Together they moved to New York, but the two soon separated. Benatar won four Grammy Awards for Best Rock Vocal performance, from 1980 to 1983. Benatar was also the winner of three American Music Awards: Favorite Female Pop/Rock Vocalist of 1981 and 1983, and Favorite Female Pop/Rock Video Artist of 1985.

Peru is famously known as the “land of the Incas”. Á trip to Peru has been on my wish list for quite a while. It was finally time for me to visit the country.
My first day started in Lima, the capital of Peru. I met with the G Adventures representative(代表) here about the tour. G Adventures is an organization that helps you to connect with other like-minded people in small group-based travel activities. They played a big part in helping to make Peru an unforgettable experience for me! (2022春·湖北襄阳·高一宜城市第一中学校联考期中)My name is Michelle Rogers. For most of my life I had been fighting with my body weight. I was either gaining weight or trying to lose it. I wasn’t happy with myself, and I certainly wasn’t able to fully enjoy life. Not only did I feel bad physically, but I felt terrible emotionally. I also knew I wasn’t able to be the best I could be, and with failure after failure in losing weight, I just felt so hopeless to make it.
One day in 2008, I was looking through ads online and saw a treadmill (跑步机) for $100. This time I decided to start small and keep it doable. The first week I started walking 15 minutes on the treadmill at a fixed time every day. The next week I did 16 minutes. Each week I added a minute. Gradually, I increased speed as well as time. Once I got to 30 minutes, the weight started dropping off.
I didn’t lose weight at first, but I didn’t give up like I did in the past. I realized I started feeling better. My legs were getting stronger. I didn’t feel painful like I used to when I got up from my desk. All the efforts I’d been putting into fitness made me want to start eating healthier, too. I began with small changes as well. After these years I started listening to my body. It was refusing food and habits that were bad for me.
Today, the extra weight is gone. I still exercise every morning. I look and feel the best I have never done. Every area of my life has improved and benefited from this change in me. Not only do I have my youthful energy, looks and health back, but also I have more confidence than I have ever had.

    B.Interest is the best teacher.
    C.Start with small things.
D.Nothing is more important than confidence.

(2022春·广西钦州·高一浦北中学校考期中)When 45-year-old Randy Pausch was diagnosed with pancreatic(胰腺) cancer, he chose to focus on living rather than dying. As a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Pausch was asked to deliver a “last lecture”. This well-known campus tradition allowed professors to share worldly wisdom with students as if they were dying and had one last lecture to give.
The only difference in Pausch’s case is that Pausch really was dying, but it only motivated him more. He delivered his last lecture, “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams” on Sept. 18, 2007.
Pausch began by sharing several of his boyhood dreams, some of which he had achieved and the others he hadn’t. He described the importance of having dreams and how anyone can still learn a lot by reaching for those dreams, even if they don’t always succeed. He shared the values(价值观) learned through experience, which he hoped to pass on to others hard work, laughter and gratitude, honesty, character.
Pausch’s last lecture received a great deal of praise and attention. It became a crazy YouTube hit, and in October 2007, he presented an abridged (删节的) version on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. He turned the lecture into a book by the same name, which quickly became a best-seller. Readers were deeply moved by the book’s representation of Pausch’s lifelong philosophy and the way it revealed the biggest source of his motivation—his three young children.
Pausch passed away on July 25, 2008, but his voice lives on in the recorded lecture and his book. He continues to motivate us all by encouraging us to never give up our childhood dreams—a source of inspiration that can never run dry.
17.Why was Pausch asked to give his “last lecture”?
A.To teach the students. B.To make him have a better life.
C.To cure his cancer. D.To achieve his dream.
18.What was Pausch’s lecture mainly about?
A.His private life in boyhood. B.Having dreams and good values.
C.The reason for his success. D.The experience learned from others.
19.Which of the following motivated Pausch most?
    A.His dreams. B.His children. C.His work. D.His students.
20.The purpose of the passage is to inspire people to ________.
A.keep on dreaming B.know the meaning of life
C.enjoy life D.give the last lecture

(2022春·湖南长沙·高一雅礼中学校考期中)Twenty years ago, I drove a taxi for a living. One night I took a fare (出租车乘客) at 2:30 AM. When I arrived to collect, standing on the sideway was a small woman in her 80’s with a big suitcase.
After I helped her into the taxi, she gave me an address, and asked, “Could you drive through downtown?” “It’s not the shortest way,” I answered quickly. “I don’t mind,” she said, “I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice (临终安养院).” I looked in-the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were wet. I quietly reached over and shut off the meter (计价表). “What route would you like me to take?” I asked.
For the next two hours, we drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newly married. She had me stop in front of a shabby house where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building and sat staring into the darkness, saying nothing. At last, she said, “I’m tired. Let’s go now.”
We drove in silence to the destination. It was a grey low building.
“How much do I owe you?” she asked, reaching into her purse. “Nothing,” I said. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly, and whispered a “Thank you”. I squeezed her hand and walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.
I didn’t pick up any more passengers but drove aimlessly lost in thought. What if that woman had come across an impatient driver? What if I had refused to drive through downtown? Great moments often catch us unaware, beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

A.To find a place to settle down. B.To reach the destination on time.
C.To kill time before the hospice opened. D.To see the city for the last time.
23.What can we learn from the story?
A.Don’t give up and never lose hope. B.People should respect each other.
C.A small act of kindness brings people great joy. D.Strangers are family you haven’t known yet.
24.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?
A.A taxi ride I’ll never forget B.My strange driving experience
C.The ending of an old woman’s life D.An old woman passenger and her life

(2022春·广西南宁·高一南宁三中校考期中)When I was 17, I read a magazine article about a museum called the McNay, once the home of a watercolorist named Marian McNay. She had requested the community to turn it into a museum upon her death. On a sunny Saturday, Sally and I drove over to the museum. She asked, “Do you have the address?” “No, but I’ll recognize it, there was a picture in the magazine.”
    “Oh, stop. There it is!”
The museum was free. We entered, excited. A group of people sitting in the hall stopped talking and stared at us.
“May I help you?” a man asked. “No,” I said. “We’re fine.” Tour guides got on my nerves. What if they talked a long time about a painting you weren’t that interested in? Sally had gone upstairs. The people in the hall seemed very nosy (爱窥探的), keeping their eyes on me with curiosity. What was their problem? I saw some nice sculptures (雕刻) in one room. Suddenly I sensed a man standing behind me. “Where do you think you are?” he asked. I turned sharply. “The McNay Art Museum!” He smiled, shaking his head. “Sorry, the McNay is on New Braunfels Street.” “What’s this place?” I asked, still confused. “Well, it’s our home.” My heart jolted (震颤). I raced to the staircase and called out, “Sally! Come down immediately!”
“There’s some really good stuff (艺术作品) up there.” She stepped down, looking confused. I pushed her toward the front door, waving at the family, saying, “Sorry, please forgive us, you have a really nice place.” Outside, when I told Sally what happened, she covered her mouth, laughing. She couldn’t believe how long they let us look around without saying anything.
The real McNay was splendid, but we felt nervous the whole time we were there. Van Gogh, Picasso. This time, we stayed together, in case anything else unusual happened.
Thirty years later, a woman approached me in a public place. “Excuse me, did you ever enter a residence (住宅), long ago, thinking it was the McNay Museum?”
“Yes. But how do you know? We never told anyone.”
“That was my home. I was a teenager sitting in the hall. Before you came over, I never realized what a beautiful place I lived in. I never felt lucky before. You thought it was a museum. My feelings about mv home changed after that. I’ve always wanted to thank you.”
25.What do we know about Marian McNay?
    A.She was a journalist. B.She was a painter.
C.She was a museum director. D.She was a community leader.
26.Why did the author refuse the help from the man in the house?
A.She disliked people who were nosy.
B.She felt nervous when talking to strangers.
C.She thought of him as a tour guide
D.She knew more about art than the man.
27.How did the author feel about being stared at by the people in the hall?
    A.Puzzled. B.Concerned. C.Frightened. D.Delighted.
28.What could we learn from the last paragraph?
A.People should have good taste to enjoy life.
B.People should spend more time with their family.
C.People tend to be blind to the beauty around them.
D.People tend to educate teenagers at a museum.

(2022春·重庆·高一重庆市武隆中学校联考期中)Twelve-year-old Leonardo was born in a poor family in Bambamarca in Peru. He knew how to read but he had never seen a book in his life. So he asked the new priest (牧师) in his village to give him one. But there was no electricity. So Leonardo borrowed candles from the church and sat up all night reading it. The next morning, he was at the door of the priest asking for another book to read.
John Medcalf, the priest, was moved. He also realised that people would love to read if given a chance. But he knew how difficult it was for Leonardo and those in his village to get books. And yet, no one can be taught to read and write without books. To make people in a poor, faraway area grow to love books, they have to be with them. So he thought the only way was to bring books to people.
But how could this be done? Mobile libraries or car libraries would be too expensive and difficult to continue in the rocky, hilly land of Peru. So what other methods could be used?
Medcalf got a new idea from the barefoot doctors of China. And that was how the barefoot librarians first appeared in the villages of northern Peru, almost thirty years ago.
The librarians began by going from village to village, lending books to villagers. They helped start The Rural Library Network of Peru.
At first, they were teachers of the village schools which these faraway libraries belonged to. But the teachers were not very interested in the job because it meant a lot of hard work. So, village leaders took on the job themselves.
Today, there are 600 village libraries across Peru. The barefoot librarians who walk up to 15 hours a day with bags of books are their lifeline.
29.The first paragraph tells us that Leonardo ______.
    A.enjoyed reading books
    B.bought candles from the church
    C.had a lot of books
    D.lived in the church

    A.to grow to love books
    B.to read and write
    C.to bring books to people
    D.to build a new library
    31.The passage doesn’t mention ______.
    A.where Medcalf met Chinese doctors
B.who worked as village librarians at first
    C.when the barefoot librarians appeared
D.how many village libraries Peru has today
32.It can be inferred (推断) from the passage that ______.
A.the first church in Peru was set up by John Medcalf
B.car libraries used to be popular in Leonardo’s village
C.teachers were interested in bringing books to villagers
D.the barefoot librarians are important to village libraries

Teaching is a constant process of upgrade, where every moment you learn new things, not only as a teacher, but also as a human being.
At the start of my career, I believed I should come across to my students as a “no-nonsense” type of person. My entire focus was towards maintaining classroom discipline. It was tough. Most of my Indian students were from a rural background. They would intentionally use vocabulary that sounded Greek to me. They did all in their power to make me feel like a fish out of water.
My last lecture ended at 2:30 in the afternoon. Some of the students approached me begging to let them leave 15 minutes early as they had a bus to catch. My permission resulted in a stir (骚动) as half of the class stood up to leave. They all had buses to catch! Unable to distinguish between the genuine ones and those faking it, I put a ban on anybody leaving before time.
One evening, I spotted three boys from my last class at the bus stop. I called out, “You constantly blame me for not allowing you to leave early because you have a bus to catch and here you are still hanging around at 5 pm!” One of the boys replied respectfully and humbly, “Madam, the bus leaves at 2:30. If we leave the class at 2:15, we are able to make it. In case we miss it, the next bus to our village comes after three hours. Now we are waiting for it. At this hour, the bus will be overloaded and we will not even get a seat.”
I was full of regret. The next day, I asked all the students who had a bus to catch to write an application, get it signed and leave whenever they wanted, without seeking my permission. I learnt the first lesson of my life as a teacher—learn to understand your students, for they would learn better from you when they respect you than when they fear you.
33.What gave the author the biggest headache when she started teaching?
A.Her students’ serious violent behavior. B.Her struggle to keep her classes in order.
C.Her inability to understand Greek words. D.Her students’ various educational backgrounds.
34.How did the author deal with the students’ request to leave before time at first?
A.She took it seriously. B.She refused it completely.
C.She permitted it immediately. D.She handled it gracefully.
35.How did the author feel the moment she spotted the three boys at the bus stop?
    A.Embarrassed. B.Angry. C.Regretful. D.Concerned.
36.What lesson can teachers learn from the story?
A.Show students that you respect them.
    B.Care about students’ emotional experiences.
C.Cooperate with students to improve learning.
D.Evaluate yourself first and the students second.

(2022春·湖南株洲·高一株洲二中校考期中)Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a panoramic (全景的) view of the blue sea, white buildings and green olive trees, I paused to catch my breath and then positioned myself to take the best photo of this panorama.
Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view. Like me, this woman was here to stop, sigh and appreciate the view.
Patient as I was, after about 15 minutes, my camera scanning the sun and reviewing the shot I would eventually take, I grew frustrated. Was it too much to ask her to move so I could take just one picture of the landscape? Sure, I could have asked her, but something prevented me from doing so. She seemed so content in her observation. I didn’t want to mess with that.
Another 15 minutes passed and I grew exhausted. The woman was still there. I decided to take the photo anyway. And now when I look at it, I think her presence in the photo is what makes the image interesting. The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it.
This photo, with the unique beauty that unfolded before me and that woman who “ruined’ it, now hangs on a wall in my bedroom. What would she think if she knew that her figure is captured and frozen on some stranger’s bedroom wall? A bedroom, after all, is a very private space, in which some woman I don’t even know has been immortalized (使……永存). In some ways, she lives in my house.
Perhaps we all live in each other’s’ spaces. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, for something that is greater than us.
That photo is a reminder, a captured moment, an unspoken conversation between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass.
37.Why did the writer and the woman both came here?
A.To have fun together. B.To enjoy the beautiful scenery.
C.To take pictures of the landscape. D.To do research on the environment.
38.What made the writer feel annoyed?
A.The woman was too noisy. B.Her camera stopped working.
C.She was forbidden to take photos there. D.The woman blocked her view.
39.In the author’s opinion, what makes the photo so alive?
A.The rich color of the landscape. B.The perfect positioning of the camera.
C.The woman’s existence in the photo. D.The soft sunlight that summer day.
40.The passage can be seen as the author’s reflections on________
A.the art of photography. B.the friendship between two strangers.
C.the writer’s attitude to the landscape. D.a particular life experience of the writer.

根据第四段最后一句话“Different from traditional prostheses, Sun’s prostheses work a bit like adding muscle (肌肉) to the mechanical parts (机械部位)and allow people to move more easily.(与传统的假肢不同,Sun的假肢有点像在机械部件上增加肌肉,让人们更容易移动)”可推知,第四段主要讲述了孙小军的假肢和传统假肢有何不同。故选D。
    9.B    10.C    11.A    12.B

根据文章第二段关键句“G Adventures is an organization that helps you to connect with other like-minded people in small group-based travel activities. They played a big part in helping to make Peru an unforgettable experience for me!(G Adventures是一个帮助你在小组旅行活动中与其他志同道合的人建立联系的组织。他们发挥了很大的作用,使秘鲁成为我难忘的经历)”可知,作者对G Adventures很满意。故选B项。
10.细节理解题。根据文章第三段关键句“Many people visit Cusco for shopping but for me the main reason for spending a day or two in Cusco was to acclimatize to the altitude.(很多人去库斯科购物,但对我来说,在库斯科待上一两天的主要原因是为了适应海拔)”可知,作者待在Cusco是为了适应高海拔。故选C项。
根据文章最后一段关键句“Day three had me enjoying a lovely guided visit to Machu Picchu at sunrise.(第三天,我在导游的带领下在日出时分游览了马丘比丘)”及“It was a lot to take in! I had to stop for a moment and felt the energy of such an ancient city. The history here was unbelievable and I will never forget my time here for as long as I live!(要看的东西太多了!我不得不驻足片刻,感受这座古老城市的活力。这里的历史令人难以置信,只要我活着,我就永远不会忘记我在这里度过的时光)”可知,在参观Machu Picchu时,作者是非常兴奋的。故选A项。
根据文章第一段“Peru is famously known as the “land of the Incas”. Á trip to Peru has been on my wish list for quite a while. It was finally time for me to visit the country.(秘鲁以“印加人的土地”而闻名。秘鲁之旅在我的愿望清单上已经有一段时间了。终于到了我去这个国家旅游的时候了)”并结合下文内容可知,本文介绍了作者的一次去秘鲁旅行的美妙经历,“My wonderful trip to Peru(我美妙的秘鲁之旅)”符合本文主旨。故选B项。
    13.B    14.A    15.D    16.C

根据第一段中“I also knew I wasn’t able to be the best I could be, and with failure after failure in losing weight, I just felt so hopeless to make it.(我也知道我不可能成为最好的自己,在一次又一次的减肥失败之后,我只是觉得没有希望做到这一点)”和第二段中“One day in 2008, I was looking through ads online and saw a treadmill (跑步机) for $100.(2008年的一天,我在网上浏览广告,看到一个100美元的跑步机)”可知,在2008年前,作者认为减肥是没有希望的。故选B。
根据第二段中“The first week I started walking 15 minutes on the treadmill at a fixed time every day. The next week I did 16 minutes. Each week I added a minute. Gradually, I increased speed as well as time. Once I got to 30 minutes, the weight started dropping off.(第一周,我开始每天在固定的时间在跑步机上步行15分钟。第二周我跑了16分钟。每周我都会增加一分钟。渐渐地,我增加了速度和时间。当我坚持了30分钟,体重开始下降)”可知,作者第一周跑15分钟,以后每周增加一分钟,在跑30分钟时,体重开始下降,由此可计算出,30-15=15,即作者花了15周体重才开始下降,故选A。
15.推理判断题。根据第三段中“All the efforts I’d been putting into fitness made me want to start eating healthier, too...It was refusing food and habits that were bad for me.(我在健身上付出的所有努力让我也想开始吃得更健康……拒绝对我不好的食物和习惯)”和最后一段中“Today, the extra weight is gone. I still exercise every morning. I look and feel the best I have never done. (今天,多余的体重消失了。我仍然每天早上锻炼。我看起来和感觉起来都最好,这是我以前从来没有过的)”可知,作者如今减肥成功,没有了多余的体重,看起来和感觉起来都最好。由此推知,他会继续保持,坚持锻炼,健康饮食,拒绝不好的习惯和饮食。D项“增加额外的体重”不是他现在的做法。故选D。
16.推理判断题。根据第三段“I didn’t lose weight at first, but I didn’t give up like I did in the past. I realized I started feeling better. My legs were getting stronger. I didn’t feel painful like I used to when I got up from my desk. All the efforts I’d been putting into fitness made me want to start eating healthier, too. I began with small changes as well. After these years I started listening to my body. It was refusing food and habits that were bad for me.(一开始我没有减肥成功,但是我没有像过去那样放弃。
    17.A    18.B    19.B    20.A

根据第一段“Pausch was asked to deliver a ‘last lecture’. This well-known campus tradition allowed professors to share worldly wisdom with students as if they were dying and had one last lecture to give.(波什被要求做“最后一次演讲”。这一著名的校园传统让教授们可以像临终前的最后一节课一样,与学生们分享世俗的智慧。)”可知,波什教授被要求做一次最后的演讲是为了与学生们分享世俗的智慧,也就是为了教育学生。故选A。
根据第三段“He described the importance of having dreams and how anyone can still learn a lot by reaching for those dreams, even if they don’t always succeed. He shared the values learned through experience, which he hoped to pass on to others hard work, laughter and gratitude, honesty, character.(他描述了拥有梦想的重要性,以及每个人都可以通过追逐梦想学到很多东西,即使他们并不总是成功。他分享了从经验中学到的价值观,他希望将这些价值观传递给其他人努力工作、欢笑和感恩、诚实和品格。)”可知,波什在演讲中讲述了拥有梦想的重要性以及通过追求梦想学到的努力、诚实、乐观和感恩等,也就是说他的演讲主要是关于拥有梦想和良好的价值观,故选B。
19.细节理解题。根据第四段“Readers were deeply moved by the book’s representation of Pausch’s lifelong philosophy and the way it revealed the biggest source of his motivation—his three young children.(读者们被书中对鲍许一生哲学的描述和他最大的动力来源——他的三个年幼的孩子所深深打动。)”
根据文章内容,特别是最后一段“He continues to motivate us all by encouraging us to never give up our childhood dreams—a source of inspiration that can never run dry.(他鼓励我们永远不要放弃儿时的梦想,这是永不枯竭的灵感源泉。)”
    21.B    22.D    23.C    24.A

根据第二段中的““I don’t mind,” she said, “I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice (临终安养院).” I looked in-the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were wet. I quietly reached over and shut off the meter (计价表). (“我不介意,”她说,“我不着急。我正在去临终安养院的路上。”我看着后视镜。她的眼睛湿润了。我悄悄地伸手关了计价表。)”可知,作者听到老人说的话,又看到她眼眶湿润,对她充满了同情,所以关闭了计价表。故选B项。
22.推理判断题。根据第三段中的“For the next two hours, we drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newly married. She had me stop in front of a shabby house where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building and sat staring into the darkness, saying nothing. (接下来的两个小时里,我们开车经过了她和丈夫新婚时居住的街区。她让我在她小时候去跳舞的一所破旧的房子前停下。有时她会让我在某栋大楼前放慢车速,然后坐在那里凝视着黑暗,一言不发)”可知,老人穿过市区的目的是重温她的记忆,在去临终安养院前最后一次看看这座城市。故选D项。
23.推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“Great moments often catch us unaware, beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one. (重要的时刻往往在我们不经意间出现,美丽地包裹在别人可能认为微不足道的事情中)”可知,作者认为一些微不足道的时刻也具有重大的意义,可得出一个小小的善行会给人们带来巨大的快乐。故选C项。
24.主旨大意题。根据第一段中的“Twenty years ago, I drove a taxi for a living.(二十年前,我以开出租车为生)”及最后一段中的“Great moments often catch us unaware, beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one. (重要的时刻往在我们不经意间出现,美丽地包裹在别人可能认为微不足道的事情中)”可知,作者讲述了二十年前作为出租车司机时的一次经历,让作者感悟到很多微不足道的事情也有着重大的意义,A项“我永远不会忘记的出租车经历”适合作为文章标题。故选A项。
    25.B    26.C    27.A    28.C

根据第一段中“When I was 17, I read a magazine article about a museum called the McNay, once the home of a watercolorist named Marian McNay. (17岁的时候,我在杂志上读到一篇文章,讲的是一个叫麦克奈的博物馆,曾经是一位名叫Marian McNay的水彩画家的家)”可知,Marian McNay是一名水彩画家。故选B。
26.推理判断题。根据第四段中“‘May I help you?’ a man asked. ‘No,’ I said. ‘We’re fine.’ Tour guides got on my nerves. What if they talked a long time about a painting you weren’t that interested in? (“我能帮你吗?”一个男人问。“不,”我说。“我们很好。导游让我心烦意乱。如果他们谈论了很长时间一幅你不是很感兴趣的画呢?)”可知,作者拒绝了屋子里男人的帮助是因为作者把他当成了“让人心烦意乱”的导游。故选C。
27.推理判断题。根据第四段中“The people in the hall seemed very nosy (爱窥探的), keeping their eyes on me with curiosity. What was their problem? (大厅里的人似乎很爱管闲事,好奇地盯着我。他们怎么了?)”可知,被大厅里的人盯着看,作者感到很困惑。故选A。
根据最后一段中“Before you came over, I never realized what a beautiful place I lived in. I never felt lucky before. (在你来之前,我从没意识到我住的地方有多美。我以前从没觉得自己很幸运)”可知,女主人在作者到来之前从来没有发现自己宅子的美,由此推知,人们通常对身边的美视而不见。故选C。
    29.A    30.C    31.A    32.D

根据第一段中“So Leonardo borrowed candles from the church and sat up all night reading it. The next morning, he was at the door of the priest asking for another book to read.”(于是Leonardo从教堂借了蜡烛,整晚坐着读这本书。 故选A项。
根据第二段最后一句“So he thought the only way was to bring books to people.”(所以他认为唯一的办法就是把书带给人们。)
根据第四段“Medcalf got a new idea from the barefoot doctors of China. And that was how the barefoot librarians first appeared in the villages of northern Peru, almost thirty years ago.”(Medcalf从中国的赤脚医生那里得到了一个新想法。 以及最后一段中“Today, there are 600 village libraries across Peru.”(今天,秘鲁全国有600个乡村图书馆。) 故选A项。
根据第五段“The librarians began by going from village to village, lending books to villagers. They helped start The Rural Library Network of Peru.”(图书管理员开始从一个村庄到另一个村庄,把书借给村民。 以及最后一段中“The barefoot librarians who walk up to 15 hours a day with bags of books are their lifeline.”(赤脚图书管理员每天要背着一袋袋的书走15个小时,这是他们的生命线。)

由第二段“My entire focus was towards maintaining classroom discipline. It was tough.(我的整个工作的重点是维持教室纪律。那很困难)”可知,作者工作全部重心是维持纪律,但是做起来很困难,让作者头疼。故选B。
34.细节理解题。由第三段“ Some of the students approached me begging to let them leave 15 minutes early as they had a bus to catch. My permission resulted in a stir and restlessness as half of the class stood up to leave. (一些学生走近我,乞求让他们提前15分钟离开,因为他们要赶公共汽车。我的允许导致混乱和不安)”可知,一开始作者是同意学生提前离开的请求的。故选C。
35.推理判断题。由第四段作者的话“You constantly blame me for not allowing you to leave early because you have a bus to catch and here you are still hanging around at 5 pm! (你们经常怪我不允许你们早点离开去赶车,可是现在5点钟了还在这里闲逛)”可知,作者认为学生在闲逛,表明作者有些气恼。故选B。
36.推理判断题。由最后一段“I learnt the first lesson of my life as a teacher — learn to empathize (共鸣) with your students(作为老师,我学到了职业生涯的第一个教训——学会和学生产生共鸣)”可知,作者学会了拥有同理心,即:关心学生的情感体验,这也是作者会给其他老师的建议。故选B。
    37.B    38.D    39.C    40.D

根据第二段最后一句“Like me, this woman was here to stop, sigh and appreciate the view.(像我一样,这个女人来这里是为了停下来,叹口气,欣赏风景。)”
根据第二段第一句“Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view.(不幸的是,就在我拿出相机的时候,一个女人从后面走了过来,在我的视线前站稳了。)”
根据第四段最后一句“The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it.(这片风景本身就很美,但由于这位女士的参与,它以某种方式复活并呼吸。)”
根据倒第二段“Perhaps we all live in each other’s’ spaces. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, for something that is greater than us.(也许我们都住在彼此的空间里。也许这就是照片的目的:提醒我们,我们都欣赏美,我们都有一个共同的愿望,那就是快乐,渴望联系,渴望比我们更伟大的东西。)”和最后一段“That photo is a reminder, a captured moment, an unspoken conversation between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass.(那张照片是一个提醒,一个捕捉到的时刻,两个女人之间的无声对话,只隔着一块薄薄的玻璃。)”
