Unit 4 What’s the best movie theater?

The First Period Section A 1a-2c

Teaching aims（教学目标）

1．学会用形容词与副词的比较级与最高级谈论周围的事物。

2.  能够熟练的运用本节课出现的形容词与副词的比较级与最高级。

Language points（语言点）

1. 要求掌握以下句式：What’s the best movie theater to go to?

                    Town Cinema. It’s the closest to home. And you can buy tickets the

most quickly there.

 Which is the worst clothes store in town?

 What do you think of …?

2．要求掌握以下词汇：

（1）动词：choose

（2）名词：theater, seat, ticket, song, reporter

（3）副词：cheaply, carefully

 (4) 词组：close to

（本节课的生词较少，而且单词的拼写比较简单，所以学生学起来不会感到困难，但是一些形容词与副词比较级与最高级的特殊变化，可能成为学生掌握的难点，如果班级学生的水平较高，可以鼓励学生当堂掌握。）

Difficulties（难点）：形容词与副词的比较级与最高级

Teaching steps（教学步骤）

1. Warm-up and revision（课堂热身和复习）

（1）Greetings （问候）

T: Hello, everyone! Are you ready for today’s lesson?

S: Yes!

T: All of you were tall two years ago, but now you are all taller.

（2）Chant

    Good, better, best

    Never let it rest,

    till good is better,

 and better is best.

    Bad, worse, worst

    Never fight against.

    Get better and better,

    and you'll be the best.

    Let’s try to do our best in everything, not the worst.

(教师把“good, better, best; bad, worse, worst” 板书在黑板上)

教学设计说明：通过简洁的chant，让学生对比较级，最高级有初步的认识，同时进行德育渗透。

2. Presentation（呈现新知识）

Show some pictures of cars on the screen.:

T: Now, tell me. Is this car good?

S: Yes.

T: How about this one? Is it better?

S: Yes. (Have Ss repeat “better”.)

T: And how about this one? Is it the best of the three?

S: Yes. (Have Ss repeat “best”)

Repeat the same conversation with Ss with the next two slides about the weather and computers.

(教师在重复时应用夸张的语调来强调better, best这两个单词，然后让学生跟读)

(教师采用类似方法呈现bad, worse, worst; cheap, cheaper, cheapest）

教学设计说明：通过与生活息息相关的图片，直观的呈现物品的优劣差异，从而引出生词。 能够排除学生在接收新知时受到其他障碍。

3. Work on 1a

T: What kinds of movies do you like to watch?

S: I like ...

T: What kinds of movie theaters do you like going to?

Try to elicit these vocabulary words from Ss: comfortable seats, shortest waiting time, best sound, big screens.

T: What is important or not important for you when you choose a movie theater?

(让学生首先根据自己想法选择，然后小组交流)

4. Work on 1b

T: Listen and match the statements with the movie theaters.

(教师放录音，因为对话简单教师可以在放完一遍录音以后就订正答案)

(可以让学生讨论之后给出答案，然后教师再给出准确的讲解 ）

5. Work on 1c

Have one student to read the conversation aloud.

T: Look at the picture in 1a. Ask and answer questions in pairs, “What’s the best movie theater?”

(给学生练习的时间)

6. Work on 2a & 2b

T: Listen to a reporter interviewing a boy. Circle the boy's answers.

(教师放录音，因为对话难度加深，教师可以根据学生反应选择再放一遍录音以后订正答案)

(可以让学生讨论之后给出答案，然后教师再给出准确的讲解 ）

(听第二遍，完成2b内容。)

7. Work on 2c

T: Student A, you are the reporter. Student B, you are the boy. Role-play a conversation using the information in 2a and 2b.

A: Hello! I’m a reporter. Can I ask you some questions?

B: Sure.

A: What’s the best clothing store in town?

B: I think Miller’s is the best.

A: Why do you think so?

B: Well, Miller's has ...
