Activity 1 Enjy a vide
Teacher invites students t enjy a vide in which a girl called Felicia is asking fr help. Ask the students t find ut the prblem— “Hw t write an animal fact file?”
Activity 2 The red-crwned crane
In activity 2, the teacher shws students a picture f the red-crwned crane and a paragraph describing it. Ask students t read the paragraph and answer five questins related t the material. The questins are as fllws.
What des the red-crwned crane lk like?
Where can yu find it?
Where des it migrate t?
What des it eat?
What symblic meaning des the red-crwned crane have in Chinese culture?
After answering the questins, the teacher leads students t summarize the cntents f an animal fact file, which are “the name f the animal, its appearance, habitat, migratin, diet, and ther infrmatin.”
Activity 3 Useful expressins
In this activity, students are encuraged t find ut the useful expressins n describing an animal, as is demnstrated belw.
Activity 4 The fact file f the giant panda
In activity 4, the teacher will guide the students t write a fact file f the giant panda based n the infrmatin in the chart.
In this activity, the teacher als gives a checklist f evaluating t allw students t self-evaluate and peer-evaluate their writing.
