In 1858, people saw two lights on the streets for traffic in London. They were red and blue. Now the traffic lights are the same in every country. There are always three colours—red, yellow and green. Red is dangerous. It shows “ Stop and wait ”. Green is safe. It means “ Go”. When you see the yellow light, that means a warning: Please slow down and wait. The traffic lights are policemen who can’t talk. Everyone should follow their instructions.
