For my birthday I wanted to visit Yosemite National Park with my family. But since I didn't book a hotel or cabin many weeks in advance, we had to go and come back on the same day.
Peter and I travel to Yosemite National Park at least once a year, but my family hadn't been there in years. And it was my little sister's first visit. I wanted this to be an unforgettable trip.
We started our day at about 10:30 a. m. in the park and left the park at about 9:00 p. m. Tunnel View is the mandatory (必须的) first stop in Yosemite. If it's your first time in Yosemite National Park, you'll want to stay there for hours and admire the beauty and grandness of the park. Tunnel View will take your breath away.
In this scenic viewpoint, you're able to see Half Dome, Yosemite Valley, El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall. Tunnel View is where everyone can get"the shot". You'll take an excellent photo that looks like a postcard.
Bridalveil Fall is the waterfall you can see in the distance while standing at Tunnel View. It is also the first waterfall you can stop at to see up close. There is a paved walkway from the parking lot to the base of the waterfall. We were there at the end of July, so there wasn't much water but in the spring and early summer, the water is flowing in large amounts.
As it gets towards the end of your Yosemite day trip, start making your way out of Yosemite Valley towards Glacier Point. If you get there before sunset, enjoy the short hikes to get different views of the valley and Half Dome. About five minutes before sunset, a park ranger (管理员) comes and gives a talk about the sunset in Yosemite National Park.
35. Why didn't the family stay longer in Yosemite National Park?
A. The author didn't plan well ahead
B. They were in a hurry to go to work.
C. The natural beauty wasn't attractive to them.
D. They had to prepare for the author's birthday.
36. What do we know about Bridalveil Fall?
A. People can only watch it from far away.
B. The best time to admire it is in July.
C. It has a lot of water all year round.
D. People can walk to the base of it.
37. Where can people enjoy the sunset in Yosemite National Park?
A. At Half Dome.
B. At Glacier Point.
C. At Tunnel View.
D. At Yosemite Valley.

When you think of a national park, you generally picture fresh air and wild animals, right? Well, now you're going to have to add tea shops and something called “the Underground” to your definition, because London, England has signed up to be the first “National Park City.”
London was founded by the Romans around 2,000 years ago and people have continually lived there since then. In all that time, however, nobody had the idea to replace all the parks with big box stores or high buildings, which means London already has a much lower urban density(密度)than most of the world's cities. Nowadays about a third of the city is green space.
In July 2019 London announced its willingness to become the world's first National Park City. Now the city is moving toward the goal of achieving 50% green space by the year 2050 by connecting and increasing public parks, greening unused parking lots and the private yards of existing and new houses, and fixing some green roofs an existing building.
“Encouraged by the aims and values of our rural national parks, the London National. Park City is basically about making life better in the capital through both small everyday things and long-term thinking,” Daniel Raven-Ellison, who began the movement to make London at National Park City six years ago, said. “We've been doing that in London for centuries, which is why London is so green.” It's about going further to make the city greener, healthier and. wilder; making the city richer in wildlife.
London will have a much easier job achieving this type of green transformation than more. densely-urbanized cities like Paris and New York, which have. 10% and 27% green space. respectively. But that doesn't mean it's not possible — the National Park City Foundation hopes to include 25 more cities in addition to London. by the year 2025. Glasgow, Scotland and Newcastle upon Tyne in northeast England are both considering becoming National Park Cities.
38. What makes London more likely to become a National Park City than other cities?
A. Its smaller population.
B. Its locals' requirements.
C. Its government's strict law.
D. Its wider area of green space.
39. Where can you find out about London's measures to achieve its goal?
A. In Paragraph 1. B. In Paragraph 2.
C. In Paragraph 3 . D. In Paragraph 4.
40. What does Daniel try to talk about in the fourth paragraph?
A. The importance of his movement.
B. The values of newly-founded parks.
C. The influence of green space on cities.
D. The preparation for setting up a movement.
41. What would be the best title for the text?
A. London is leading the world in park construction.
B. London becomes the world's first National Park City.
C. London is listed as the world's most-visited city.
D. London has built the world's first underground park.

Controlling how women dress, both in and out of the workplace, is nothing new. In ancient Greece, officials ensured that women dressed"appropriately".; Strict codes(规约)were designed to remind women of their place in society. In the following thousand years, not much. has changed.
In the early 20th century, women began entering the workplace in large numbers. But only, women who worked in factories or on farms could wear trousers. ,Women, who worked in offices had to wear the skirts and jewellery expected of their, sex. They wanted to break the glass ceiling and, with the popular idea of dressing, for success, they wore suits with big shoulder pads(垫肩).
Today, what women wear in the workplace has as, many varieties as the jobs women do. However traditional standards for women's appearances still remain. In 2010, the Swiss bank UBS came under fire after its dress code got known, including detailed guidelines on applying makeup(化妆品) and avoiding small shoes that might cause women to have unnatural smiles. while there’re also dress codes. for men, they mainly represent professionalism. But to dress, like a woman suggests woman are decorative in the workplace. It ignores that women have independent ideas of how they wish to present themselves.
I have never been good at dressing like a woman. Throughout my 20s, I held different jobs, and what I wore to work ranged from jeans to T-shirts. In graduate school, I first thought that, when I became. a professor,I would have to wear suits to work, to look the par of someone, with a PhD. I quickly realized that there was no standard look to this par. Now I generally teach in jeans and dress shirts.

When I was young, I asked my grandmother, “Why is the sea so big?” She thought for a moment and replied, “Because he knows how to combine all the rivers”, smiling. Today, I can still recall that smile on my grandmother’s face because from that lesson, I have learned the importance of integration.
Kipling said, “East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet!” But now, a century later, they have met. They have met in business. They have met in education. They have met in arts. Some would argue that these meetings leave us with a choice between East and West, but I believe the best future lies in the creative combination of both worlds. We can make Western ideas, customs and technology our own, and adapt them to our use so that we can enjoy the best of all worlds. This is our best tradition.
But, do Western styles and values threaten our identity? History makes it easy for us to think so — perhaps too easy. Some people seem to think that adopting Western customs, such as a bride wearing white which has long been a color of sadness in China, instead of the traditional Chinese red for her wedding, is a betrayal of our tradition. They fear that as we become globalized, we will no longer be Chinese. However, I do not agree. The wedding of Eastern and Western cultures, whether in white gowns(礼服)or red, brings us variety. Actually, the best attitude towards the trend lies in the lesson history teaches us — a strong and confident nation is at ease in learning from the outside world.
As a lover of Chinese cuisine, our superb flavors(口味)delight me. But my Chinese taste appreciates good food from any land. I even allow the convenience of McDonald’s a place in my life without giving up my good taste. My grandfather taught me to sing Beijing opera from the time I was very young. It is deep in my spirit, part of my soul. I love Beijing opera, because it always reminds me of who I am. But I am also a fan of modern pop music, the No.1 fan of Spice Girls on campus.
Of course, it goes far beyond food, music and dance. It goes into values and ways of thinking about the world.
46. What’s the meaning of the underlined word “integration”? (1Word )
47. According to the writer, in what aspects have East and West met? ( No more than 8 words )
48. What is the most important quality of our traditions according to the passage? ( No more than 15 words )
49. What’s the best title for the passage? ( No more than 10 words )
50. What is your attitude towards “globalized”? Please explain in your own words ( No more than 20 words )
【答案】46. Combination.
47. In business, education and arts.
48. Selecting / To select the best and make it our own.
Making western ideas, customs and technology our own and adapting them to our use.
49. East and West Have Met
50. I hold a positive attitude towards it, for only by combining west and east can we achieve a better world.

【答案】 My Favorite Sport
Many people like different sports. My favorite sport is basketball.
The first time I watched an NBA game, I became crazy about basketball because the stars looked so cool on TV. Ever since then, I have lost my heart to the sport.
I love basketball for two main reasons. For one thing, it requires me to run, jump, switch and try on hit! I’m like wind flying for my goal, which makes me feel so great! For another, basketball, a team sport, makes it necessary to cooperate with others. Therefore, I can make many good friends while playing it.
I have played basketball for more than 5years, and it will still be my favorite sport in the future.
