Zibo city in Shandong has unexpectedly become famous since late February for its barbecue(烧烤), and this continues as the government takes the chance to promote(推广) tourism and spending in this city.
The latest promotion gives visitors chances to visit 10 places of interest in the city for free with their train tickets as long as their final stop is Zibo. ①Recently, experts are studying how language could influence children’s lives recently. The study carries out a survey of 2, 001 parents with children under the age of 18, along with another survey of more than 500 business leaders.
②According to the study, we discover that children who speak different languages become more aware (意识到) of different cultures, other people and other points of view. This might help them better understand the world around them and then for sure increase their chances of finding better jobs when they grow up. The future job market are in need of space tour guide, robot coach, e-commerce (电商) worker, etc. No matter what a child choose to be, multilinguals (多种语言的人) and cross-culture talents will probably stand a good chance to take the lead.
③But which languages tops the list? Results show that children should be learning French, German, and/or Chinese if they want to be successful in the next ten years. Being able to speak one of these languages opens the door to new markets for businesses and allows them to create new relationships with future business partners.
④In the survey, however, we have also found that not all parents are aware of the importance of their children learning a second language, which is quite shocking. While around 85% of the parents believe that it is important for their children to learn a second language, more than 45% of parents admit (承认) that their child or children cannot speak a second language and even 15% of the parents consider learning a second language a waste of time.
⑤If you want your child to stand out from the crowd, follow the habits of parents of successful people—give children chores, set high but realistic (现实的) expectations, get yourself educated, spend time together—and, of course, make sure they learn a second language, especially one of the three languages!
36.According to the study, learning different languages might _______.

五、阅读回答问题

It has been said that good cooking is an art form. The fact is that it’s much more than that. It’s a way to teach kids necessary skills in daily life. It invites kids to make connections to the outside world by asking, “Where does our food come from? ” and “What is the history of this recipe (食谱)?” And it lets them use what they are learning at school in their real life.
They also test the math skills of young cooks. Measuring ingredients (成分) is a common task in cooking or baking. Cooking also brings science ideas to life. It is a perfect chance for them to learn that oil and water don’t usually mix.
Besides the useful skills, cooking builds personality (个性). It encourages kids to work with others. It also encourages them to be open to foods they might not haven’t tried. Peter, 12, had never eaten broccoli before testing a recipe with broccoli (花菜) in it. His parents reported that he was so excited about this new ingredient that he cooked it for his family the next night.
Failures in cooking are as important as the successes, because they help kids to understand that. _______ When Helen, an 11-year-old girl, took her cake out of the oven, she was disappointed to find that it was flat as a board. But then she decided to work together with her father to find out what had gone wrong. Both of them kept trying many times until they managed to make the most delicious cake ever in the end.
Of course, the best part of cooking with kids is the wonderful memories you make together in the kitchen. This year, Tom and his family have already done a lot of holiday baking, such as their favorite chocolate-chip cookies. They both felt excited even though the kitchen was in a mess.
45.Is cooking a way to teach kids necessary skills in daily life?

As an English learner of at least 3 years, do you know that vocabulary (词汇) is more important than grammar? If you have good vocabulary, you can communicate s 54 , even if the grammar is not perfect.
However, one common problem is that it’s easy for you to 55 the words that you learn. So when you want to use a new word in a conversation, you can’t think of it at that moment. Does this often happen to you? The reason for this difficulty is that most students learn vocabulary by studying lists and dictionaries and remembering the words. But this way may not 56 if you don’t have a very good memory.
The best way to learn vocabulary and remember the words, is to learn new words and use 57 at once. You can do this with a very simple exercise. Every time you learn a new word, write it down in your vocabulary notebook. Writing is more h 58 than just reading a definition (释义). You should write the word, the definition in English or translation, one example sentence from the article or dictionary and one example sentence that you create.
Imagine you just learn the word “generous”, write in your vocabulary notebook: generous (adjective) definition —giving or willing to give freely. Example one, from the article: Thanks 59 paying for my dinner. You’re very generous. Example two, my example: My brother is generous because he volunteers at the animal shelter on weekends. It’s best if your example sentences are true to your life, 60 this creates a personal connection with the new word. The next day, read your vocabulary notebook again and try to add one more example sentence using the new word. These two simple 61 — writing the word and then using it at once —help you remember and use new words.
Do you have a vocabulary notebook? If not, start now.
