Once a man named Grant found a box of old papers in a room at the top of his house. He burnt most of them, for he didn’t like old things very much. But one of these papers was an old letter. At the bottom of the letter was the name of a famous writer.

“When this letter was written,” said Grant, “no one knew about the writer. But now everyone knows him. Some people like to buy letters like this. I may be able to get a lot of money for this letter if I sell it to the right man.”

But there were a lot of dirty marks all over the letter.

“It doesn’t look nice.” he thought, “No one wants to buy a letter if it’s dirty. I’ll have to clean it first.” So he took a piece of cloth and some water and cleaned the letter. He worked hard and took a lot of care. At last, the letter looked new and he was very pleased with his work.

“Now it looks very nice,” he said to himself. “I’ll be able to sell it for a lot of money.”

He took the letter to a shop in London where old papers of this kind were bought and sold.

Curling is a popular winter sport. Lots of people are interested in curling. They think curling is an interesting sport to watch. Some people don’t have a chance to go to stadiums to watch it, so they choose to watch it on TV.

Curling players use a curling stone for their sport. The stone looks like a flattened ball with a handle on top. It weighs 42 pounds. The players use the handle to push the stone over the ice and then release it. The stone then slides into the scoring area. Official curling stones are made from a type of Scottish granite（花岗岩）. How do you feel about nature? After spending hours indoors, do you feel better when you visit your local park? I believe the answer must be “YES”.

Most people think that nature is good for our bodies and brains. However, humans are spending more time inside and less time outside. For example, the number of visitors to Canada’s national parks is getting smaller every year. And in countries such as the USA, only 10% of teenagers spend time outside every day. Since September, many schools have increased the number of PE classes from three a week to five or even more according to China’s new standard on physical education. The standard asks schools to make sure that PE classes take up 10 to 11 percent of all class time.
