Robert and Henry were going home from school, when, on turning a corner, Robert cried out, “A fight! Let us go and see!” “No,” said Henry, “let us go quietly home. In the 21st century, genetics (遗传学) has become one of the most important of all science. Scientists are finding the genes (基因) that lead to disease, making new medicines and redesigning living things.
According to the knowledge we have learned in biology, we can know that genes are made up of DNA, which is stored inside each cell (细胞). It’s now possible to read the models in a person’s DNA.This makes scientists do more things, such as seeing whether two people belong to the same family.
Genetic engineering means making changes to DNA in order to change the way living things work. It is used to make new types of crops and farm animals.
