D: Gd afternn. I: Dr. Maguire,in ur daily life,we may cme acrss varius cnflicts. Fr example,neighburs cmplain f extremely lud music until very late at night and parents becme really angry with their children fr spending t much time nline. In yur pinin,what is the best way t deal with cnflict?
    D: Well,there are three cmmn ways. The first way is t respnd t anger with mre anger. This means yu react mre negatively and vilently t a situatin f cnflict. This is the wrst way f handling cnflict,because the situatin can get wrse r even lead t vilence. Unfrtunately,it is ne f the mst cmmn ways f reacting t cnflict.I: Mm,that’s true. D: Anther way,which desn’t wrk very well,is ding nthing. I: What d yu mean? D: This is when the persn says nthing and tries t escape r ignre the situatin. They just hpe that if they hld ut fr lng enugh,things will get better by and by. This des nt slve any prblem and the persn wh withdraws feels mre and mre angry with the ther persn. Hlding yur feelings inside can be very unhealthy.
    I: Indeed. That’s very true. D: Anther pssibility is t ask fr help frm smebdy utside the situatin. I: What d yu mean exactly? D: Well,this is when yu call n smebdy utside the situatin,and they decide what shuld happen. This can be useful,especially if the cnflict is serius. Hwever,peple utside the situatin may nt knw the whle stry. They are usually nt in the psitin t make the right judgement. Withut dubt,the best thing t d is t try t negtiate with the ther persn.     Nt talking t her mther fr three days wuld make bth Amy and her mther feel very upset. It wuld be better if Amy and her mther went t the maths teacher and discuss Amy’s prblems and find a slutin.
    b  Bb accidentally stamped n a man’s ft n the bus. The man was very angry and swre at Bb. Bb was angry,t. He yelled and swre back at the man. c  Daisy thught Cathy had reprted her t the teacher,even thugh Cathy had nt. Daisy was s angry that she wuldn’t allw Cathy t tell her side f the stry. Therefre,Cathy asked her friend Fina t talk t Daisy n her behalf.
    This situatin culd have led n t a mre serius argument and eventually get plice invlved in. The man culd have cmplained and Bb culd have said srry right away.
    Daisy’s stubbrn behaviur culd have ended her friendship with Cathy. Daisy shuld have been mre pen t Cathy’s side f the stry.
