如把two weeks换成fortnight; significant换成important。

All customers travelling on TransLink services must be in possession of a valid ticket before boarding. For ticket information, please ask at your local station or call 13 12 30.
While Queensland Rail makes every effort to ensure trains run as scheduled, there can be no guarantee of connections between trains or between train services and bus services.
21.What would you do to get ticket information?
    A.Call 13 16 17.
    B.Visit translink.com.au.
    C.Ask at the local station.
    D.Check the train schedule.
    第一步:找关键词:ticket information;第二步:定位到原文:在原文中定位原词ticket information,确定关键句为第一段的第二句“For ticket information,please ask at your local station or call 13 12 30.”。
For ticket information, please ask your local station or call 13 12 30.

Peer ( 同伴 ) Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) is a peer-facilitated learning programme available to students enrolled ( 注册 ) in most core units of study in our business school.
PASS involves weekly sessions where you work in groups to tackle specially prepared problem sets, based around a unit of study you’re enrolled in.
PASS doesn’t re-teach or deliver new content. It’s an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the key points from lecture materials while you are applying your skills to solve problems.
You work interactively with your peers. As a peer group, you decide what is covered in each session. That way, PASS directly responds to your needs and feedback.
Registration in Term 2 will open at 9 am, 21 September 2022.
    Waiting lists
If a session is full, you can register for the waiting list. We will email you if a place becomes available or if a new session is to be held.
When you are placed on a waiting list, we will email you a number which tells you where you are on the list. If you are close to the front of the list, you have a good chance of gaining a place in the programme in the near future.
    Deregistering
If you miss two PASS sessions in a row, you will be deregistered and your place will be given to someone on the waiting list. Make sure you fill in the attendance sheet at each session to record your attendance.
You’ll be informed by email if you are being deregistered as a result of missing sessions. If you believe you have received the email in error, email the PASS office at passoffice@umbs. edu..

Getting into college is a big step for high school graduates, and it comes with a lot of changes. For most students, it’s the first time they’re living away from home and managing their own life. Not surprisingly, adapting to this new lifestyle can be challenging. The following four tips will make high school graduates better prepared for college life.
    Goal setting
When setting goals, whether they’re academic, career, or personal, re-member they should be attainable but not too easy, so that you really have to push yourself to achieve them, and feel rewarded when you do. Writing down your goals and breaking down each huge, long-term goal into smaller more practical ones can help make it feel more real, and writing out a plan for achieving it can give you a roadmap to success.
    Interpersonal skills
At college, you will interact with fellow students, professors, librarians, and many others. Strong interpersonal skills will help you build relationships during this time, and get more out of them. If you feel that your interpersonal skills need some work, practice asking thoughtful questions and listening closely, develop your understanding by putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, and enhance your self-confidence.
    Studying
With fewer in-class hours and more on-your-own learning, you’re required to really digest learning material rather than simply memorize facts. To be successful in college you’ll need to learn how to integrate large amounts of information obtained through reading, do research, and write papers. Organization is the key, so if you are not someone who is naturally organized, set up your study schedule.
    Budgeting
Managing money is a critical life skill, and for many, it is at college that they develop it for the first time. Start by estimating your financial balance. Then give high priority to the expenses on basic needs and determine how much money to set aside every month to cover those costs. Don’t forget about savings…and the fun stuff(movies, dinners out), too.
    36. Who is this passage most probably written for?
    A. College teachers. B. University graduates.
    C. High school teachers. D. Would-be college students.
    37. What is the author’s suggestion for reaching a huge goal?
    A. Divide it into smaller, more achievable ones.
    B. Reward oneself for each goal one has set.
    C. Purchase a clear, updated roadmap.
    D. Push oneself to an upper level.
    38. One of the suggested ways to enhance your interpersonal skills is to ________.
    A. prepare complicated questions B. try on someone else’s shoes
    C. listen to others carefully D. take advantage of others
    39. What is the key to successful college study according to the author?
    A. Being well-organized. B. Being well-informed.
    C. Effective reading skills. D. Reliable research methods.
    40. To learn how to manage money, the first thing to do is________.
    A. save money for financial investment B. estimate one’s income and expenses
    C. set aside money for fun activities D. open a personal bank account

    Skiddaw in Winter
    Cumbria, England
It was an extremely cold winter's evening and freezing fog hung in the air. I climbed to the top of a small rise and realised that the mist was little more than a few feet deep, and though it was only a short climb, I found myself completely above it and looking at a wonderfully clear view of Skiddaw with the sum setting in the west. I used classical techniques, translated from my college days spent in the darkroom into Photoshop, to achieve the black—and—white image(图像).

The small pine added to the interest and I placed it centrally to take the view from the foreground right through into the forest.

The Biggest Stadiums in the World
People have been pouring into stadiums since the days of ancient Greece. In around 80 A.D., the Romans built the Colosseum, which remains the world’s best known stadium and continues to inform contemporary design. Rome’s Colosseum was 157 feet tall and had 80 entrances, seating 50,000 people. However, that was small fry compared with the city’s Circus Maximus, which accommodated around 250,000 people.
These days, safety regulations-not to mention the modern sports fan’s desire for a good view and comfortable seat—tend to keep stadium capacities(容量)slightly lower. Even soccer fans tend to have a seat each; gone are the days of thousands standing to watch the match.
For the biggest stadiums in the world, we have used data supplied by the World Atlas list so far, which ranks them by their stated permanent capacity, as well as updated information from official stadium websites.

Cold rains, icy sidewalks and gray skies can make winter travel a trial. But hot drinks, snowy slopes, frozen lakes and blue skies full of fresh air? That’s the kind of winter we can all have a try. Here are some cities around the world that make for a great cold-weather destination.
    Prague, Czech Republic
With its snow-capped towers and cobbled winding streets, Prague is a fairytale city that remains relatively tourist-free in winter. The unusual and impressive architecture looks even prettier under a sheet of snow. Gas street lamps throughout the city center add a romantic color to evenings. Cafes here are ideal for escaping the bitter cold. The fascinating Estates Theatre, where Mozart conducted the world premiere(首演) of “Don Giovanni” in 1787, is a must.

Tromso, known as the capital of the Arctic, is great in winter. It’s widely regarded as Norway’s most beautiful city and is a base for spotting the northern lights. There are also fascinating museums, including the Polar Museum, which offers an insight into the history of Arctic expeditions, and the Tromso Museum, famous for its Sami exhibitions.
    Amsterdam, Netherlands
In winter, Amsterdam’s museums are much less crowded, making it the time to visit attractions such as Rijksmuseum or the Anne Frank House. Built originally to house a circus, the Royal Carré Theatre is more than 130 years old. Children will love the spectacular performances.
    Edinburgh, Scotland
Cobbled streets, a beautiful castle and lovely public gardens make Edinburgh a beautiful city any time of year, but in winter it’s breathtaking. Princes Street Gardens is transformed into a wonderland, with ice skating rinks, enormous Christmas trees and a Ferris wheel. On the edge of the city, Arthur’s Seat is the perfect location for a winter walk and the views from the top are second to none.

    A.No charge for all tourists.
    B.Iconic architectures covered by snow.
C.Colorful gas lamps for street lighting.

Grain Rain, as the last term in spring, starts on April 20 and ends on May 5. The Grain Rain signals the end of cold weather and a rapid rise in temperature. Here are four things that you may not know about the Grain Rain.
    Key time for agriculture
Grain Rain brings a marked increase in temperature and rainfall and the grains grow faster and stronger. It’s a key time to protect the crops from insect pests.
    Sandstorms occur
Grain Rain falls between the end of spring and the beginning of summer, with infrequent cold air moving to the south and lingering cold air in the north. From the end of April to the beginning of May, the temperature rises much higher than it does in March. With dry soil, an unsteady atmosphere and heavy winds, sandstorms become more frequent.
    Drinking tea
There is an old custom in southern China that people drink tea on the day of Grain Rain. Spring tea during Grain Rain is rich in vitamins and amino acids, which can help to remove heat from the body and is good for the eyes. It is also said that drinking tea on this day would prevent bad luck.
    Grain Rain Festival
The Grain Rain festival is celebrated by fishing villages in the coastal areas of northern China. Grain Rain marks the start of the fishermen’s first voyage of the year. The custom dates back more than 2, 000 years ago, when people believed they owed a good harvest to the gods, who protected them from the stormy seas. People would worship the sea and stage sacrifice rites on the Grain Rain festival, praying for a bountiful harvest and a safe voyage for their loved ones.
25.Which of the following is true about Grain Rain?
    A.It covers over 20 days.
B.It is the first term in Spring.
    C.Both temperature and rainfall increase.
    D.Cold air still comes frequently.
26.Why do people drink tea on the day of Grain Rain?
A.The tea is good for health.
B.It will surely bring good luck.
    C.Tea leaves are newly picked.
D.It helps keep off insect pests.
27.Who would probably observe Grain Rain Festival?
    A.Farmers. B.Fishermen. C.Tea makers. D.Weathermen.

    Frequently Asked Questions about Assessment
Does it matter if my coursework is too long or too short?
The word count for each piece of coursework should be provided on the title page. IOE allows a 10% margin(差额)on the word limit set for the coursework. For example, if the word limit is 5, 000 words, you can submit an assessment of between 4, 500 and 5, 500 words. Note that if your work exceeds (超出)the 10% margin, it will automatically fail.
When is the deadline for coursework assignments?
Final deadlines for coursework submissions are normally 2 calendar moths after the end of term in which the module runs. Coursework deadlines will be published on your programme webpage at the start of the academic year. The deadline for reports is normally the first working day in September. Note that you MUST submit your coursework by the deadline and that failure to do so in automatic fail.
When will I receive the grade and feedback for my coursework?
Your coursework and report are independently marked by two members of staff. Once the markers have agreed a grade, you will be informed of your results by the programme administrator. We aim to complete this process within 4 weeks of the submission deadline. Feedback and grades are not guaranteed within 4 weeks for extended, delayed, or resubmitted coursework. In special circumstances, you may apply for additional time to complete your coursework but must submit the evidence proving you are impacted by unforeseen factors. The time should be not later than two weeks before the original deadline.
If you are in any doubt about the assessment, please contact the programme administrator.
28.What results in an automatic fail?
    A.Exceeding the word limit.
    B.Not providing the word count.
    C.Missing the coursework deadline.
    D.Not publishing the coursework.
29.What can you do if you have doubts about the feedback you received?
    A.Consult the programme administrator.
B.Submit evidence to support your case.
C.Revise your coursework based on the feedback.
D.Contact the markers who provided the feedback.
30.Where is this text probably taken from?
    A.A textbook. B.An exam paper.
C.An academic article. D.A programme handbook.
    【答案】28.C 29.A 30.D
根据第一段“Note that if your work exceeds the 10% margin, it will automatically fail.(请注意,如果您的字数超过10%的余量,它将自动失败)”以及第二段“Note that you MUST submit your coursework by the deadline and that failure to do so results in an automatic fail.(请注意,你必须在截止日期前提交课程作业,否则将自动不及格)”可知自动不及格的情况有两种,论文字数超出规定字数的10%和未在规定时间上传作业。
根据文章最后一段“If you are in any doubt about the assessment, please contact the program me administrator.(如果您对评估有任何疑问,请联系项目管理员)”可知,如果对课程作业评估有质疑,可以联系该研究课程的管理员。故选A。
