Most people aren’t good at creative problem solving for two reasons: (1) They are not trained in how to be creative. (2) They don’t understand group strength well enough to harness (驾驭) their power to maximize group creativity.
A key element of creativity is applying existing knowledge to a new problem. The more people getting involved in solving it, the more knowledge there is to work on it. Unfortunately, research shows that the traditional brainstorming methods fail to achieve that goal. When groups get together to exchange ideas, they actually come up with fewer ideas overall than if they each had worked alone.
To fix this problem, you should consider the two stages of group problem-solving: divergence (分散) and convergence (集中). Divergence happens when the group considers as many different potential solutions as possible. Convergence happens when the various proposed solutions are evaluated and reduced to a smaller set of candidate solutions to the current problem.
The essential principle of group creativity is that individuals working alone diverge, whereas group members working together converge. In groups, once a member states a potential solution, that makes others think about the problem similarly. That is why groups working together diverge less than individuals working alone.
Therefore, be aware of when to diverge and when to converge. For example, early in the problem-solving process, have group members work alone to write down statements describing the problem. Then get them back to discuss their descriptions. The group discussion will lead everyone to accept one or a small number of these statements to work on — this is healthy convergence.
When starting to generate solutions, you again want divergence. Have people work alone to start. Then collect people’s initial ideas and send them around to others and allow the divergence to continue as everyone individually builds on the ideas of other members.
Finally, let the group discuss the resulting ideas. This discussion will gradually lead the group to converge on a small number of candidate solutions.
This simple method works effectively, because it respects what individuals and groups do best.
24.According to Para. 4, when a member presents an idea, others tend to_____.
A.think the other way round
B.follow his way of thinking
C.be more confident in their own ideas
D.be less willing to share their own ideas
25.What should group members first do early in the problem-solving process?
A.Discuss the problem.
B.Simplify the problem.
C.Put down group statements together.
D.Write down their individual descriptions.
26.How can each group member make changes to his initial solution?
A.By adding in collected evidence.
B.By reorganizing his own words.
C.By drawing on others’ ideas.
D.By making his statement briefer.
27.What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage?
A.To advocate a way to make group thinking more effective.
B.To demonstrate the difficulty in organizing group thinking.
C.To highlight the differences between divergence and convergence.
D.To show the advantage of group thinking over individual thinking.

On Scotland’s Isle of Skye, scientists have identified two areas with evidence of ancient life forms. They believe the markings are, in fact, footprints from dinosaurs that lived 170 million years ago. Those prints date to the middle of the Jurassic Period, a time from which few dinosaur fossils have been recovered. Researchers reported this month on their study of about 50 fossilized footprints at the two sites. The markings are just a few hundred meters apart from each other. They are said to show dinosaurs walking in different directions.
At least three kinds of dinosaurs left the footprints. Steve Brusatte, the leader of the research team, is a paleontologist with the University of Edinburgh. “The tracks are located on flat rocky surfaces near the beach, so they are only exposed at low tide," he said. “The tide laps across them, back and forth, every day. ”
One set of markings came from a two-legged, meat-eating dinosaur that researchers say was about the size of a car. They say its footprints have three toes. The creature, with sharp claws, appears to be from a group of dinosaurs called theropods. Bigger, three-toed footprints came from large-bodied, two-legged plant-eaters called ornithopods. The researchers are especially interested in markings left by another creature: an early member of a group of heavily built, four-legged plant-eaters called stegosaurs.
“I suspect this stegosaur was about the size of a cow, which is fairly small for a stegosaur. Whether that's because it's a primitive, smaller species or a juvenile of a bigger species, we're not sure," Brusatte said. The researchers noted that the findings were an important window into the many kinds of dinosaurs on the Isle of Skye. “Skye has emerged as one of the most important windows into Jurassic dinosaur evolution. We know that dinosaurs were diversifying with a frenzy in the Middle Jurassic, but there are few fossil sites of this age anywhere in the world," Brusatte added.
28.What do the "ancient life forms" refer to in the first paragraph?
A.Dinosaurs dating to the middle of the Jurassic Period.
B.Dinosaurs living far away from each other.
C.The fossilized footprints discovered this month.
D.The fossilized footprints discovered in the middle of the Jurassic Period.
29.Which can replace the underlined word “tracks" in paragraph 2?
A.leaves B.swallows C.touches D.surpasses
30.What does the third paragraph mainly tells us?
A.The influence of the markings discovered in Skye.
B.The dinosaurs related to the footprints discovered in Skye.
C.The dinosaurs with different appearances.
D.The dinosaurs with different habitats.
31.What can we infer from Brusatte’s words in the last paragraph?
A.The findings contribute to learning more about dinosaurs in Skye.
B.There are a few fossil sites in other places in the world.
C.There were a wide range of dinosaurs living in the area.
D.Skye plays an important part in Scotland.
D
An old saw has it that there is nothing new under the sun. But it may still come as a surprise that human beings aren’t alone in having invented vaccination Work published by Gyan Harwood of the University of Illinois confirms that honeybees got there first. It also suggests they run the vaccination programmes like humans.
One discovery in 2015 is that queen bees vaccinate their eggs by transferring into them antigens (抗原) which start the development of a protective immune response. But that observation raises the question of how the queen receives her antigen supply in the first place, for she lives only on royal jelly (蜂王浆) produced by worker bees who act as nurses to baby bees. Dr. Harwood therefore wondered if the nurses obtain the antigens while eating nectar (花蜜) .
To test this idea, he cooperated with Heli Salmela. Together, they collected about 150 nurse bees and divided them among six queenless hives (蜂巢) with baby bees to look after. Instead of nectar, they fed the nurses on sugar-water, and for three of the hives they mixed the sugar-water with a bacterium that causes a hive-killing disease.
In this case, to stop such an infection happening, Dr Harwood and Dr Salmela heat-treated the bacteria to kill them in advance. They also labeled the dead bacteria with a fluorescent dye (荧光染料) to make them easy to track. And, the result showed that pathogens (病原体) were getting into royal jelly produced by those nurse bees.
All told that nurse bees are indeed, through their royal jelly, passing antigens on to the queen, and then to the eggs. Meanwhile, after they hatch, the eggs receive antigens from the nurses as well, thus being vaccinated twice.
32.In which section of a newspaper can we find this text?
A.Science. B.Education. C.Geography. D.Medicine.
33.What does Dr. Harwood in paragraph 2 put forward?
A.An assumption. B.A suggestion.
C.A theory. D.A fact.
34.Why were the nurse bees fed on sugar-water instead of nectar?
A.To stop infections happening. B.To find out the antigen supply.
C.To produce bacteria. D.To offer another food choice.
35.Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Nurse Bees Invent Vaccination
B.Queen Bees Vaccinate Their Eggs
C.Honeybees Popularize Vaccination
D.Honeybees Run Vaccination Programme

When school was over, the day was fading and it started to drizzle(毛毛雨). I stood at the school gate, with a loaded backpack on my shoulders. It was Friday again: a weekend of joy with unlimited sleeping hours and dinner courses specially made to my taste, a weekend at home. I waved goodbye to my friends as they jumped into their fathers’ warm and comfortable cars. Curiously, this gave rise to a disturbing feeling in me. It was not exactly what they called jealousy, but something like dismay(沮丧). I knew all I could expect was an old bike Mom would ride along on, with the badly-oiled chain creaking(嘎吱作响) against the wheel to announce her arrival.
Every Friday when Mom came to pick me up for the weekend, it was a moment full of great expectation and great unease. I always felt my face burning as we rode our way in and out of the numerous cars and saw my friends’ faces sticking out of the car windows. It was like stepping into a ballroom with beautifully dressed ladies and finding yourself in a smelly T-shirt.
To tell you the truth, Mom is quite a headache once in a while. She just looks a homely middle-aged housewife. Being a practitioner of DIY, she knits most of my sweaters, chiefly in old styles. Whenever caught by some curious classmates asking what brand my sweaters are, I’d force a smile and reply in a half joking manner: homemade.
I couldn’t remember when I started to find her such an embarrassment. As a little boy, I relied on her so much. She had been working at home, cooking in the kitchen, knitting by the lamp or riding across town to buy me a book I badly needed. It had always been much fun riding with mom. But just now there seemed to be something standing between us, something that made her so strange to me and me to her.

M: When I think about my best travel experience ever, so many things jump out at me: Diving in the Great Barrier Reef, feeding elephants in Thailand, and even teaching kids in Cambodia. But one experience stands above the rest. And that was my trip to Myanmar with my best friend. We knew that Wi-Fi would be a struggle. For our entire trip, we had to be in the moment, with no social media, no work, and completely focus on what we were doing and where we were. This was a challenge for someone who is continually working and always connected. But I do think it forced us to be present in a way that we wouldn’t have been if we were constantly checking our phones. The highlight of the trip was the hot air balloon ride over the temples at sunrise. We were lucky to get a clear day, and many other rides had been cancelled due to poor weather. The temples were at their best at sunrise. They shone in the sun and picked up the gold. This still goes down as my best travel experience ever.

The group discussion will lead everyone to accept one or a small number of these statements to work on — this is healthy convergence. Then collect people’s initial ideas and send them around to others and allow the divergence to continue as everyone individually builds on the ideas of other members.(然后收集人们最初的想法,并把它们传递给其他人,让分歧继续下去,因为每个人都以其他成员的想法为基础)可知,每个小组成员通过吸收其他人的想法来改变自己最初的解决方案。故选C。
This simple method works effectively, because it respects what individuals and groups do best.(这个简单的方法很有效,因为它尊重个人和团队的最佳表现)以及原文开篇提到小组讨论存在的问题,接着作者提出了解决此问题的两种方法,分散与集中。 故选A。

根据第一段中“On Scotland’s Isle of Skye, scientists have identified two areas with evidence of ancient life forms. They believe the markings are, in fact, footprints from dinosaurs that lived 170 million years ago. Those prints date to the middle of the Jurassic Period, a time from which few dinosaur fossils have been recovered.” 故选A。
根据划线词上文中“At least three kinds of dinosaurs left the footprints.(至少有三种恐龙留下了脚印)”以及划线词后文“are located on flat rocky surfaces near the beach”可知位于海滩附近平坦的岩石表面,由此可知,是这些痕迹位于海滩附近平坦的岩石表面划线词意思为“痕迹”。A. leaves树叶;B. swallows燕子,吞咽;C. touches痕迹;D. surpasses超越。故选C。
根据第三段“One set of markings came from a two-legged, meat-eating dinosaur that researchers say was about the size of a car. They say its footprints have three toes. The creature, with sharp claws, appears to be from a group of dinosaurs called theropods. Bigger, three-toed footprints came from large-bodied, two-legged plant-eaters called ornithopods. The researchers are especially interested in markings left by another creature: an early member of a group of heavily built, four-legged plant-eaters called stegosaurs.”
根据最后一段中“The researchers noted that the findings were an important window into the many kinds of dinosaurs on the Isle of Skye.(研究人员指出,这些发现是了解斯凯岛上多种恐龙的重要窗口)”以及后文中“Skye has emerged as one of the most important windows into Jurassic dinosaur evolution.(Skye已经成为了解侏罗纪恐龙进化最重要的窗口之一)”由此从Brusatte的话中可推知,这些发现有助于更多地了解斯凯岛的恐龙。故选A。

根据文章第一段关键句“But it may still come as a surprise that human beings aren’t alone in having invented vaccination.Work published by Gyan Harwood of the University of Illinois confirms that honeybees got there first. It also suggests they run the vaccination programmes like humans.”(但令人惊讶的是,发明疫苗的并不只是人类。 故选A项。
Harwood therefore wondered if the nurses obtain the antigens while eating nectar.”(因此,哈伍德博士想知道保姆峰是否在吃花蜜时获得了抗原。) 故选A项。
Harwood therefore wondered if the nurses obtain the antigens while eating nectar.”(因此,哈伍德博士想知道保姆峰是否在吃花蜜时获得了抗原。)及第三段关键句“Instead of nectar, they fed the nurses on sugar-water, and for three of the hives they mixed the sugar-water with a bacterium that causes a hive-killing disease.”(他们用糖水代替花蜜喂养这些保姆峰,并把糖水和一种细菌混合在一起,这种细菌会导致杀死蜂群的疾病。)
根据文章最后一段内容“All told that nurse bees are indeed, through their royal jelly, passing antigens on to the queen, and then to the eggs. Meanwhile, after they hatch, the eggs receive antigens from the nurses as well, thus being vaccinated twice.”(综上所述,保姆峰确实是通过蜂王浆将抗原传给蜂王,然后传给卵。

39.根据本段小标题Where to put non-clothing?
If you take a belt, slip them along the inside of your case. That will take more space.
比如小题4,根据本段小标题Where to put non-clothing?

67. Today she showed up in a raincoat. Seeing her standing in the heavy rain with all the body wet, I finally could not control myself and shouted at her, “Why do you look so flustered? I don’t need you to take me home. I feel ashamed to have a mother like you!” Suddenly, Mom was shocked and silent. Maybe, she had never thought that I would have that feeling of her appearance and our home condition. She said nothing and just covered the raincoat on me. I pushed it away wildly.
Mom tried to cover me with the back of the raincoat again as a storm set in. With a smile, she said, “Dear son, I’m trying my best to earn our living, and I’m sure that if we work harder, we will get whatever we want in the future.” Hearing her words, I felt embarrassed. I thought of the time when she knitted in the deep night and cooked for me in the early morning. Yes, she had always been doing whatever she could to make me live well. But I was still unsatisfied. I had known that if I wanted to get what others had, I should spare no efforts to study hard and get it by myself.
