The popularity of skateboarding has risen and fallen since more than half a century ago, much like skateboarders themselves.
Skateboarding began in California in the 1950s. The first skate-boards were wooden boxes with roller skate(溜冰鞋)wheels under the bottom. They became so popular that skateboard companies soon formed. Later, better skateboards were built with rounded fronts like the boards of today.
By the 1960s, worries about skateboard injuries caused a big drop in sales. The high number of skateboard injuries seen in hospital emergency rooms led to many cities banning skateboarding. City officials strongly advised stores not to sell skateboards and parents not to buy them. Children did not wear helmets(hard hats that could protect their heads)in those days, and the wheels were made of baked clay that couldn’t be controlled easily. As there were no skate parks. skateboarders skated on the streets. They got traffic into trouble and made people who was walking in the street feel upset.
In 1972, a young surfer named Frank Nasworthy came up with the idea of using wheels we have today. made of a soft material. The wheels could hold the ground more tightly, allo-wing for a smoother ride. In 1978, Alan Gelfand developed a trick, called the “Ollie”, where he jumped with his skateboard connected with his feet. The trick was reinvented by Rodney Mullen later. The trick is now the basis for most skateboarding tricks today.
Now, skateboarding has grown in popularity all over the world. The sport can be practised anywhere. Even older generations who used to skate in their youth enjoy skateboarding again.
43.What does Paragraph 2 mainly talk about?
A.Where skateboarding came from. B.What skateboards were made of.

46.Who probably invented the first modern skateboarding trick?

Many of us look at our smartphones hundreds of times a day. We depend on them to finish a lot of tasks and to connect with our friends and family. But have we become addicted (上瘾的) to our phones?
Certainly, the inventor of the first mobile phone, American engineer Martin Cooper, thinks we might be. In a BBC interview, he suggested people should stop scrolling (滚动) and “get a real life”. But of course, once we start watching videos in our smartphones, we just can’t kick the habit. Many of us compulsively (强迫性地) check our phones if we’re waiting for a text or getting really into social media. And then we look up and realize that an hour has passed. There’s even a word — a phubber — to describe a person who ignores the real people around them because they are concentrating on their phones.
But does it matter if we make full use of this technology? Possibly, because like a drug, the problem appears when it is taken away. A study from King’s College London found young people couldn’t control the amount of time they spend on their phones. Such addictive behaviour means that people become unhappy or upset if they are not allowed to use their smartphones, which can cause anxiety and mental health issues.
Interestingly, another study by the scientists of the London School of Economics and Political Science suggests we don’t just look at our phones because of a text or an e-mail. The people they studied felt they can’t help using their phones, just as a smoker would light a cigarette. Professor Saadi Lahlou, one of the writers of the study, told the BBC: “We must learn tricks to avoid the temptation when we want to concentrate or have good social relations.”
    48.What is Martin Cooper’s suggestion?
A.People should use smartphones to get into a real life.
B.People should try to stop using smartphones every day.
C.People should not depend on smartphones too much.
D.People should not depend on smartphones to watch videos.
49.How do people addicted to phones feel without their smartphones?
    A.Worried. B.Embarrassed. C.Afraid. D.Angry.
50.What will the writer talk about following the last paragraph?
A.The answers to the problem. B.The importance of social relations.
C.The disadvantages of smartphones. D.The ways of giving up smoking.
51.What does the underlined word “they” refer to?
    A.The scientists. B.The inventors. C.The smokers. D.The users.
52.What is the best title for the passage?
A.The Use of Smartphones. B.Smartphone Addiction.
C.Try to Lead a Real Life. D.Stay Away from Smartphones.

    五、阅读还原7选5
How quickly can you count from one to ten? Do you use ten different words to do it? Do you count with your fingers? Many people think that numbers and math are the same all over the world. 53 People in different parts of the world use different ways to count with their fingers. In the United States, people stick out their fingers one by one and finally the thumb (拇指) to count to five. 54 In China, people count by using different finger positions. In this way, a Chinese person can easily count to ten on only one hand.
Besides ways of finger counting, cultures and languages are also different when it comes to numbers. 55 Others have no words for numbers. Aboriginal (土著的) people in Australia don’t have hand movements to stand for numbers. They don’t even have words for numbers. However, they are still able to understand different ideas about numbers.
People of the Piraha tribe (部落) in northwestern Brazil don’t have words for numbers such as “one” or “three”. They are not able to say “five trees” or “ten trees” but can say “some trees” or “many trees”. Piraha is a group that does not count. 56 Thus they’ve never picked it up.
Almost all humans are able to understand quantities (数量). 57 Number words in a certain language are the results of people needing numbers in their daily lives.
A.But scientists have discovered that it is not true.
B.People can understand different ideas about numbers.
C.They could learn, but it’s not useful in their culture.
D.A group of scientists studied some ways of counting.
E.Some languages have only a few words for numbers.
F.Then they repeat this with the other hand to get to ten.
G.But not all languages have numbers and not all people use counting.
