    第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分 50 分)
    第一节(共 15 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 37.5 分)
    阅读下列短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C 和 D 四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
    A
    Elephant reserve
This is a working vacation at a wildlife centre. Anyone can become a volunteer if he/she agrees to help the elephant keepers with tasks.

    Country: Thailand Daily tasks
    • Gather the elephants at 6:30 am.
    • Take them to look for food in the forest.
    • Clean the enclosure(围场).
    • Swim with the elephants in the lake in the afternoon.
If volunteers want to relax after work, they can watch TV. How this vacation helps
If these elephants hadn’t been rescued, they would still have been living on the streets of Bangkok now. The rural environment is much better for them than the urban environment where there is lots of pollution.
    Gorilla safari (野外观兽旅行)
If you’re lucky, you’ll see lions, elephants and rhinos during this safari. The highlight of the trip is the opportunity to see gorillas in the mountain forests. However, you must be in good health — if a gorilla catches a cold, it will be extremely harmful to its whole family.
    Countries: Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda
Departure(出发班次): 2-3 departures per month from August to December. How this vacation helps
There are only about 600 mountain gorillas left in the world as human activity has reduced the area where they can live. When you buy a ticket, this will pay for the protection of the national park.
    Polar bear watching
Every October and November groups of polar bears gather in Hudson Bay. As they are normally lonely creatures, this is not usual. The bears wait for the ocean to freeze so that they can hunt for seals, and therefore this is the perfect opportunity to see them.
    Area & Country: Arctic, Canada
Departure: sixty trips between Oct 1-Nov 19. How this vacation helps
If the Arctic ice cap melts due to global warming, polar bears will be in danger. We give a share of our profits to the charity that protects polar bears.
    21. Which of the following is the task for elephant volunteers?
    A. Teaching elephants to swim in the lake.
    B. Giving elephants a bath at 6:30 am.
    C. Making sure the enclosure is clean every day.
    D. Watching TV to learn knowledge about elephants.
    22. What do we know about the gorilla safari?
    A. You can set off in April to see gorillas.
    B. You can surely see lions, elephants and rhinos.
    C. Human activity has made gorillas’ living area smaller.
    D. To see lions in the mountain forests is the best part of the trip.

    23. What’s the aim of these activities?
    A. To help protect the wild animals.
    B. To help build more national parks.
    C. To help deal with the pollution in cities.
    D. To help solve the problem of global warming.

    B
The village of Hallstatt in Austria is a collection of old buildings. In summer, the mountains are green and the village is lovely. In winter, it’s like something out of a snow-covered fairy tale. Now it is being overrun with tourists, partly because it looks like the village from the movie Frozen. The town’s mayor is actually hoping that many tourists will stay away.
Hallstatt is small. Fewer than 800 people live there. But the number of visitors who arrive each day is huge — up to 10,000 visitors a day. Hallstatt’s popularity first began when it became a World Heritage Site in 1997. But the number of visitors increased quickly after the release of Disney’s movie Frozen in 2013. Though much of Frozen was based on life in Norway, Hallstatt looks a lot like Arendelle, the main village in the movie. Some people believe that Arendelle was based on Hallstatt.
Much of the tourism is driven by social media. Many of the visitors seem mainly interested in taking photos with the village in the background. Some local people feel stressed about it. With 10,000 visitors a day, that’s over 12 tourists for every person in Hallstatt. One man said his mother had woken up one day to find tourists in her bedroom.
The mayor would prefer to have fewer tourists. He thinks the town would be just fine with about one third fewer visitors each year. Starting from this year, Hallstatt will begin a program to reduce the number of buses bringing visitors to the village.
Before the tourism boomed, local people would leave Hallstatt to find work. Now many people depend upon the tourists for their living. Hotel rooms can cost between $350 and $450. And it costs over one dollar to use the public bathroom in Hallstatt. With 10,000 visitors a day, even toilets can be good business.
    24. What do we know about the village of Hallstatt in Austria?
    A. It has appeared in many famous movies.
    B. It is beautiful but crowded with tourists.
    C. It has a small population for its bad weather.
    D. It is an old village with poor customer service.
    25. What did the man mentioned in Paragraph 3 want to express?
    A. Visitors were welcome to stay at local homes.
    B. Local life was badly influenced by visitors.
    C. Social media brought visitors to his village.
    D. The locals had a close relationship with visitors.
    26. Which of the following best explains the word “boom” in the last Paragraph?
    A. sigh B. drop C. decline D. rocket

    27. What can we conclude from the text?
    A. Hallstatt is having fewer visitors for the high cost.
    B. Local people are satisfied with their life in Hallstatt.
    C. Tourism brings both trouble and benefits to local people.
    D. Local people have difficulty improving the housing service.

    C
From the early morning, I sit, glued to the chair in front of my computer, even for hours sometimes. But one thing I try to do every day is take a ten-minute walk around midday.
Walking at lunchtime is a smart thing to do, a new study finds. This doesn’t seem like news. After all, we’ve known forever that doing exercise is good for us. But as The New York Times points out, those fitness studies typically looked at the effects of exercise plans in the long run. This new study looks at changes that happen more quickly, from one day to the next or even from this hour to the next hour.
A group of office workers who almost sit got involved in the research, all out of shape, but otherwise emotionally and physically healthy. Researchers asked them to take 30-minute lunchtime walks, three days a week for 10 weeks. The volunteers were also asked to install apps on their phones, so that the researchers could send the volunteers questions after they walked. Then the researchers used those answers to judge how the volunteers were feeling about life and work, and to measure their feelings about everything from stress and tension to motivation.
When the researchers compared the volunteers’ answers on the afternoons when they walked to those on the afternoons they didn’t walk, there was quite a difference. On the days when they had a lunchtime walk, the volunteers said they felt less stressed, more energetic and more relaxed versus(与……相对) on the days when they didn’t walk.
Unfortunately, many of the volunteers weren’t confident that they’d continue walking after the
study, mainly because they were expected to work through their lunch breaks. Understandable, sad.
    28. How does the new study differ from other fitness studies?
    A. It focuses on the short-term effects of walking.
    B. It calls on people to have a walk after lunch.
    C. It mainly pays attention to office workers.
    D. It aims at studying the relationship between exercise and health.
    29. Why were the volunteers required to install apps on their phones?
    A. To chart their time spent online. B. To know how long they walked.
    C. To respond to the researchers’ questions. D. To prevent them from getting lost.
    30. What is the finding of the new study?
    A. Office workers usually have little time to go for a walk.
    B. Walking brings more advantages to people than other exercise.
    C. A long-time-to-sit lifestyle is linked to an increased risk of disease.
    D. Lunchtime walks contribute to quickly boosting people’s mood.

    31. What can we infer about the volunteers from the passage?
    A. They will spend more time walking.
    B. Some of them tend to be more outgoing.
    C. Most of them will perform better at work.
    D. They may stop lunchtime walks due to work pressure.

    D

“I bought some prefabricated food in late April when my community was locked down due to the coronavirus outbreak,” a Beijing-based resident Yu told Global Times. “It was then that I realized there were so many different sorts of prefabricated food. 32. What can be inferred from the Beijing-based resident Yu’s description?
    A. She suffered a lot during the period when her community was locked down. B The pandemic to some extent increased the popularity of prefabricated food.
    C. She had known prefabricated food quite a lot before the pandemic broke out.
    D. Numerous cooking skills are needed to prepare prefabricated food at home.
    33. What is the current situation of prefabricated food sector?
    A. Well-received but challenging. B. Profitable but insecure.
    C. Popular but unsuccessful. D. Promising but worthless.

    34. What does the underlined phrase “come under the spotlight” mean in paragraph 5?

    35. What did CCA suggest to promote the healthy growth of the prefabricated food market?

    阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I live in a city where jobs are difficult to get and if you want to find a well-paid job, it will be even harder. Therefore, it is not surprising for you to see many people in our city walk a long way because they can’t even afford an old used car.
It was a cold windy day. I saw one of these people who often have to walk from and to work every day, when I was driving after work. A middle-aged man wearing only a thin overcoat was walking down the road and trying to ask for a ride from the passing cars. Unluckily, there was no driver willing to stop their cars. When I saw two cars in front of me pass him by, I wanted to do the same. But the sight of that poor man remained in my mind for quite a moment. I felt as if a big hand was dragging me and forcing me not to leave. Finally I drew back and gave him a ride.
As I drove along, we had a conversation, during which he told me something about himself and his

family. I learnt that the man was doing everything he could to support his family using the limited salary from several part-time jobs. As you could imagine, every coin he earned was going to be used to pay for the house and food.
It was a long drive before we got to his home. All the way, I could feel his hardship and tiredness. But as we came close to the house where he was living, I saw his tired eyes grow bright and the whole body was lit up. His lovely girl was playing in the front yard. Seeing her father was out of the car, she ran to him as quickly as possible, reaching out her two small hands. He held the girl with his two strong hands, laughing and kissing her cheeks. I was lost in that happy moment. I smiled, said goodbye to them, wished them the future happiness and then drove off.

Because every night when I got home, she had fallen asleep and the next morning when I left, she was still in her dream. I felt quite sorry for everything I had done before.
Half an hour later, I got home. My daughter was shocked to see me go home so early. But quickly a big smile spread on her face. She put down her toy, flew to me and hugged me tightly. “Dad, am I dreaming?” she asked. “Of course not. ” I told her what had happened today and promised to spend more time with her and her mom as they are the most valuable treasures in the world to me.
