    Module 10  A holiday journey

    Unit 2  This morning we took a walk.

    设计说明

    本单元是读写课。谈论的话题是假期旅行。free talk开始,导入话题,同时复习一般过去时。通过贴近学生生活的旅行这一话题引出a holiday journey的话题。通过观看巴黎著名旅游景点的视频或图片可以激发学生的学习热情,同时也增加了学生对异国文化的了解,开阔了学生的视野通过略读、找读和细读获取文章的主要信息。Group workPair workIndividual work等不同形式的活动可充分调动学生的积极性,也使学生学习循序渐进,有助于自主学习能力的培养。

    教学目标

    通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标:

    掌握单词和短语:arrive, relax, world-famous, French, sell, top, till, light, on, wonderful, palace

    2.能力目标:

    1能运用“细节理解”策略和“整体理解”技能阅读文章,读懂描述旅行经历的文章,完成阅读练习。

    2能根据文章的形式,描述自己或他人的一次旅行经历。

    3.情感目标:

    了解世界历史文化名城巴黎,培养学生对不同文化的兴趣和了解。通过体验和分享旅行的快乐, 培养学生热爱生活、享受生活的乐观态度。

    重点难点

    重点:能读懂以一般过去时为主要语法项目描述旅行经历的文章。

    难点:运用一般过去时描述过去的旅行经历。

    教学准备

    PPT 课件;有关法国巴黎的图片或视频;活动1的录音。

    教学过程

    Step 1  Free talk

    Ask the students to answer the questions. Review the simple past tense.

    1 Where did you go last winter holiday?

    2 How did you go there?

    3 How long did you stay there?

    4 Did you have a good time?

    Step 2  Presentation

    1. Show some pictures about the teachers holiday journey, and lead in the new words .

    arrive v. 到达

    relax v. 放松

    world-famous adj. 举世闻名的

    French adj. 法国的;法语的n. 法国人;法语

    sell v. (sold) 卖;出售

    top n. 顶端

    till conj. 直到······为止

    light n. 电灯

    on adv. 在使用中;开着的

    wonderful adj. 绝妙的;了不起的

    palace n. 宫殿

    2. Show some pictures about Paris and learn something about Paris. Show some names of the famous places of Paris to lead in the text.

      

     

     Step 3  Reading

    1. Pre-reading.

    Let the students know something about the email through from, sent, to and 

    subject. Make sure the students know that the subject will tell them the 

    main idea of the passage.

    Ask the students:

    (1) Who is the email to?

    (2) What is it about?

    Answers: (1) Grandma.  (2) Its about Bettys holiday in Paris.

    2. Fast reading

    Ask the students to read the passage. Find the paragraph according to the time. And then check their answers.

    3. Careful reading.

    (1) Read the passage carefully, and then write T(true) or F(fause). Check the answers in pairs.

       1 Betty arrived in Paris two days ago.

    2 She took a tour in the city the day before yesterday.

    3 They took the Paris underground today.

    4 They waited for three hours to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

    5 Tomorrow they are going to take a boat tour on the River Seine.

    Answers:1-5 TFTFT

    (2) Read Para.1 and answer the questions. And then check the answers in groups.

    1 When did they arrive in Paris?

    2 How did they go there?

    3 Did they begin their travel the day before yesterday?

    Answers: 1 Wednesday /The day before yesterday.

             2 By plane.

             3 No, they didnt.

    (3) Read Paras.2-4 and fill in the blanks. Check the answers together.

    Yesterday

     Yesterday, they ____ ____ the Louvre Museum____ lots of ____ ____ of art such as the Mona Lisa. They ____ _____in a French restaurant.

    Answers: went to, with, world-famous works, had dinner

    Today

     This morning, they ____ ____ ____ (walk) and ____ ____ ____ (shop). She ____ a present.

     This afternoon, they ____ ____ _____ to the Eiffel Tower. First of all, they had to ____ _____ ______for an hour. Then, they went to the ____. They ____ till the lights ____ ____.

    Answers: took a walk, did some shopping, bought, took the underground,  wait in line, top, waited, were on

    (4)Read Para.5 and answer the questions. Check the answers in pairs.

     1 What are they going to do tomorrow?

     2 When will she come back?

    Answers:

    1 They are going to visit a famous palace and take a boat tour.

    2 We don’t know.

    Step 4  Practice

    1. Complete the diary with notes in Activity 2. Check the answers in groups.

      Answers:

    Yesterday: went to the Louvre Museum; had dinner in a French restaurant

    This morning: took a walk; did some shopping; bought a present

    This afternoon and evening: went to the Eiffel Tower

    2. Answer the questions in Activity 3. Answer the questions in pairs.

    1 Who met Betty at the airport?

    2 What did she see in the Louvre Museum?

    3 Where did she go this morning?

    4 When did they go to the Eiffel Tower?

    5 How did they get to the Eiffel Tower?

    Answers: 1 Her aunt and uncle met her at the airport.

    2 She saw the Mona Lisa.

    3 She went to the shops and street markets.

    4 They went to the Eiffel Tower at about three o’clock.

    5 They went there by underground.

    3. Complete the passage with the correct form of the words from the box in Activity 4. 

    Answers: (1) date  (2) arrived  (3) French  (4) till  (5) relaxed  (6) top

    4. Retell the passage in groups.

    Step 5  Language points

    1. Jenny and I arrived by plane the day before yesterday. 我和珍妮前天坐飞机到的。

    arrive后接大地方(城市国家等)需加介词in,接小地方(车站机场等)需加介词at,此时可与get to互换。

    They will arrive in New York at noon. 他们中午将到达纽约。

    We arrived at the station five minutes later. 五分钟后我们到达了车站。

    2. It has many world-famous works of art, such as the Mona Lisa. 那里有很多世界闻名的艺术品,譬如《蒙娜 丽莎》。

    1work此处意为作品,是可数名词work of art 艺术品

    That cake is a real work of art! 那个蛋糕简直就是一件艺术品!

    2句中的such as表示例如,用来举例,要用在句子当中,不能单独使用。

    Tourists like to visit historic places in China, such as Beijing and Xi’an.

    游客喜欢参观中国那些历史悠久的地方,例如北京和西安。

    3. They sell such good fruit and vegetables.他们卖的水果、蔬菜非常好。

    sell作动词,意为,其过去式为sold。常用sell sb. sth. sell sth. to sb. 表示卖给某人某物

    Little Mary wanted to sell Little Tommy an eraser.

    = Little Mary wanted to sell an eraser to Little Tommy.

    小玛丽想要卖给小汤姆一块橡皮。

    4. We had to wait in line for an hour.我们不得不排了一个小时的队。

    wait in line 排队等候

    It’s not very exciting to wait in line for so long.

    排队等这么长时间可不是什么好玩的事情。

    5. Tomorrow we’re going to visit a famous palace… I’ll write again.明天我们将去参观一个著名的宫殿······我会再写给你。

    句中be going to do sth.will do sth.都可以用来表示将来时。

    I am going to visit Beijing next month.

    下个月我要去游览北京。

    When will the sports meeting?运动什么时候?

    Step 6  Writing

    1. Look at the pictures in Activity 5. Talk about Daming and Lingling’s holiday. And then write sentences about Daming and Lingling’s holiday.

    Possible answers:

    1 On Tuesday, they visited a museum.

    2 On Wednesday, they went for a walk in the countryside.

    3 On Thursday, they had lunch in a café.

    2. Write an email to the teacher about your holiday journey.

    Step 7  Homework

    1. Retell the passageThis morning we took a walk.

    2. Review the words and expressions of Unit 2.

    3. Finish the exercises of this unit.
