses the mountainous border between Macedonia and Albania. It has unique plants and wildlife, including the Ohrid “plashica”, a fish native to the lake, whose scales(鳞片) are used to make Ohrid pearls.
Lake Maggiore
Surrounded on three sides by the Lipontine Alps and touching the plain of Lombardy to the south, Lake Maggiore is Italy’s longest lake. Considered part of the country’s lake district, it is shared with Switzerland. Characterized by a Mediterranean-style climate, temperatures here are mild all year. This has given rise to some of northern Italy’s most wonderful gardens, which appear to float like flower-decked boats on the water.
1.What makes Five Flower Lake different from other lakes?
A.Its agreeable climate. B.The rare local wildlife.
C.Its color-changing waters. D.The visibility of waters.
2.How does Crater Lake mainly get water supply?
A.By artificial rain. B.By snow and rain.
C.From nearby streams. D.From an ancient tree.
3.Which lake has a typical warm climate?
A.Five Flower Lake. B.Crater Lake.
C.Lake Ohrid. D.Lake Maggiore.

The Camino de Santiago
How long is the Camino de Santiago? That depends. Some take on the all-Spanish 1, 000 km Via de la Plata route from Seville to Santiago to Compostela, while the most popular route, from Saint Jean Pied de Port in France-sometimes called the Camino Francés or French Way-is 790 km.
A popular 116 km hike, ideal for 10 days of leisurely walking, is known as the English Way-not because English Christians prefer camping and pub stops to walking, but because it is believed the route, from Ferrol on the Galician Coast, was used by pilgrims (朝圣者) arriving from Britain and Ireland. The English Way starts with coastal views and passes through the small towns of Pontedeume and Betanzos, and lots of wooded and agricultural areas.
Top Tip
With a Pilgrim’s Credential, you qualify for lodgings (住宿), which have bunk beds (双层床铺) and shared facilities and cost from just £5-6 a night.
When to Go
This part of Spain has relatively mild weather year round. March to October are likely to be best for sunshine, but rain is always possible here.
Do It Yourself
Fly with Vueling (vueling, com) from London Gatwick to A Coruña, with returns £100, or take a boat from Plymouth to Santander (£150 return).
A Coruña to Ferrol by train takes an hour and 10 minutes and costs £5.5.
Lodging costs for 10 days come to about £60.
The 40-minute train from Santiago de Compostela to A Coruña costs £5.5.
21.Why is the English Way famous?
A.It appeals to English Christians. B.It was once employed by pilgrims.
C.It is suitable for comfortable walking. D.It showed beautiful scenery along the route.
22.Which month will you choose if you love sunshine?

A multi-institutional team of researchers conducted the first study to evaluate how the duration of nightly sleep early in the semester affects first year college students’ end-of-semester grade point average (GPA), Using Fitbit sleep trackers, they found that students on average sleep 6.5 hours a night, but negative outcomes accumulate when students received less than six hours of sleep a night. The results are available in the Feb. 13 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Sleep guidelines recommend teenagers get 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night. Many college students experience irregular and insufficient sleep.
David Creswell, the William S. Dietrich Ⅱ Professor in Psychology and Neuroscience at the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, led a team of researchers to evaluate the relationship between sleep and GPA.“Animal studies have shown how critical sleep is for learning and memory,” said Creswell.“Here we show how this work translates to humans.The less nightly sleep a first year college student gets at the beginning of the school term predicts lower GPA at the end of the term. Lack of sleep may be hurting students’ ability to learn in their college classrooms.”
The study evaluated more than 600 first-year students across five studies at three universities. The students wore wrist Fitbit devices to monitor and record their sleep patterns. The researchers found that students in the study sleep on average 6.5 hours a night.More surprisingly, the researchers found that students who receive less than six hours of sleep experienced a pronounced decline in academic performance. In addition, each hour of sleep lost corresponded to a 0.07 decrease in end-of-term GPA.
“Once you start dipping(下降)below six hours, you are starting to accumulate massive sleep debt that can impair a student’s health and study habits, compromising the whole system,” said Creswell.“Most surprising to me was that no matter what we did to make the effect go away, it persisted.”
1.What is the recommended sleep duration for teenagers per night?
A.6 hours. B.6.5 hours.
C.8 to 10 hours. D.Over 10 hours.
2.What’s Paragraph 5 mainly talking about?
A.The process of the research. B.The reason for the research.
C.The result of the research. D.The shortage of the research.
3.What does the underlined word “impair” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.Change. B.Damage.
C.Improve. D.Attack.
4.What surprised Creswell most?
A.Sleep can influence college students’learning.
B.Many college students experience insufficient sleep.
C.College students have poor academic performance for lack of sleep.
D.The negative effect of insufficient sleep on college students won’t disappear.

By day, Robert Titterton is a lawyer. In his spare on stage beside pianist Maria Raspopova — not as a musician but as her page turner. “I’m not a trained musician, but I’ve learnt to read music so I can help Maria in her performance.”
Mr Titterton is chairman of the Omega Ensemble but has been the group’s official page turner for the past four years. His job is to sit beside the pianist and turn the pages of the score so the musician doesn’t have to break the flow of sound by doing it themselves. He said he became just as nervous as those playing instruments on stage.
“A lot of skills are needed for the job. You have to make sure you don’t turn two pages at once and make sure you find the repeats in the music when you have to go back to the right spot.” Mr Titterton explained.
Being a page turner requires plenty of practice. Some pieces of music can go for 40 minutes and require up to 50 page turns, including back turns for repeat passages. Silent onstage communication is key, and each pianist has their own style of “nodding” to indicate a page turn which they need to practise with their page turner.
But like all performances, there are moments when things go wrong. “I was turning the page to get ready for the next page, but the draft wind from the turn caused the spare pages to fall off the stand,” Mr Titterton said, “Luckily I was able to catch them and put them back.”
Most page turners are piano students or up-and-coming concert pianists, although Ms Raspopova has once asked her husband to help her out on stage.
“My husband is the worst page turner,” she laughed. “He’s interested in the music, feeling every note, and I have to say: ‘Turn, turn!’ “Robert is the best page turner I’ve had in my entire life.”323
