Unit 1 Where did you go on vacation?

一、导入

Look at the picture in 2d and guess where it is, then talk about what the students know about Huangguoshu Waterfall.

二、目标

1. Students will learn some new words and expressions, such as: wonderful, quite a few, most of the time, etc.
2. Students will talk about vacation activities by using the simple past tense;
3. Students will improve listening and speaking abilities.   

三、先学

1. ① Students listen to the conversation and find out what they are talking about;

② Ask some students to share the answer.

2. Students listen again and answer the following questions:

  (1) Where did Helen go on vacation?

     She went to Guizhou with her family.

  (2) What did Rick do on vacation?

     He stayed at home most of the time to read and relax.

3.Students read the conversation and try to translate, underline the words or phrases they don’t understand.

四、后教

1. Translate the conversation and lead the students to read it for several times;
2. Explain the important and difficult points to the class.
3. Language points

(1)  Oh, did you go anywhere interesting?

anywhere /'eniweə/, /'eniwer/ adv. 在任何地方

e.g. I can’t find my bike anywhere.

我到处都找不到我的自行车。

anywhere是不定副词，常用于否定句和疑问句中，表示“在任何地方”。如果用在肯定句中则表示“无论何处；随便哪个地方”。形容词修饰不定副词后置。

(2) It was wonderful!

wonderful /'wʌndə(r)fl/ adj. 精彩的；绝妙的

e.g. If you work harder, I think your future will be wonderful.

如果你更加努力，我认为你的未来将会很精彩。

构词法记单词

-ful形容词后缀,一般加在名词之后。

color+ -ful →colorful

help+-ful → helpful

My parents and I had a wonderful（wonder）journey to Hainan.

(3)We took quite a few photos there.

quite a few 相当多；不少; 相当于many，后面接可数名词复数。

e.g. Quite a few students took part in the sports meeting last week.

很多学生上周参加了运动会。

(4)  I just stayed at home most of the time to read and relax.

  most /məʊst/ adj., adv. & pron. 最多；大多数

作代词，代替可数名词或不可数名词，常和of连用，谓语动词的形式取决于of 后面的名词。

e.g. It was Sunday and most of the shops were closed.

那天是星期天，大多数商店都关门了。

1. Students practice the conversation and role-play;
2. Students remember the language points.
