While people are traveling more than ever, there are still unimagined adventures. Tom Hall, editorial director of Lonely Planet, shares some.
    Sleep in a suspended pod
    Calea, Peru
Hanging out in Peru takes on a whole new meaning when you book a room hanging from the side of a mountain. “I’ve never seen anything quite like this before,” says Hall. “You’re overlooking the Sacred Valley, one of the most popular places to stay in the country.”
    Trampoline(蹦床) underground
    Gwynedd, Wales
Northern Wales has found a clever use for one of its old mines, turning a former industrial site into an underground trampoline park. Visitors find rope ladders and slides, and a line of trampolines spreading nearly a mile. “When my kids saw them, they went crazy absolutely,” Hall says.
Surf down the side of a volcano
    Cerro Negro, Nicaragua
Thrill-seekers don’t need surf or snow on this active volcano. Tour companies bring visitors to the peak, which is covered with fine black ash. “You climb up it, jump on a board, and you go very fast for a long way. It’s an exciting ride,” Hall says.
    See art inside a bunker
    Berlin
Take in art and history at the Boros Collection--a private art gallery housed inside a World War II bunker. The building, which once protected Nazi leaders, served as a nightclub after the fall of the Berlin Wall. “It was pretty hard to get rid of because it’s so well-constructed,” Hall says. “Now it has some very interesting and unusual art.”

    A. Its size. B. Its shape.
    C. Its location. D. Its color.

I’m interested in the Renaissance (文艺复兴), so I like visiting ancient Italian cities. Ferrara is called City of the Renaissance. When I learned about this city on the Internet, I decided to pay a visit to it.
The city has a certain charm, but I find it isn’t as great as other Italian cities like Verona, let alone Venice or Rome. The Michelin Green Guide gives it two stars, which is right.
I first visited the city centre. The Cathedral and Castello Estense are at the heart of the city. Both have striking appearances. I visited the Cathedral first. Castello Estense is also worth visiting, which owes its name to the powerful Este family. It was built with bricks and surrounded by a moat (护城河). At the lower levels, the history of the city and the Este family are told through displays, and in another part the ceilings are shown through mirrors on the ground.
In the north, we can appreciate the Renaissance extension of the town, with straight streets and monumental houses. The famous Palazzo dei Diamanti lies here.
When I was visiting it, it started to rain, so after taking a few photos quickly, I cut my visit there short. It had been raining for a few days. When the rain stopped, I went to visit the historical centre and the Renaissance buildings.
After leaving there, I visited several other interesting places such as palaces and the narrow streets of the downtown. After four hours in Ferrara I left by train to Mantua. There I had a much better time.
    4. Why did the author pay a visit to Ferrara?
    A. Because it is related to the Renaissance.
    B. Because it is full of charm.
    C. Because it is a very famous city in Europe.
    D. Because it is strongly recommended by a website.
    5. What did the author think of The Michelin Green Guide’s comment on Ferrara?
    A. Ridiculous. B. Reasonable.
    C. Unacceptable. D. Unbelievable.
    6. How could Castello Estense probably get its name according to the text?
    A. It came from the historical buildings.
    B. It originated from the straight streets.
    C. It was named after the powerful Este family.
    D. It was connected to the surrounding moat.
    7. What can we infer from the text?
    A. The writer thought Ferrara was as great as Venice.
    B. The writer visited Palazzo dei Diamanti for a long time.
    C. The writer was much more satisfied with the tour in Mantua than in Ferrara.
    D. The writer was disappointed with the visit to the Cathedral and Castello Estense.
A 5. B 6. C 7. C

根据第三段的“Castello Estense is also worth visiting, which owes its name to the powerful Este family.”(Castello Estense也值得一看,它的名字源于强大的埃斯特家族。)
根据最后一段中“After four hours in Ferrara I left by train to Mantua. There I had much better time.

When you’re walking your dog in the park, he comes across another dog. The dogs look at each other, sniff each other, and walk circles around each other. And then the fight begins. But is it really a fight, or is it just play-fighting? It’s very important for you to know whether he’s in any true danger.
Dog owners everywhere like to take their dogs to the park to play. But is their behaviour best described as “play”? Scientists have used the word “play” to describe any behaviour that does not have any obvious purpose.
The natural world is filled with examples of such “purposeless activities”. Bernd Heinrich and Rachel Smolker describe a common activity among ravens(乌鸦): snowboarding. Ravens in Alaska and Northern Canada are known to slide down steep, snow-covered roofs. When they reach the bottom, they walk or fly back to the top, and repeat the process over and over again. In Maine, ravens were observed sliding down small hills of snow. “We see no obvious practical function for sliding behaviour,” they write. Anyone who has spent time in a school playground will recognize that ravens and children both like this type of sliding activity.
It is easy to see that play may sometimes have a purpose. Given that young animals borrow actions from fighting, hunting, or other behaviors, play may serve as a form of practice. Play might help animals become more flexible and prepare better for their future life.
So next time you walk by a playground or a schoolyard, take a look around. The kinds of games that young children play may look like simpler forms of play seen in animals. Some children may remind you of the snowboarding raven, just trying to have a good time. Other games, though, might have a deeper purpose, helping children learn their place in the social world within which they live.
    8. Scientists think that “play” refers to .
    A. the fighting between animals
    B. walking dogs in the park
    C. activities without obvious purpose
    D. children’s activities
    9. The writer develops Paragraph 3 by .
    A. offering a reason
    B. providing a way
    C. giving an example
    D. asking for advice
    10. What does “snowboarding” mean in the third paragraph?
    A. Sliding down a bank of deep snow.
    B. Hiding in the snow hole.
    C. Flying to the top of snow-covered roofs.
D Walking on the snow-covered ground.
    11. Sometimes young animals play in order to .
    A. get along well with others
    B. learn some living skills
    C. be the ruler of the animal world
    D. practice sliding and running
C 9. C 10. A 11. B

故选A。
根据倒数第二段“Given that young animals borrow actions from fighting, hunting, or other behaviors, play may serve as a form of practice.(玩耍可以帮助动物变得更灵活,为它们未来的生活做更好的准备)”可知,有时小动物玩耍是为了学习一些生活技能。故选B。

Searchers announced the recovery of one of the two black boxes, and human tissue (组织) debris from the crash site of China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 on Wednesday night, three days after the Boeing 737-800 nosedived from cruising altitude and crashed into a forested hillside.
One of the black boxes found on Wednesday has been identified as the cockpit voice recorder The black box’s recorder looks badly damaged from the outside, but its storage unit looks relatively intact. It has been sent to a professional civil aviation agency in Beijing for decoding, and hopefully the data stored inside will provide evidence for the accident investigation and help produce a credible accident analysis report. The search teams are going all out to find the other black box with professional tools.
Officials also released more information concerning the crash. The weather on the route of MU5735 was suitable for flying and there was no hazardous weather when the plane crashed. The communication connection between the plane and the ground was normal from the plane’s departure until its sudden fall in altitude. The plane started service in June 2015 and it had been maintained under strict standards of technical plans and in normal conditions. Before departure, the aircraft met the requirements for flying. Pilots on board were all in good health and their flying certificates were within the validity period.
Beijing EAPs Consulting, a firm which provided a free psychological services hotline immediately after the crash, told Global Times that it has answered many phone calls asking for assistance. The phone calls are from families, friends and colleagues of people on board, who are in a difficult time. Some pilots and flight attendants called in because they feel unsafe and uncertain about their careers. There are also people who want to know how to comfort their acquaintances that had loved ones on the plane. Mental support and psychological services in the first 24 to 72 hours after a tragedy is crucial for people involved to recover from the tragedy and minimize the trauma. For more information related to the plane crash, please click here to follow the latest news.

Though the visiting time was slight short, we gained a lot. It is so an instructive activity that we hope more will be organized in the future.
故which改为whose。
短语:cover an area of…“覆盖……
连词the moment“一…… 故去掉when。
故their改为our。
短语appear to“吸引”;故for改为to。
such/so…that…,so的后面要接形容词或副词,而such后面要接名词,本句中an instructive activity是名词短语,所以应该使用such引导。故so改为such。
