66.Dear John,
As the Dragon Boat Festival is coming, I would like to invite you to experience this traditional festival.
The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated every year on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month and it has about two thousand years of history. The festival is celebrated to honor the great poet Qu Yuan. On that day, people often get together with their family to eat Zongzi and other delicious food. In southern parts of China, people often have the Dragon Boat races.
If you love the Chinese dragon boat or Zongzi, you should consider coming to school. Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
67.One possible version:
Donald had noticed earlier that Jim’s stutter disappeared whenever he quoted his favorite poets out loud. Now the teacher tried to do something most teachers would never consider doing today: he put Jim on the spot. So he said, “Jim, would you kindly come to the front of the class and read us what you’ve written? If the words really are yours, Jim, then prove it. Stand and recite them. Right now. Or admit that you stole them.”
The whole class turned their attention to Jim. Jim sprang to his feet and recited Ode to a grapefruit just as he had written it. There was anger in his voice, but what a voice it turned out to be: big and booming and clear as a bell. That was the day Donald Crouch unlocked one of the most powerful and familiar voices in the world. From then on, the world it seemed, was too small to contain a voice as big as Jim’s.

W: Thank you for encouraging me. I’m still worried, though.

M: Hello, everyone. I have an announcement to make. As you know, we have more than thirty students from America, England, Canada and France visiting our school. In order to help them enjoy their time here, the Students’ Union has decided to organize a European music week. It will be held the last week of September. You can sing pop songs and play musical instruments, so don’t forget to bring along your musical instrument if you have any. There will also be an interesting music contest. During the competition, the visiting students will sing the first sentence of a song and you will be required to guess where the song comes from and what’s the name of the song. Please come to the Students’ Union office to sign up before September 15th if you want to take part in any of the activities. The music week will be held in the garden to the left of the library. I hope all of you will have a great time. That’s all!
