Salvador Dalí was one of the most important surrealist(超现实主义的)artists in the world. He produced over 1,500 paintings in his career. His talent in painting and famous moustache has made him a cultural icon.
Salvador Dalí was born on May 11,1904 in Figueres,Spain. At an early age,Dalí was producing fine drawings.Upon recognizing his talent, his parents sent him to a drawing school in 1916.After the first year at art school,he became interested in modern painting.By 1919, the young artist had his first public exhibition at the Municipal Theatre of Figueres. In 1922,Dalí went to the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. He stayed at the school’s student residence and soon showed his eccentricity(古怪),growing long hair and dressing himself in an English style of the late 19th century. While in school,Dalí began exploring many forms of art including works of classical painters like Raphael.Between 1926 and 1929,Dalí made several trips to Paris, where he met Joan Mirò,the Spanish painter and sculptor who introduced him to Surrealism.
Dalí’s surrealistic period started in 1929.These oil paintings reflected his dream images.Dalí created a reality from his dreams and thus mentally changed the reality to what he wanted it to be.For Dalí,it became a way of life.During World War Ⅱ,Dalí and his wife moved to the United States. They remained there until 1948.These were important years for Dalí.The Museum of Modern Art in New York gave him his own exhibit in 1941.This was followed by the publication of his autobiography(自传).
In 1980,Dalí was forced to retire from painting due to disease. No longer able to hold a paint brush,he’d lost the ability to express himself the way he knew best.More tragedy struck in 1982, when Dalí’s beloved wife and friend,Gala, died. The two events sent him into a deep depression. On January 23,1989,in the city of his birth,Dalí died of heart failure at the age of 84.

Production of electricity is responsible for about a quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions(排放物) so stopping global warming will require a transformation of electricity production. There are a number of available low-carbon technologies to generate electricity. But are they really better than fossil fuels and nuclear power? To answer that question, one needs to compare not just the emissions of different power sources but also the benefits and threats to ecosystems of green energy.
In a research paper,Carbon Print Foundation confirms that fossil fuels, mainly coal, place a heavy burden on the environment while no energy source is without bad environmental side effects.Replacing fossil fuel power plants with renewable energy sources, including solar energy, wind energy, hydropower, and bioenergy would reduce diverse types of pollution.Photovoltaics (PV) (太阳能) comes out as the best choice in most cases. The carbon emissions per unit of PV electricity are one-tenth or less of even the most efficient natural gas power plants. But solar panels(板) require much more space to produce the same amount of power as fossil fuels or nuclear power produces. Also, producing PV panels does require various poisonous metals.
Environmental effects from hydropower vary widely. Some dams cause significant climate effects while other dams cause equally serious ecological problems through habitat destruction. They can also block the migration of animals.Similar lessons hold for wind power.Wind power resources vary widely across locations and may also lead to habitat destruction during construction.
While most people recognize sunshine and wind as the low-carbon energy sources, few people know bioenergy also plays a central role in reducing global warming.Yet,it requires a large amount of land use to grow plants. As measured by species loss per kilowatt-hour produced, the ecological damage of bioenergy is comparable to that of coal and gas.
The research results indicate that governments need to search for ways to use these technologies while minimizing the harm to ecosystems. It is not just about whether we employ clean energy, but also about what technologies, where and how.
28.Which does Carbon Print Foundation agree with?
A.There is no absolute green energy.
B.Adopting renewable energy avoids pollution.
C.Bioenergy causes less ecological damage than gas.
D.Coal places the heaviest burden on the environment.
29.What do solar energy and bioenergy have in common?
A.They are known as the low-carbon energy.
B.They all need much room to produce power.
C.They are considered to be the most efficient.
D.They produce the same amount of electricity per hour.
30.What does the author mean by "Similar lessons hold for wind power" in paragraph 3?
A.The use of wind power is a lesson in a way.
B.Wind power has side effects on the environment.
C.Wind power resources vary widely across places.
D.Wind power has different characteristics in different areas.
31.Why does the author write the text?
A.To present a research on energy.
B.To arouse people’s interest in new energy.
C.To inspire people to consume less electricity.
D.To compare ecological effects of green energy.

Kids drag their way to school every day wearing big backpacks.Even high school students have to bend forward to carry their heavy books to and from school. It’s not only annoying and looks a little silly, but also dangerous.
A study from the University of California,San Diego, concludes,"A significant amount of back pain in children is attributable to backpack loads".The same study says a full third of kids aged 11 to 14 report back pain.
"Like the structure of a house, the spine(脊椎) is what keeps bodies strong and upright.Putting too much weight on it while a young body is still developing could change a child’s posture(姿势),hurt the spine, and damage growth," says Rob Danoff,a doctor with Philadelphia’s Aria Health system."It can also contribute to headaches and problems concentrating at school.Besides,it might lead to back problems or injuries when the child is older." And he insists that proper fit and design of backpacks can relieve pressure from the spine and shoulders.
Many of us wonder how heavy is too heavy."As a general rule, research shows the backpack should be no more than 10% to 20% of a child’s body weight to avoid pain or potential injuries," says Dr.Jacobs,a professor at Boston University."We like to recommend ten percent." For many primary schoolchildren,a couple textbooks and lunch could push a backpack beyond the safety limit.
For that reason,Jacobs says it’s important that kids are carrying only what they really need."We’ve noticed that students are taking lots and lots of water to school with them, which is a lot of extra weight," Jacobs says. She recommends packing an empty water bottle and filling it at school.Another tip is to pack the heaviest things in the middle of the backpack, closer to the back.
32.Which of the following best explains "is attributable to" underlined in paragraph 2?
A.falls on B.results from C.goes in with D.gets out of
33.What does the author intend to tell us in paragraph 3?
A.The dangers of heavy backpacks.
B.How to choose fit backpacks for kids.
C.The urgency of lightening kids’ backpacks.
D.Why schoolchildren suffer from backaches.
34.How much should the backpack weigh for a 60-pound student according to Dr.Jacobs?
A.6 pounds at most. B.9 pounds at most.
C.12 pounds at most. D.18 pounds at most.
35.What does Jacobs advise kids to do in the last paragraph?
A.Carry no bottled water to school.
B.Wear backpacks made for their size.
C.Pack the heaviest things on the bottom.
D.Take necessities with them.

There is no need to say again in business psychology that high self-confidence is key to career success.Actually I think low self-confidence is more likely to make you successful.Sure, extremely low confidence is not helpful. It prevents performance by including fear, worry, and stress, which may drive people to give up sooner or later. 36 .If your confidence is low, rather than extremely low,you stand a better chance of succeeding than if you have high self-confidence.
37 . Therefore, you will be self-critical.Most people get trapped in their optimistic prejudice,so they tend to listen to positive feedback and ignore negative(负面) feedback.Although this may help them come across as being confident to others,in any area of competition an achievement is 10% performance and 90% preparation. 38 .
Lower self-confidence can get you to work harder and prepare more.If you are careful about your goals, you will work harder when you lack confidence in your abilities. 39 ,low confidence is negative. If you really want to do what you want, your low confidence will only make you work harder to achieve it because it will make you know the distance to the goals.
Lower self-confidence reduces the possibilities of pride and disappointment. 40 ,they are more likely to admit mistakes instead of blaming others. This is the most important benefit of low self-confidence because it points to the fact that low self-confidence can bring success, not just to individuals but also to organizations and society.
A.Indeed,if people have low self-confidence
B.Then if you care about your inability very much
C.Actually when you are careless about your goals
D.Lower self-confidence makes you focus on negative feedback
E.So low confidence can only prevent you from succeeding
F.Thus, the more you know weaknesses, the better prepared you will be
G.But appropriate low confidence helps you adjust your goals to complete
