When a person in the United States gets the COVID-19 vaccine(疫苗),the person receives a small piece of paper called a“COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card”。
It is a piece of paper with the logo of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC,and the name and date of the vaccine. Because it is so simple, it could be easy to fake(假冒)。
Many people in the U.S. are still unsure about getting the vaccine. As universities, workplaces and other places are requiring proof of vaccination, some people are now buying fake vaccination cards without getting a shot.
The Associated Press reports that students and teachers at universities around the U.S.are worriedabout fake cards. Sellers are using social media apps like Instagram to advertise fake vaccination cards. The prices range from $25 to $200.The AP notes that many college students seem interested in buying the.cards.On the site Reddit, one person-wrote,"I need one, too, for college.I refuse to.be-a guinea pig." It is reported that more than 700 universities and colleges require proof of vaccination. Most schools simply ask their students to take a photo of their card and send it to a school website.Benjamin Mason Meier is a professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, UNC.He studies international health policy. He said, unlike some countries, the U.S. is not using a digital system to record vaccine status. He said the U.S. is depending on “a flimsy paper card”, and students have told him they knew of others who had used fake vaccination cards. Rebecca Williams also works at UNC. She is a researcher at the school's Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. She said she was not surprised that people were worried about fake vaccination cards. “This is why I think the development of a reliable national digital vaccine passport app is very important,” she said.
There is a law that should prevent people from making false vaccination cards. If someone uses the CDC logo without permission, they can be fined and punished by up to five years in prison. The U.S. Department of Justice recently charged a person in California with making fake vaccination cards.
College students who already have the vaccine are criticizing those who would rather spend money to buy a fake than get a free shot. Maliha Reza is an electrical engineering student at Pennsylvania State University. She called those students “dumb”。 “I'm angry about that,” she said. “Like, there is more anger than I could describe now.”
24. Why do some college students buy fake vaccination cards?
A. They are easy to get.
B. Many Americans are still uncertain about getting the vaccine.

D. To get a vaccine shot is expensive.

A. Having a law that should prevent people from making false vaccination cards
B. Developing a reliable national digital vaccine passport app.
C. Using a digital system to record vaccine status.
D. Having all the students take a photo of their vaccination card and send it to the school website
26. What does the underlined word “flimsy” probably mean?
A.Weak.

Online, English has become a common language for users from around the world. In the process, the language itself is changing. There are now thought to be some 4.5 billion web pages worldwide. Some language experts predict that within 10 years English will occupy the internet — but in forms very different to what we accept and recognize as English today.
That’s because people who speak English as a second language already outnumber native speakers. And increasingly, they use it to communicate with other non-native speakers, particularly on the internet where less attention is paid to grammar and spelling and users don’t have to worry about their accent (口音).
Users of Facebook already socialize in a number of different “Englishes” including Indian English, Spanish English and Korean English. While these different styles have long existed within their cultures, they’re now expanding and coming online. Technology companies are introducing newly-developed English words with products aimed at enabling users to add words that are not already in the English dictionary. And most large companies have English websites, while smaller businesses are learning that they need a common language — English — to reach global customers.
The increasing popularity of the internet allows more languages to develop quickly.
“Most people actually speak several languages — it’s less common to only speak one,” says Mr. Munro. “English has taken its place as the world’s common language, but it’s not pushing out other languages.” Instead, other languages are pushing their way into English, and in the process creating something new.
28. What does the text mainly talk about?
A. English is a common language around the world.
B. There are now many different language styles.
C. English language is developing with the Internet.
D. Smaller businesses are learning a common language.
29. Which of the following is NOT true about online communication?
A. People need to spell exactly.
B. Grammar is not so important.
C. People do not care about their accent.
D. Most English-speakers are not native speakers.
30. What can we infer from the text?
A. We can only communicate online in English.
B. It’s impossible to find all the English words in the dictionary.
C. Some technology companies start to publish English dictionaries.
D. Smaller businesses are not allowed to have English websites.
31. What can we learn from what Mr. Munro said?
A. The other languages are enriching English.
B. One can’t live well without speaking several languages.
C. English will become the only language in the world.
D Chinese used to be the world’s common language.

The hike to the lost Incan city of Choquequirao is one of the most difficult in Peru. From the town of Cachora, which is 161km west of Cusco, it's an 18km walk to Capuliyoc Mountain, then down to Playa Rosalina, where travellers camp for the night. Waking early, travelers then have to cross the Apurímac River and walk uphill to camp close to the ruins. Then, the next morning, it's another 2km walk up to the ruins, 3, 100m above sea level. To get back? Well, it's the same way you came.
“I've had people in their 60s and 70s do it,” said Juan Barrios, a guide from the Adventure Life company. “But some people come out thinking that because it's only 28km from the drop off they can do it in a day. Six or seven days for the hike is best.”
It makes sense, then, that Choquequirao draws only about 30 people a day during the high season (June through August). Compare that to the 2, 500 people who arrive each day at the famous Incan city of Machu Picchu.
But for those who make the journey, the rewards (回报) are great: beautiful mountain views at every turn, and the chance to explore the wonderful ruins nearly alone.
Believed to be created around the same time as Machu Picchu, in 1445, Choquequirao is actually larger than better-known Machu Picchu. But very little has been written about Peru's other lost city and researchers are still uncovering new parts of the ruins, leaving life on the mountain relatively untouched.
But officials say that the building of the first cable car (缆车) to Choquequirao will shorten the several-day walk to a 15-minute cable car ride. As a result, the number of travellers that now make the journey each week could turn into 3,000 visitors per day.
Choquequirao is beautiful now because of how untouched it is. Even though the lost city was discovered by Spanish explorer Juan Arias Díaz in 1710, the ruins still make you feel as though you're the first to find them. Will it be the same when more travellers flood in (大量涌入)?
32. What does the first paragraph centre on?
A. How tall Choquequirao is. B. How to get to Choquequirao easily.
C. What great views Choquequirao has. D. How hard the trip to Choquequirao is.
33. In what way is Choquequirao different from Machu Picchu?
A. Choquequirao is older. B. Choquequirao is quieter.
C. Choquequirao is smaller. D. Choquequirao is better known.
34. How are the ruins of Choquequirao?
A. They're still being dug out. B. They're in a generally poor condition.
C. They're being renewed at the moment. D. They've been researched internationally.
35. What does the author think of Choquequirao in the future?
A It will be more attractive.
B. It will develop at a slow speed.
C. It won't necessarily take a turn for the better.
D. It won't be more popular than Machu Picchu.

You’re standing at a city bus stop, waiting for a bus to arrive. You wait and wait. ____36____ But you haven’t seen one for at least 20 minutes. Finally, a bus full of people arrives. Just as you try to squeeze yourself in, you see another bus coming down the street, and another one behind it!
What’s going on? Why do buses always seem to come in bunches (成群) instead of at regular intervals (间隔) ?
____37____ They say that passengers tend to remember the few times when more than one bus arrives at a stop and to forget the many more times when a bus arrives alone.
However, experts who study traffic say that bunching really can happen quite easily. ____38____ If each stop had the same number of passengers waiting, the buses would keep to their schedule. But usually there are many people at a few stops and no one at others.
Suppose many people happen to gather at a particular stop. ____39____ So it gets delayed and the bus behind it catches up a bit. When the second bus arrives at the same stop, there has been less time for passengers to assemble (聚集), so the bus goes on its way quickly. Meanwhile, the first bus arrives at its next stop a little later than usual, so there’s been more time for passengers to join the crowd. ____40____ Once one bus catches up with the other bus, the two buses end up travelling together. If the route is a long one, a third bus could eventually catch up with the first two.
Check it out the next time you hop (跳上) a bus!
A. There’s supposed to be a bus every 10 minutes.
B. But you don’t know the exact time the bus will arrive.
C. The problem is the different numbers of people at the stops.
D. Some people claim that bus bunching doesn’t happen very often.

Hans replied, “Mother, I have to go.What if everyone said he can't go, let someone else do it? Mother, this time I have to do my duty. When the call for service comes , we all need to take our turn and do our part.”Although his mother still hoped her son could change his mind, Hans kissed his mother, joined the team and disappeared into the night.
After what seemed a century, the rescue boat finally broke through the thick fog , with Hans standing up in the bow(船头), waving to the waiting crowds. On seeing the boat, the crowd, who had been waiting with anxiety, now burst into cheers. All the people went up to welcome the rescue team. Cupping his hands, the captain called, “did you find the lost man?” Hardly able to control himself, Hans excitedly cried back, “Yes, we found him. Tell my mother it's my elder brother, Paul!”
