    1.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I was in my room, unwilling to head to the community theatre with “my brother” Henry. He was just adopted by my parents recently. I was not in the mood for being onstage with him.
“Kristie, come here,” my mom called. Following her voice, I found her outside the bathroom, holding a wet book. She gave the book a shake. “Henry’s book was in the bathtub. Did you put it there?” She glared at me—something she never did before Henry came to our home. I didn’t wet his book on purpose. Tears of hurt clouded my eyes. Worse still, she promised to buy him a new copy. My heart ached. Henry was stealing my mother’s love. He was ruining my life.
Meanwhile, Henry was just nearby, absorbed in working on a complicated rope knot (绳结) as usual. Why did a boy like him do the girly work? Far from manly!
Soon, it was time to have to set off for the community theatre. As Henry walked ahead of us to the car, my mom took me aside and said in a low voice, “It’s the first time for Henry to be onstage. Be kind to him, Honey.” I nodded but sighed. Being kind didn’t use to be hard. But after Henry moved in, everything felt different. The theatre used to be a special place for my parents and me. With Henry involved, it didn’t seem so special any more.
Finally, it was our stage time. My heart beat wildly. I forgot my annoyance at Henry for a while. As we kids lined up, ready to act out our short play, I realized how loosely I had tied the drawstring (束带) on my skirt. Sure enough, my skirt began to drop. Laughter from the audience could be heard, and even though I was wearing shorts under my skirt, I could feel my face burst into flames. However, my hands were full. If only someone could help me out!

    2.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Kevin was a homeless man. Since the day he was born, he had never been shown the affection and love every child needs. He had spent his entire life fighting for his survival in a world that treated him like he never existed. Even after all the hardships he had confronted (面对), Kevin still had hope for a better life. One organization proved to him that there was light at the end of the tunnel. The Sumner Community Food Bank was known for being charitable and being so generous that they donated food without any cost to the homeless. And Anita is the head of this organization.
On a cold morning, Kevin was extremely hungry. He looked around for the bread that the volunteers usually left the night before for people to take. As he spotted a loaf of bread, something else caught his eye. Kevin found a strange brown paper bag next to the building. He wondered if it had any more food inside, unaware of the surprise that would change his life forever.
As he approached the bag, he couldn’t smell anything that he thought was food. He wondered what was inside of the bag, and why it was left next to the food bank. After making his final guesses at what could be inside, Kevin slowly opened the bag. It was completely stuffed with cash. Kevin was overwhelmed by the multitude of $20 and $100 bills. He add-ed all of them up to see how much money there was in that bag, and it amounted to $17,000.
Kevin couldn’t believe his eyes and thought that he must have miscounted. Therefore, he counted again. The second time, it amounted to $17,000, too. However, Kevin decided not to get excited yet. After all, someone could have deliberately tried to fool him by filling the bag with fake money. He checked carefully to see if the money was real. After making sure all of the money was real, he wasn’t sure of what he should do with the load of money.
    注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
    2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
After waiting at the food bank for 20 minutes, Kevin found Anita unlocking the door.

    3.阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
I was excited to participated in my first summer camp and curious to know who I would meet and make friends with. I knew deep down in my heart it would be a wonderful experience.
The first day were tests to see what level swimmers were in the pool and a treasure hunt to help us learn our way around the campground. Our second day was extremely hot, so one of the camp counselors took us to the best place for cooling down.“Woo-hoo!“ the counselor shouted as he led the way into the shallow part of the lake. We all ran after him like a bunch of ducklings and happily splashed around. Well, all of us except for one kid named Max, who sat on the dock looking the opposite of us.
That was a surprising thing to me. The day before, when we took tests to see what level swimmers we were in the pool, Max turned out to be the most advanced level possible. Not just in one thing, but in everything: sidestroke, backstroke, the crawl, breaststroke, holding breath underwater. Max was, no question, the very best swimmer at camp.“So why was he sitting miserably?”
I swam over and said,“I’m sorry to bother you, but I’m wondering why you’ re not in the water. After all, we found out yesterday that you’re kind of a half fish.“ “OK, I’ll tell you, but it’s a little embarrassing.” he said,“Even though I’m kind of a half fish, I’ m afraid of real fish and of anything else that might be swimming in the murky water. I swim only in clear swimming pools. I’ve never actually gone in a lake.“

    4.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I first became conscious of my body image last year in fifth grade. One day I was walking by my mirror getting ready for bed and I noticed that my stomach looked big. I started to really hate that and think I was fat even though my family always told me how skinny I was. It wasn’t only my stomach—I started to think my nose was ugly and that my laugh was disgusting. I was even afraid to laugh or smile in public.
Then, in the sixth grade, a popular guy in my class named Luke made it worse. He told his table group that my body looked swollen in skinny jeans. I heard about it from someone else, but then Luke even told me to my face! I couldn’t stop thinking about what Luke had said. Even worse, I started to believe it was true, and I hid my skinny jeans all the way at the bottom of my drawer.
I know I cared too much about what other people said and thought about me. I guess I just wanted to be liked. In fact, I really wish I could have just brushed off comments like that, but I couldn’t change my personality and what I care about that easily.
Luke’s mean comment affected me in a big way. I lost confidence in more than just my body—I started to think that I didn’t matter and that I didn’t have a place in the world. To make it worse, some people also started telling me that I was not meant to be an author, which is what I really want to be. That especially hurt and I started to feel really sad all the time.
I hadn’t really told anyone how I’d been feeling until a couple of months ago when I got a call from my cousin. I’m really close to her, and hearing her voice and laugh made me feel so good inside. I thought about how I used to be that way too, and how I was so sick of feeling sad.

My three children played peacefully in the back yard. This alone should have put me on alert , but the setting was so pleasant that I hung our clothes to dry in the soft breeze and enjoyed the unseasonably warm September afternoon. Our home was nestled in a forest of the Northern California foothills, facing a shining lake, with just a few neighbors
It was a good place to raise our children: four-year-old Andre, two-and-a-half-year-old Yvonne, and fourteen-month-old Philippe. From the clothesline I had a clear view of the kids Philippe was so cute, wearing only a diaper as he was glued to a flower looking at a butterfly. He was always the curious one
Our dog Jessie was always present, a constant participant in all the family activities. She lay fast asleep, warming herself in the sun. She was really gentle and kind, and her only annoying trait  was her tendency to leave the house when I wasn’t looking. But this day, she was to prove her worth
Having hung a whole basket of clothes, I ventured a into the house to grab a pile of wet sheets from the washing machine. As I wasn’t in the habit of leaving my children unattended, I returned quickly to my clothesline duty. Just then, I noticed that Jessie had moved away from where she was lying. I exclaimed angrily, That dog! She’s off again, and we don’t need any more puppies! Looking around for her but failing to find her, I continued my laundry responsibilities, took a quick survey of the kids and saw, to my horror, that Philippe was missing. To my knowledge, no car and no passers-by had passed the usual paths close to our home. I began to yell his name, trying to stay calm.

On Father’s Day, many of us try to find the perfect gift for our fathers or father figures. Our fathers take up so much space in our hearts that they will remain in our memory forever.
My father, Joseph Kane, is truly the leader of the band. He has a gift for music and sings like Eddie Arnold. Dad can pick up any instrument and play it and he has perfect pitch. He can’t read a note of music, but he can understand music by ear.
When we were children, he could sing a list of cowboy songs to put my brother, sister and me to sleep most nights. As we grew older, my father would organize a jam session on Sunday nights. My sister played the flute, I played the violin, and my brother banged on something that could play like drums. It was one of my most precious childhood memories.
Dad worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard until its closing. Then, he got a job with Grumman and worked on the first lunar module that landed on the moon. In his spare time, he would do income taxes for all my aunts and uncles. Although he had no formal training, he was talented in math so he helped us through tough homework assignments, and I could guarantee he never cheated on his taxes or anyone else’s.
On Sundays in the early 1960s, we would take a ride out to the countryside to see horse farms. That was the days when we got to eat out. Whenever I smelled delicious food, it brought me back to those Sundays.
My dad loved Halloween. I thought it was because he loved candies. As the years went by, I got married and had children. When I saw him hand out candies at my front door, I suddenly realized that he did not love candies but he did love all children, especially his grandchildren. He spent time coloring with them, singing to them and just enjoying their innocence. He had few friends. His family was his world.

A cold winter, four years ago, my mother’s birthday was approaching. She was turning fifty years old. My mom did not ask for much but she wanted to spend quality time with the family on her birthday. My dad on the other hand had another idea in mind. He decided to throw her a surprise birthday party, but my mother hated surprises. No one knew how this would turn out. The outcome could be great or a great fail.
My parents have six children, including me. Five of us were in America and one of my brothers was in Ghana. My dad thought that if all the children spoke at her party in our language which is called Ashanti (阿散蒂语) then that would make the party extraordinary. When my father first explained his idea, I realized that I would have to speak as well. At that time I was an extremely shy person, especially in front of crowds. My dad gave us the option to go up to the stage and speak. He mostly wanted me to speak, because I was the youngest and he thought it would be great.
The next day when my mother went to work, I pulled my dad aside to talk to him and tell him that I would love to speak at my mother’s party. I could tell that he was crazy about the decision I made. My father and I agreed that he would help me write my speech in Ashanti. I was excited and anxious at the same time, but I knew too much worry was not going to help. I knew I had no choice if I wanted to impress my mother. All I could think about was the smile my mom would have on her face when I spoke. We practiced hard daily to memorize the speech better. My dad and my brothers were out for a whole day, preparing for the recreational center, where the party would be held. We were a little tired but we thought it was worth doing so.

The Wiggles, my girl Nayvah’s favorite show, played on the TV, she screamed out in excitement and started dancing along to the songs. Little Nayvah, nearly two, has a big personality and sense of curiosity!
A week later, me, Nayvah and my son, Leo, four, headed over to my friend Kacie’s place —— a ten-minute drive from our house.
My babies were excited to play with Kacie’s children Tyler, ten, and Nevaeh, eight. While the kids played, Kacie and I chatted in the backyard. As we talked, Kacie took the grate (炉排) off the drain (排水沟) that was next to the back door and poured some drain cleaner down it. “We’ve had blocked drains,” she said.
Hours later, as the sun began to set, I sat with the kids in the backyard while Kacie cooked carbonara for dinner. “Sammy! Can you come here and taste the sauce?” Kacie called out. The kids were happily playing, so I ducked inside. Less than a minute later, after trying the sauce, I went back out.
That’s when I saw Nayvah with her left leg stuck in the drain. My girl didn’t seem upset and, at first, I thought it was quite cute. “Kacie! Kids! Look at this!” I shouted out. “Oh no! I forgot to put the grate back on,” said Kacie. We all let out a little laugh, and Kacie and I tried to gently pull Nayvah out.
But her ankle was completely stuck. My heart sank. “Kacie, call Triple-0!” I said. I lay down next to Nayvah — who was still calm — and told her everything was going to be okay. “I’m here, Nay Nay Nay,” I comforted her.
When two fire trucks and an ambulance soon arrived, I burst into tears. It felt so serious. The firemen tried a few techniques to pull her out. Nothing worked. One fireman, named Shamus, decided to entertain my little girl to keep her calm.

    10.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I was turning ten in the summer of 1995. On a warm evening while at dinner table, my mom announced we were taking a trip to Niagara Falls when summer vacation started so that we could celebrate my birthday there.
It all sounded incredibly good until mom said we would be driving to Canada. As was often the case, my dad would do all the driving when my mom managed the directions. But dad often took wrong turns along the way and mom would not stop complaining.
It wasn’t all that I didn’t like the car rides. I looked over at my 6-year-old sister, Marlene. She giggled at me and rolled her eyes. Driving in the car meant I’d share the back seat with my sister, who would never stop making noise unless she was asleep.
“Hey, can we take a plane there instead?” I asked between mouthfuls of hamburger and French fries. Sometimes, when dad had a day off from work, we would drive out to Idlewild Airport to watch the planes take off and land. I always hoped that one day I could get to sit in my own seat on one of those planes. It would be so cool to get high up the beautiful sky.
“Sorry honey, maybe next time.” my mother replied as she and my father exchanged glances. I turned to my sister, hoping she would say she wanted to get on a plane too, but she simply stuck her tongue out at me and giggled again.
Don’t they get it? I was in desperate need of a plane ride, and I needed something cool to talk about with my friends when we got home. “Sitting in the back seat of the car sucks.” I blurted (脱口而出) out.
“Jay!” My mom shouted. “Watch your mouth!”
“OK, sorry, but I really want to go by plane.”
“This conversation is over.” My dad growled. “Finish your eating and go to your room.”

    1.One possible version:
Right then, Henry sensed my embarrassment. He immediately came to my aid. He pulled up my skirt and skillfully tied the drawstring with a beautiful knot. Seeing what Henry did for me, something deep in my mind began to change. It seemed as if my cold heart began to melt slowly and my annoyance at him gradually gave way to guilt. I regretted having treated him as a stranger. While my mind was wandering, our performance time came. It turned out a great success, thunderous applause filling the whole theatre.
After the performance, I found Henry and tapped him on the arm gratefully. “Thanks,” I said with a grateful smile on my face. I had to admit that but for his timely help, I would have been extremely embarrassed. Without his knotting skill, the performance would have been quite different. “KNOT a problem. You are my sister,” he grinned innocently, saying humorously. Surrounded by the cheerful atmosphere, I felt a flood of warmth of a big family. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to have a new person in my corner of the world after all.

I reported. Max hesitated, and then took a deep breath, and went under the water for about three seconds. ”Any lake monsters?” I asked when he emerged. He laughed and pointed at some harmless little fish. “Only these tiny kind things.” Sometimes laughing fearful things off was a good method to overcome fear.

    4. Then I started telling her and it all came out. She seemed so surprised and said how special I was. She started listing all my good qualities, saying I shouldn’t listen to people who say mean things because they were probably just feeling bad about themselves or trying to look cool. Definitely, she added, I shouldn’t let them tell me how to feel about myself or my body. It was like a sudden wake-up call: focusing on what other people thought of me only made things even worse, and I must learn to love and accept myself for who I am.
When I went back to my bedroom, I looked at myself in the mirror for a long time. I saw what I had never seen in myself before, like my nice grey eyes, my cute smile, and the fact that I am beautiful in my own way. I know some people might still make hurtful comments again, and sometimes I may feel like I am fat again, but next time I will be prepared. I will only think well of myself even when I am feeling sad, and stand up for myself when someone puts me down. In my eyes, I am perfect myself—no one can change that.

I raced up and down the street, but no Philippe! Having searched the whole street, I went back home to check on the other two kids and call the police. As I lifted the receiver to my ear, I glanced out the window overlooking the lake. There, my little boy was staggering to catch the butterfly, so close to the lake that it seemed as if he would fall into it the next second. Mercifully, Jessie sprang up at his side, pushing him away from danger with her nose, gently and carefully.
Tears streaming down my face, I ran toward Philippe and Jessie. Hands trembling, I picked up Philippe and inspected his little body for any wounds and injuries, while Jessie jumped happily around us, head up and tail wagging. Overflowing with gratitude, I hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead repeatedly. The whole suffering spanned maybe fifteen minutes, but it felt like an eternity for me. Thanks to our dear Jessie, I had Philippe back safely. Jessie was a valued family member, and we really needed her.

Father’s Day was coming up, and I wanted to give him a surprise. I contacted my sister and brother as well as my uncle and aunt and told them my idea—to organize a perfect family concert. So that day, we rented space at a horse farm we used to go to, set up a venue and arranged delicious food. The surprise came when Dad was taken to sit there. Just like in childhood, my sister played the flute, I played the violin, my brother played the drums, and our children sang the songs that our father would always sing to us when we were kids. Dad was so surprised and moved that he finally couldn’t help but come on stage and perform with us.
Back home, everyone was in a state of joy. Dad said it was the best Father’s Day present he had ever received. We decided that every month, we would organize a family concert to keep this “best Father’s Day gift” going.

Finally the day of the party came. When we came home, my dad said we were going out to eat, so we should get dressed. When we finally arrived at the recreational center, my mom went inside and everyone screamed “surprise”! My mother was in total shock and she ran out with tears of joy. We danced, laughed, ate, and enjoyed the party. My dad came up and said that the children all have speeches for their wonderful mother. My mother looked shocked, but in a positive way.
My dad handed me the microphone first. When I saw many eyes staring at me, my hands were shaking. I went up there and made my speech and I did wonderfully! The crowd cheered because I did such a great job, speaking Ashanti so well. I felt as if a heavy burden was lifted off of my shoulder. When we came home, my mom told me I did the best out of my sisters and brothers, and she was so proud to see me up there although I was shy.

“What’s her favorite TV show?” he asked me. “The Wiggles!” I replied quickly. Shamus played “Rock-A-Bye Your Bear” from his phone as the firemen set up shields around my girl to protect her. They then broke the pavement and the concrete pipe so they could ease her out. She had fun watching as the firemen sang along. In less than an hour, my brave girl was free! I thanked the amazing firemen from the bottom of my heart.
A few days later, I shared the story on TV and Nayvah received a special recorded message from the Wiggles star, Simon! He said Nayvah was a very brave little girl and he was happy The Wiggles helped her to keep calm when her leg was stuck. Simon also invited us and the firemen backstage for a private show at a concert that was coming up. Two weeks later, Nayvah watched them perform live. After she was seated, a pregnant waitress brought a towel to wipe her wet hair. The lady noticed that the waitress was in the later stage of her pregnancy but still smiling and working hard in the evening. The elderly lady wondered how someone with so little could be so kind and generous to a stranger until she remembered how Bryan, a stranger, had just helped her. After finishing her meal, the lady paid a hundred dollar bill much higher than her bill amount. The waitress went inside to get change, but when she returned, the old lady had left.
While the waitress was wondering where the lady was, she found a note. She read the note that was written by the old lady: “Thank you for your amazing services. You don’t owe me anything. Someone once helped me without expecting anything in return. If you truly want to repay me, pass on your kindness, and do not let this chain of love end with you.” There were four hundred dollar bills left under the napkin for the waitress. Her eyes were filled with tears. She was in desperate need of financial help with the baby coming soon. With the kindness from a stranger, she knew everything would be fine.

10.We left two days later on Saturday morning in our car. Reluctant as I was, I helped stuff the car truck full of suitcases. There I was stuck in the back seat with no hope of having great tales of adventure for my friends and little expectation of celebrating my birthday with style. After what seemed like a lifetime, I felt extremely bored as Marlene fell asleep beside me. Rolling down the window, I caught a glimpse of a large plane flying overhead. How I wished I were on that plane! At that moment, I noticed my father made a turn off the highway and drove past a sign that read “Airport Parking”. I couldn’t believe my eyes. We were heading right into the airport.
I was told to wait until we checked in our bags at the airport. “We were planning this as a birthday present for you all along,” Mom explained, “despite your impolite language the other night, Happy birthday, sweetheart !” My Dad also wished me a happy birthday as he bent down to kiss my head while Marlene threw her arms around me, winking and giggling heartily. Overwhelmed with emotions, I looked at the boarding pass in my hands, finally waking up to the fact that my dream of taking a flight indeed came true.
