It operates the same way as other smart speakers in the Echo line, allowing users to ask the device to play music or give the latest news headlines. The kids version comes with a free subscription to Amazon Kids＋， which has access to child­friendly digital books and games. Its battery can last around seven hours on a full charge, starting at $49.99 at amazon.com.

When I tell people I wrote a book with my dad, they usually say，“It must be nice to think of the legacy (遗产) you created with someone who means so much to you.”

This was a beautiful idea, but it was not the way I，or my dad，ever thought about the cooperation. Though we created something we were proud of, “nice” was not the word either of us used to describe the process.

“It was more confrontation(对抗) than cooperation，” my dad likes to say. I agree.

When we landed a book deal, we began a writing journey that was more difficult than either of us had expected, but also far more rewarding.

For almost three years, we met once or twice a week at my parents' house and talked daily about the plan and the outline of each chapter. However, my dad felt the book should include chapters dealing with things like walking and spending time with family. Finally, I saw it his way. He said the book was about more than just good vices. It was about encouraging people to enjoy life in healthy ways.

Writing this book is a reminder that our family members share not only our faults but also our strengths. My dad is smart, funny, critical and caring. He has a strong passion for the truth. I hope I share these great qualities. For this book, he researched each topic with an enthusiasm I had never seen from him, and he insisted that we constantly question and critically analyse every piece of information — even our own conclusions. He was determined to cooperate with me on a book, not because he could not write one on his own, but because he believed that we could create something better together than we could alone.

I was not sure if our cooperation led to better writing，but it led to a better writing experience.Writing this book was difficult，sometimes more difficult than past projects, but it was never lonely.

(2022·湖北巴东一中高三模拟)Imagine a world where you move around in front of a personal computer in your own sound space. You listen to your favourite songs, play loud computer games or watch a movie — all without other people hearing the sound and without headphones.

That is the possibility presented by “sound beaming”， a new technology from Noveto Systems, an Israeli company. On Friday, the company introduced a desktop device that sends sound directly to a listener without the need for headphones or a special receiver.

Noveto Systems gave The Associated Press (AP) a chance to test its SoundBeamer 1.0 before its introduction. The AP's Louise Dixon writes that listening to the device is like something from a science fiction movie. The sound seems so close that it feels like it is inside your ears while also in front, above and behind them.

Noveto expects the device will have many uses. Office workers could listen to music or conference calls without others hearing. People could play a game, a movie or music without waking up others in the same room. Because the device does not use headphones, it is possible to hear other sounds in the room clearly.

The device uses a 3­D sensing module that finds and follows the ear position of the listener. It sends ultrasonic waves (超声波) to create sound pockets by the user's ears. The 3­D method creates sound on all sides of the listener, therefore the listeners feel completely transported into the scene.

By changing a setting, the sound can follow a listener around when he moves his head. It is also possible to move out of the sound beam's path and hear nothing at all.

While the idea of sound beaming is not new, Noveto was the first to launch the technology.

According to the chief executive officer Christophe Ramstein, a “smaller” version of the device will be ready for release to consumers next year.

Dogs and horses may not be the closest teammates, but the two animals can have their fair share of fun — at times even playing together and mimicking (模仿)each other's facial expressions, a new research suggests. These findings, published in the journal Behavioural Processes, mark the first example of so­called rapid facial mimicry occurring between play partners of different species, and suggest the existence of a universal language of play.

Though the purpose behind play remains unclear, scientists suspect the behaviour is to help animals develop hunting and social skills, relieve stress or promote relationships with each other. Learning more about the contexts in which different animals play together could tell researchers a lot about play's origins and development. But apart from a handful of studies featuring humans and their pets, scientists haven't had many chances to analyse examples of interspecies' plays.

In 2018, when someone sent Palagi, an animal behaviourist, a video where a dog and a horse play together, interacting with each other fluently, she took the chance to investigate further. The two species were good choices for study, because they both could recognise facial expressions in other animals. Gathering a team, Palagi began to collect and analyse hundreds of other videos where canines (犬类) and equids (马科动物) played together.

At last, 20 videos were picked out: showing animals freely playing on their own, for at least 30 seconds, without human involvement. In the videos, dogs and horses often mimicked each other's moves, jumping, pushing and even biting slightly and naughtily at each other. They also put themselves in weak and easily attacked positions, such as rolling on their backs, displaying their throats and stomachs — a strong sign that they were at ease and even showing their friendliness.

The two creatures also frequently mimicked each other's facial expressions, both adopting the relaxed, open mouths — a behaviour that's been noted in wild, social primates(灵长类动物)，but never between a pair of animals of different species.

(2021·山东泰安一模)Online courses can be a great way to learn. They're quite helpful if you're a busy college student who tries to balance coursework with a job.   1   But how can you successfully finish an online course?

Make sure you can reliably get online.

Ensure that you have chances to work online for several hours at a time. It's best if you have high speed Internet at home. That's because most online courses include materials like videos.   2

Make a timetable.

With online courses, you can complete the work on your own time. However, you still need to create a plan and manage your time properly to finish the course.   4   For example, you could choose to devote Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7－8 p．m. to working on your class.

Behave properly in class.

How? Address your classmates and your professor by their name or title. And do not be disrespectful to others. For example, during discussion avoid saying, “That's a stupid statement.” Instead, just say, “I disagree because ...” Disagreement is fine.   5
