Unit 3 How old are you?

This is the last lesson in this module. The main topic is How old are you. This lesson is based on the previous two units.

【知识目标】

1. Using the key words in context: one two three….ten

2. Using the wh-questions to find out a person’s age.

e.g. How old are you? I’m eight.

【能力目标】

1. Using the rhymes to make the students know well about the numbers.

2. Using pair work or group works to have them master the sentence structure.

Share happiness together.

1. Listening and pronouncing the words correctly.  

e.g. one ,two…ten

2. Using Wh-questions to find out a person’s age.

e.g. How old are you?

【教学难点】

Using the right answers to answer the question “How old are you?”

e.g. I’m eight. I’m eight years old. I’m one year old.

Say the rhymes <ten little rabbits> and <one, two, three>

Step3. Presentation

1. one-ten

Ask: what can you see in the rhymes?

To elicit: one --ten

(1) Read and spell.

(2) Read the numbers around us.

E.g. telephone number, house number, car number, etc.

(3) Say some numbers about themselves like this:

My house number is 102.

2. Alice’s birthday

Look at the pictures and answer the questions.

How many …?

To elicit : Alice’s birthday

(1) What do you want to say to Alice?

To elicit:

It’s your birthday today.

—Happy birthday.

—Thank you.

(2) What do you want to ask her?

(3) How old are you?

How old are you, Alice?

a. Read the sentences.

And point to the key to writing this sentence.

b. Compare:

How old are you?

How are you?

Ask Alice together,

To elicit: I’m eight.

(1) Using “I’m…” to talk about their ages.

(2) Tell them:

I’m eight.

＝I’m eight years old.

Look at the picture about other pupils. Then do pair work…  

2. Do a survey.

Ask questions to classmates, and then complete the table.

Read the short passage and have the students repeat the recording.

(1) Listen to the tape, and say which pronunciation they hear.

(4) Find out the different words.

(5) Listen and repeat.
