Temidayo Adedokun, 31, who was born in Nigeria and now is working in America, became pregnant with her first child. She couldn’t hide her joy, and couldn’t wait to shop for baby clothes with traditional African prints that she grew up wearing.
“I was super surprised that I failed to find affordably priced African aesthetic(美学的) products that were designed from an authentic place, ” Temidayo said.
Temidayo decided to take matters into her own hands. At first, she focused on creating clothes just for her baby. But then, she put some of them on a website to see what happened.
The feedback she got gave her just enough confidence. She figured she’d make the baby clothes an after-work side business to her full-time position as a lawyer in Oakland, California, until one day she was told she was given a boot. Once again, she needed to make her own choice. That’s when she decided to make it a full-time job.
“I had to evaluate: Am I going to search for another job I don’t have a great desire for?” she said. “Or am I going to take this as a chance I’m not sure about myself? After all, I’m not familiar with this field. What if something unexpected happens? However, for the symbols of children’s clothing in my heart, I threw myself into it. So I chose the latter. ”Then, in March 2020, Temidayo officially announced her own brand: Ade + Ayo.
Since then, Temidayo has received much praise from other African parents informing her that her clothes help them start having conversations with their kids about what they’re wearing and allow them to show their children the treasures handed down by their ancestors. And, for those who aren’t African, her clothes have been a way for parents to introduce their kids to a new and colorful world. “I feel very blessed to be able to be doing this,” she said.
24. How did Temidayo feel after trying to buy African aesthetic clothes?
A. Pleased. B. Confident.
C. Stressful. D. Disappointed.
25. What does the underlined phrase “given a boot” in paragraph 4 mean?

26. What did Temidayo originally think of her creating her own brand?
A. It was informal. B. It was profitable.
C. It was risky. D. It was trendy.
27. How can we evaluate Ade + Ayo?
A. It’s created African aesthetics. B. It’s spread authentic cultures.
C. It’s targeted overseas Africans. D. It’s inspired people’s creativity.

The key to a successful garage sale is to get the word out. The best way of advertising your sale is to place an ad in the local newspaper. If you have a city and neighborhood paper, make sure you advertise in both. The ad should be large enough to stand out. It should also include information on where the sale is located with directions, the “hot" items you're selling and the time when the sale will start and end. An ad should be placed at least two days before the sale and run until the day of your event. That way people can plan their route to the sale in advance.
Signs must be another great way to inform your community. Post them where people gather, such as stores and community centers. Some businesses have a central bulletin board, which is the best place to advertise. Other places to post are at the local college or university campus. This is especially helpful if your sale is happening in August or early September when students have returned to school and are looking for cheap finds.
Post signs round your neighborhood. You should also place both ads and direction signs, especially if you're located on a side street without a major presence. Signs will attract and direct people. Just make sure your print is in bold letters and use large direction signs so that people can read the information from the front seat of their car.
28. You should place an ad at least two days before the sale so that people can ________.
A. get enough cash for the sale B. compare prices of the items
C. select the items they will buy D. decide on their route beforehand
29. Why should signs be posted in a community center?
A. Schools are nearby. B. There are many stores.
C. Students often meet there. D. More people gather there.
30. What advice is given for printing the signs according to the last paragraph?
A. Colored signs are preferred. B. Bold letters should be used.
C. Large pictures should be included. D. Phone numbers should be provided.
31. The best title for the passage might be ________.
A. Advertising Garage Sales B. Advantages of Garage Sales
C. Importance of Garage Sales D. Printing Ads for Garage Sales

The herd of 14 wild Asian elephants wandering around in southwestern China's Yunnan province successfully went through the last natural barrier on its way home and returned to its traditional habitat in Pu' er city on Friday.
At 1 am, the elephants, which had left their habitat in Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve, crossed the Babian River and entered Ning'er county in Pu' er city, one of the three major habitats of Asian elephants in Yunnan. The northbound trip, lasting about 18 months, finally ended without any harm to either the elephants or local residents. The herd departed from its traditional habitat in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous district last year and started traveling north in April. It passed through eight counties in the province during the journey. In June, it eventually reached the suburbs of Kunming, the provincial capital.
The herd started its journey with 16 members, but three of them dropped out, while two calves were born on the journey. In June, a bull elephant broke away from the group and wandered off on his own. In July, the bull elephant was lifted into a cage on the back of a truck and returned to Xishuangbanna.
The Asian elephant is listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The animal, which can be found in the areas of Yunnan bordering Myanmar and Laos, is also under first-class State protection in China. Shen Qingzhong, a senior engineer from the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve, said it's inevitable(难免的)that the elephants will make another journey in the future as migration is a normal activity for elephants. “Historically, Asian elephants used to live in many parts of the country. Migration is in their nature. It helps the species expand its territory and have more chances to improve its gene pool by mating with different groups,” he said.
The forestry department and the provincial government plan to develop a national park, which aims to provide habitat protection for the elephants and a balanced relationship with residents.
32. Which of the following is True?
A. The elephants finally settled in the downtown of Kunming.
B. The journey took the elephants over two years.
C. The elephants' habitat is far away from Kunming.
D. The elephants moved towards the south of Yunnan.
33. In June, how many elephants continued their journey together?
A. 13. B. 14.
C. 15. D. 16.
34. What can we infer from the engineer's words?
A. Elephants can benefit from migration.
B. Migration is an abnormal activity for elephants.
C. Elephants have less chances to improve their gene.
D. Elephants used to live in its territory.
35. What does the article mainly talk about?
A. Elephants in Yunnan. B. How to protect the elephants.
C. The activities of the elephants. D. Elephants return from the journey.

On a bright, warm July afternoon, Mac Hollan, a primary school teacher, was cycling from his home to Alaska with his friends. One of his friends had stopped to make a bicycle repair, but they had encouraged Mac to carry on, and they would catch up with him soon. As Mac pedaled (骑行) along alone, he thought fondly of his wife and two young daughters at home. He hoped to show them this beautiful place someday.
Then Mac heard quick and loud breathing behind him. “Man that's a big dog!” he thought. But when he looked to the side, he saw instantly that it wasn’t a dog at all, but a wolf, quickly catching up with him.
Mac’s heart jumped. He found out his can of hear spray. With one hand on the bars, he fired the spray at the wolf. A bright red cloud enveloped the animal, and to Mac's relief, it fell back, shaking its head. But a minute later, it was by his side again. Then it attacked the back of Mac's bike, tearing open his tent bag. He fired at the wolf a second time, and again, it fell back only to quickly restart the chase (追赶).
Mac was pedaling hard now. He waved and yelled at passing cars but was careful not to slow down. He saw a steep uphill climb before him. He knew that once he hit the hill, he’d be easy caught up and the wolf’s teeth would be tearing into his flesh.
At this moment, Paul and Becky were driving their car on their way to Alaska. They didn’t think much of it when they saw two cyclists repairing their bike on the side of the road. A bit later, they spotted what they, too, assumed was a dog running alongside a man on a bike. As they got closer, they realized that the dog was a wolf. Mac heard a large vehicle behind him. He pulled in front of it as the wolf was catching up fast, just a dozen yards away now.
