"Screen time" refers to time spent in front of a screen, such as watching TV, working on a computer, or playing on mobile phones.

Most American children spend about 3 hours a day watching TV.

Added together, all types of total screen time can be 5 to 7 hour a day.

Computer, TV or mobile phones can help children with their education. But spending too much time on them is not good. For example, too much screen time can increase children's rick of putting on too much weight.

Dr. Holland from America says screen time takes something important away from a child, including exercise, sleep and developmental activities. "Screen time is time that is not spent being physically active, and that children are missing out on learning valuable skills and developing their brains, " explains Dr. Holland.

So the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)suggests the following screen time guidelines to children:

Children under 2:Avoid all screen time.

Children aged 2-5: Have no more than one hour of screen time each day.

Children aged 6and older: Set personal screen time limits( 限 制 )to make sure their study, sleep and exercise won't be influenced.

In 2019, the World Health Organization(WHO) set its own guidelines that are similar to AAP's.

Cutting screen time down to 2 hours a day can be hard for children. But parents can set good examples first. They should spend less than 2 hours a day on screens. And parents should not watch TV during meals. Parents can play board games with their children or try other activities. In this way, they will live a more colorful and healthier life.

Dr paul McKay is a scientist at Imperial College and he focused on HIV vaccine(疫苗) development over the past 30 years, but when the COVID-19 epidemic started, he changed the target of his vaccine to the coronavirus (冠状病毒).

The percentage of people who get very sick with COVID-19 and go to hospital is very high. In the over 70s, it’s about one in five. The Vaccine will protect you from getting ill and reduces the effects if you do. Even if you don’t get very ill, COVID-19 can have serious long-term side effects, causing problems in your lungs, kidneys, Liver, brain or heart.

Vaccines can give you a sore arm, headache, or slight fever. Vaccines are one of the safest way to prevent diseases and long-term harmful effects are extremely rare (罕见). In comparison (相比之下), long-term harmful effects of the diseases we vaccinate against are not rare.

The scientists behind the Oxford vaccine had been working on respiratory(呼吸的) virus, MERS for 15 years. It has been proved to be very safe, for example, an mRNA vaccine for rabies(狂犬病) was first put into people in 2013 and there have been no safety problems since then. In view of this, even if the COVID-19 vaccine is developed in a short time, its safety is beyond doubt.

“The delivery driver (送餐员) gets your food and is on his way.” This is a message you might receive after placing a takeout order. But in the near future, a self-driving car may bring food to your door instead of a human driver.

Baidu and Meituan are now working together to use self-driving technology to deliver food. They will be experimenting with this in the Xiong’an New Area, Beijing Evening News reported.

The self-driving cars will mainly be used to send group orders, and the single orders are usually handled by delivery drivers. For example, if a company orders food for its workers, a self-driving car will bring all the food to the company.

Sina Tech said that using self-driving cars will be a revolution (革命) in the food delivery industry, as it will cut down the cost of labor (劳动力).

Online food delivery services have developed rapidly in China. Almost 300 million users have used online services to order food. In 2016, Meituan Waimai was the No.1 among all food delivery companies.

Self-driving delivery services will help the development of the industry. But that doesn’t mean that delivery drivers will lose their jobs. There are still some problems to work out. For example, self-driving cars can drive smoothly on cement (水泥) roads, but have problems driving on dirt roads. There are other safety-related problems that must also be solved before self-driving cars can be used.
