三、阅读单选
A livestreaming platform(直播平台)once tried to broadcast classroom situations live(现场直播)including students having classes or self-studying. It raised a heated discussion. Here are some students’ opinions.
Student A: I agree with it. When I watched the videos, I saw some adults said, “It reminds me of my school life” and “The way they focus on studying is so wonderful. I want to go back to my school time.” It is true that we should have our privacy(隐私)but the livestreaming show reminds adults of their wonderful memories of school. It’s a good thing.
Student B: I support the idea. Students’ parents can see what they are doing at school. It will help them know their children better. What’s more, I think if students know they are on a live show, they will behave themselves. Teachers will try to make their classes more interesting.
Student C: In my opinion, it’s bad to show students’ performances in the classroom on the Internet. It violates(侵犯)their privacy. Not only can the parents of these kids watch it on their computers or mobile phones, but also other people in society. It’s dangerous, because some people may make use of the videos in a bad way and hurt these students.
Student D: This act doesn’t respect students. Through the live broadcast, people across the country can see the students’ acts without those students even knowing about it. If it is an open class and the school has got the students’ permission(允许), it will be fine. But now it seems that the platform is directly putting the videos on the Internet without permission. This will make the students uncomfortable.
21.How many students clearly support the livestream?
A.One. B.Two. C.Three. D.Four.
22.With the livestream, Student B thinks that ________.
A.students will value their school life more
B.teachers don’t need to monitor the classroom
C.parents will know their kids better
D.students might study under pressure
23.What right(权利)does Student D think livestreaming violates?
A.The right to be equal. B.The right of education.
C.The right to express oneself freely. D.The right of privacy.
There was once a company in the United States said that it would offer a large amount or money to anyone who could find a white marigold(金盏花). Most marigolds are either golden or brown. It is very hard to find a white one.
Twenty years later, the company received a letter from an old woman. She sent 100 white marigold seeds along with the letter.
The woman was a fan of flowers. Her father worked in a flower shop and she learned many skills from him. When she first heard the company’s offer 20 years ago, she got very excited. She thought she could grow her own white marigolds. But her children doubted her. She knew nothing about seed genetics(遗传学) after all. So her dream of growing white marigolds was just that—a dream.
Still, she didn’t give up and worked to make it happen. She planted some common marigolc seeds and took good care of them. A year later, when the marigolds bloomed, she chose one of the faintest (颜色最浅的) flowers and took its seeds. She planted these seeds and waited another year for them to bloom.
Day after day, year after year, through many seasons, her life changed. Her husband died, her children moved away, and many other things happened. But her wish to grow white marigolds remained strong in her heart.
Finally, after 20 years, she went out to her garden and found a marigold that was just as white as the snow.
24.What did the woman’s family think of her decision?
A.Her children didn’t believe in her.
B.They researched marigolds themselves.
C.They helped her learn seed genetics.
D.Her husband stopped her from growing flower.
25.How did she grow the white marigolds?
A.By changing the marigold seeds’ genes.
B.By growing the seeds in different seasons.
C.By choosing lightly-colored flowers’ seeds.
D.By painting the golden and brown flowers white.
26.What does Paragraph 5 tell us?
A.The woman’s life was full of sadness.
B.It was hard for the woman to achieve her dream.
C.The woman cared about money more than her family.
D.The woman stuck to her dream no matter how life changed.
On the first day of school, children can be very nervous. However, sometimes parents are more nervous than the students themselves. A new British survey shows that one in three parents are worried that their children will not make friends when they start school.
The survey was carried out by Action for Children, an organization in the UK. They questioned more than 2000 parents and found that parents are more likely to care about their children’s ability to make friends than their lessons. 33% of the parents put not making friends on top of the list of their worries about their children, while just 11% of the parents said their main worry is that their children will not be able to keep up with the schoolwork.
Everyone needs friends. They can bring happiness and hope in our lives. However, the ability to make friends is different from person to person. To some people, making friends is easy and to others it’s very difficult. We all have the ability to make friends. Unluckily, many people never reach their potential(潜力). Making friends is a skill, and the first step in developing that skill is to know how to get along with others.
It’s natural for some children to feel nervous if they don’t know how to get on well with others in a new environment. However, parents and teachers should help them learn some basic social skills such as sharing, helping, teamwork and communication.
It’s necessary for parents to teach their child to know the importance of having friends. Let him or her know having hundreds of online friends is not the same as having a friend he or she can connect and be with in person every day.
27.The survey made by Action for Children shows that ________.
A.less than 2000 parents were questioned
B.11% of the students can’t keep up with the schoolwork
C.parents care more about lessons of their children than friends making
D.33% of the parents are most worried about their children’s making friends
28.What is the first thing to make friends?
A.To be yourself. B.To learn to get on with others.
C.To help others do something. D.To know the importance of having friends.
29.Which of the following statements is NOT basic social skills?
A.Read an interesting book.
B.Finish a project together with others.
C.Give a hand to those in need.
D.Share your traveling experience with others.
30.The best title of the passage may be ___________.
A.The Importance of Learning English
B.Children How to Make Friends
C.Don’t Be Nervous in School
D.Making Friends: True or False
What can trees tell us about climate(气候) change? Quite a lot, actually! But to understand what the trees tell us, we first have to understand the difference between weather and climate.
Weather is a specific(具体的) event— like a rainstorm or hot day— that happens over a short period of time. Weather can be tracked(追踪) within hours or days. Climate is the weather conditions in a place over a long period of time (30 years or more).
Scientists at the National Weather Service have been keeping track of weather in the United States since 1891. But trees can keep a much longer record of Earth’s climate. In fact, trees can live for hundreds— and sometimes even thousands of years.
One way that scientists use trees to learn about past climate is by studying a tree’s rings. If you’ve ever seen a tree stump(树桩), you probably noticed that the top of the stump had some rings.
These rings can tell us how old the tree is, and what the weather was like during each year of the tree’s life. The light-colored rings represent wood that grew in the spring and early summer, while the dark rings represent wood that grew in the late summer and fall. One light ring and one dark ring represents one year of the tree’s life.
Because trees are sensitive to local climate conditions, such as rain and temperature, they give scientists some information about that area’s local climate in the past. For example, tree rings usually grow wider in warm, wet years and they are thinner in years when it is cold and dry. If the tree has experienced difficult conditions, such as a drought(干旱), the tree might hardly grow at all in those years.
31.Paragraph 2 is developed mainly by ________.
A.making comparisons B.telling stories C.showing causes D.following the time order
32.Dark rings would appear when the tree grew in ________.
A.spring B.early summer C.fall D.late winter
33.The underlined part “are sensitive to” in the last paragraph means ________.
A.get used to B.are easily influenced by
C.help to protect D.make a big difference to
34.Which picture shows the rings in dry seasons?
A. B.
C. D.
35.What is the text mainly about?
A.The life of a tree. B.Tree rings and seasons.
C.The need to plant trees. D.Trees and climate change.

Plastic is a great invention. It has many advantages. It’s strong, it lasts a long time, and it’s cheap. So it is very popular in most of the countries. But have you seen photos of turtles accidentally eating plastic bags? You feel sad, right? So, many countries today have reduced some plastic products. But now we have a new plastic problem—plastic waste from the pandemic(瘟疫).
You might have noticed facemasks(口罩) littering the streets. They’ve become a part of day-to-day life, but where do they end up? It’s said that around 1. 5 billion facemasks entered the oceans in 2020! And it’s not just masks. During the COVID-19 pandemic, people produced more than 8 million tons of extra plastic waste. 87% of this comes from hospitals! After we are done using it, this waste goes on a journey of its own. Some of it ends up in the ocean.
The plastic in the ocean can hurt or kill the wildlife living there. Fish, seabirds, turtles, and whales all accidentally eat plastic waste. And it’s not just them—some of the plastic breaks up into tiny pieces that can end up in the food we eat, too.
For our plastic problem to end, we need everyone to play a role. There are lots of actions you can take to help reduce the plastic problem.
· Reduce your use of single-use plastics, like water bottles and takeout boxes.
· Recycle properly. Find out the things that can be recycled in your local area, and make sure that you recycle everything that you can.
Organize or take part in a beach or river clean-up. Help to clean up plastics from the ocean and stop them from getting there in the first place.
· Spread the word! Help others to be part of the solution.

As we all know, it’s normal for teenagers to face pressure when they prepare for the important exam in their life. Here is some advice for them.
First, we need to have a dream and work hard to make our dream come true. In this way, we can turn stress into challenges which can get us closer to our dreams. Second, I feel it helpful to keep a good mood when we are stressed out.
We can even communicate with our parents or friends and share our problems with them. Then we will feel less stressed out. Last but not least, we can relax ourselves in different ways. For example, reading a good book or listening to some music can make us feel relaxed. Playing sports is also a good way to relieve stress.
All in all, having stress isn’t a terrible thing as long as we know how to deal with it properly. I hope the ways mentioned above can help you deal with stress and live a better life.
