It is very child-friendlyBIn our daily lives, we probably make silly mistakes. While these moments can be worrying, they can also be handled with humor. When we share a laugh at our mistakes, we can calm ourselves down with a thread of understanding and acceptance. When one morning in a rush to school, I spilled (泼洒) my cup of orange juice. I immediately thought of the precious minutes I would have to spend in cleaning up the floor. I raced back and forth to the sink (洗碗槽)with a kitchen cloth soaked (浸透)with juice to wash off. My legs were shaking as I watched from my window the school bus coming to my street. Within a minute, I had thrown the orange juice-soaked cloth to the sink and ran outside to join the group of kids in entering the bus. When thinking about my morning rush to clean up the spilled juice on the bus, I realized how much unnecessary stress and worry I put myself through. I ended up smiling to myself about my minor nervousness over spilled juice. These days I don’t usually spill orange juice, but I do sometimes spill a bit of spaghetti sauce on my pant or put on my sweater backwards when I’m really tired and in a hurry for school. In each of my mistakes, I try to remind myself not to take myself so seriously. It takes me a minute to calm down, take a deep breath and smile at my carelessness. It is the ability to see mistakes in a different way that enables me to find humor in everyday moments.Humor, however, doesn’t always have to arise from silly mistakes. Kids may have a good laugh at comic books, classic jokes and stories told by friends and parents. What matters more is not where you find the humor in life, but that you can appreciate it.24.When we make mistakes in our daily lives, we ________. A. should treat them properly B. may try to enjoy ourselves C. must know the value of them D. had better forget them in time25.What did the author do before going to school in Paragraph2? A. He prepared breakfast busily. B. He had some clothes washed. C. He made a cup of orange juice. D. He did some cleaning at home.26.We can learn from Paragraph 3 that the author____________. A. makes many mistakes now and then B. tries to keep himself calm with humor C. has been used to being busy every day D. always makes other people around happy27.What does the author intend to tell us? A. We should try to find where humor lies. B. We can be happy by enjoying humor. C. It is natural for us to make mistakes. D. Reading is a good habit for every person. CWhat kind of amusing activities will you participate in during your life? Will you be spending your free time doing safe sports with little danger or will you always be one of the first people to try the next popular extreme activity? Scientists have been interested in finding out why some people seem to prefer dangerous activities.Researchers have found that men often try to impress other people by proving that they are courageous and fearless, and they are more likely to take risks when people are watching them or when they are competing against other men. Research also shows that as people get older they usually behave more responsibly and try not to take unnecessary risks. In addition, when people are in stable relationships, they seem to be less attracted to daring activities. Some people seem to be more daring than others, but there are many different types. Do they take all types of risk? Psychologists have identified a number of categories(种类) of risks. These include financial risks, risks related to health and safety, amusing risks and social risks. Psychologists discover that just if a person enjoys bungee jumping, it doesn’t mean he or she will take chances when investing money or that he or she will tell a joke to a group of strangers.Interestingly, research shows that in most cases men are less cautious than women, but women take more social risks than men. Men are more likely to make career changes as they get older and to express unpopular opinions in business meetings.Yet, at the end of the day, the probability of particular people taking a risk depends on what type of people they belong to. In general, optimistic people are more likely to take risks because they focus on the possible positive outcomes (结果) of their actions. On the other hand, pessimistic people are the complete opposite.28.Why do men try to prove they are brave according to the research?A. To attract people’s attention. B. To take on more responsibility.C. To make favorable impressions on people. D. To develop stable relationships with others.29.What does the example of bungee jumping indicate?A. There are more than one type of risk. B. Bungee jumping is dangerous, but popular.C. People take one type of risk, but not another. D. Some people are more courageous than others.30.What have researchers discovered about women?A. They are willing to take risks. B. They are always changing jobs.C. They are good at doing business. D. They are usually more conservative (保守的) than men.31.What mainly determine whether people take risks possibly?A. Their personalities (性格). B. Their financial conditions.C. Their social relationships. D. Their expectations of outcomes. DIt is not a fair fight, but it is a fight that many countries will face all the same. Left to itself, the covid-19 pandemic(流行病) doubles every five to six days. When you get your next issue of The Economist, the outbreak could in theory have infected twice as many people as today. It’s high time that some comprehensive action should be taken as the pandemic threatens an economic crisis as well as a health crisis. While most governments across the world, with no specific medicine or vaccine (疫苗) available at the moment, are being left flat-footed, WHO has learned lessons from China for how health-care systems should cope(处理,对付). Governments should also figure out how to protect people and companies. The first task is to get manpower and money to hospitals. China sent 40,000 health workers to Hubei province. This week the World Bank made $ 12 billion available for covid-19.Just as important is to slow the spread of the disease by getting patients to come forward for testing when outbreaks are small and possible to contain. But this can be hard as in many countries, including much of America, where 28 million people are without health coverage and many more have to pay for a large slug(一大块)of their own treatment. People also need to isolate themselves if they have mild symptoms.Better to support the economy directly, governments can help affected people and firms pay bills and borrow money if they need it. For individuals, the priority should be paying for health care and providing paid sick leave. For companies that lose income, they will still face tax and wage bills. Easing that burden for as long as the epidemic lasts can avoid needless bankruptcies and lay-offs. Authorities’ paying medical bills and funding banks to lend to firms that are suffering can definitely help. There is a tension. Health policy aims to spare hospitals by lowering the epidemic’s peak so that it is less intense, if longer-lasting. Economic policy, by contrast, aims to minimize how long factories are shut and staff absent.Eventually governments will have to strike a balance.32. How often is The Economist updated?A. Daily. B. Weekly. C. Monthly. D. Yearly.33. What does the underlined word “flat-footed” mean in the second paragraph?A. Scared. B. Helpless. C. Careless. D. Embarrassed.34. What’s the main idea of the last paragraph?A. The tension(紧张,不安)prevents the health policy and economic policy from working well.B. Health policy may make this pandemic last longer.C. Economic policy focuses on helping factories reopen as fast as possible.D. Governments should try to solve the contradiction between health policy and economic policy.35. What can be the best title for this passage?A. An unfair fight.B. The right medicine for the world economy during pandemic.C. Measures to protect people and economy.D. The tension between health policy and economic policy.第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。How to listen in English examsListening is an important but difficult part for middle school students in English exams. I’ve always loved running, so I was really happy when I found out I lived next to Central Park. This meant that every morning I could go for a run before I went to work.Because a lot of people had told me to be careful of robbers in the park, so usually I didn’t take anything with me. How could they rob me if I didn’t have anything? But one morning, my wife gave me a $ 10 bill and asked me to buy some bread on the way.It was a beautiful morning and the park was quiet with very few people walking or jogging (慢跑)around. While I was running through the park, another jogger knocked into me. He apologized and continued running. For a while, I didn’t think too much of it. However, when I noticed the wide path where I was running, I thought it was kind of strange. The warning of robbers in the park occurred to me. “It could have been a robber!” I suddenly became alarmed, so I checked my pocket and found that the money was missing. Without thinking twice, I ran after that jogger. I finally caught up and held him by the arm. I shouted, “Give me the $ 10 bill! Now!” I am not usually a hot-headed(性急的) person, but I got really angry this time. I couldn’t believe the robbery was actually happening to me. Filled with anger, I shook my fist at him. This seemed to frighten him. He quickly put his hand in his pocket and gave me the money. Then he ran away as fast as he could.I bought the bread and went home. As soon as I got home, I couldn’t wait to tell my wife my story. “You won’t believe what happened to me,” I started with pride. She immediately stopped me, “I know, you left the money for the bread on the kitchen table.”注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。Paragraph 1Looking at the money on the table, I stood there, shocked. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2:For several days, I waited at the same spot. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________参考答案第一部分 听力1-5 BACBA 6-10 CBCAA 11-15 BACBC 16-20 ABCAC第二部分 阅读理解21-23 DCD24-27 ADBB28-31 CCDA32-35 BBDB七选五36-40 GAFDE第三部分 语言运用完形填空41-45 BADBD 46-50 ABACC 51-55 DBACB 语法填空56 was; 57 to increase; 58 numbers; 59 by; 60 compared61 older; 62 particularly; 63 a; 64 be placed; 65 and第四部分 写作第一节 应用文写作参考范文:With College Entrance Examination approaching, many of us are under much pressure fromstudy and therefore have developed an unhealthy lifestyle, studying deep into night, rushingthrough meals and taking little physical exercise, which is extremely harmful to our health. For the rest of the day, I felt extremely guilty, with the innocent jogger and his “helplessness" on my mind. “How could I be so rude to him without knowing the truth? Why was it that the jogger gave me the money? I still remember his frightened face when I scared him away like a monster. I decided to find a chance to apologize to him. The next morning, I got up and went to the park as usual, but not for jogging. I just hung around where I met that jogger, but in vain.Paragraph 2:For several days, I waited at the same spot. But to my disappointment, he didn't turn up. It was almost a week later before I finally spotted him again. I, the “robber”, gave the $10 bill back to him and said sorry to him again and again. Fortunately, he forgave me for what I had done to him and said, “Oh, it doesn't matter.” Many years have passed, but I can still feel my cheeks burning with shame. M: Why don’t you eat at the university cafeteria? It’s not too expensive. Text 2W: May I have a look at this handbag, please?M: Sorry, madam. It is a sample for show. This kind of handbag is out of stock. Text 3M: Here are two magazines and three books. How long can I keep them, madam?W: Magazines only for one week, and you can keep the books for another two weeks. M: OK. I’ll return them on time. Text 4W: That’s serious sunburn you’ve got during the holiday, Sam. M: I know. We had a lot of fun in the water and played beach volleyball. Text 5W: Did you hear that the convenience store at the street corner was robbed last night?M: Yes, I saw it on the news. Now even this neighborhood isn’t safe!Text 6M: Did you buy anything in town yesterday?W: Yes, I bought this amazing red bag and a fantastic new skirt. M: Oh, is that it? It’s a lovely blue color. W: Not this one. I’ve had this skirt for months. I actually saw two that I loved. I tried on a beautiful green silk skirt and a bright yellow one as bright as your shirt. They were both great and weren’t very expensive but the yellow one was too small, so I got the other one. Text 7W: That is really great — their music is excellent. M: Yes. I can’t believe this is their last show. W: They’re going to put out a film of it later on, but it’s such a shame that they won’t be on stage together any more. This band doesn’t have many members but their performance is just amazing. M: It will be on DVD as well I suppose. I’ll definitely buy that though it won’t be as good as tonight. W: Better than nothing, though. Text 8M: I’m going whitewater (急流) boating this weekend, Mary. And one of my buddies, Phil — you know Phil, don’t you?W: Uh-huh. M: Well, Phil can’t go because he hurt his back playing soccer, so there’s room for one more. You want to go with us?W: Are you kidding? I’ve never gone whitewater boating. M: Aw, come on. There’s a mini-course being given by the Explorers’ Club Wednesday night this week. Take it and you’ll be ready to go with us. W: No way! I’ll never learn enough in two hours to go on a trip for a whole weekend!M: Sure you can! The instructor is great. I know of lots of people who’ve done it. W: Well, it’s probably not such a good idea, but how much does it cost?M: Well, the trip will cost you $150 with everything — food, equipment, everything. The course is only 20 bucks. W: That’s not too bad. I’ll think about it. Text 9W: Excuse me, sir. You look like you’re looking for something. Can I help you find anything?M: Yes. The way things are organized here is really different than usual. Did you guys change some stuff around or something?W: Yes, we made some changes. For example, the area we’re standing in used to be the bakery, and the meat section was on the other side of the store, but we changed those locations about two weeks ago. And now the meat section is in the back of the store. M: No wonder. I come here once a month. W: What do you think of the way it looks?M: Well, to be honest, it’s not as easy for me to find the things I need. I like the old way better. W: Well, I’ll keep it in mind and bring it up with my manager. Is there anything I could help you find?M: I really need some items for the bathroom. Where would I find those?W: On Goods Shelf 4. The entire shelf is filled with things for the bathroom. M: Great! I’m also looking for some oranges, but I can see the fruit section just to the left over there. I’ll let you know if I need any more help. Text 10W: I was born before my sister Stacy — two minutes and 58 seconds before her, to be exact! I’ve always been really proud to be the older one. We are twins, but we don’t look the same. There are some twins who look alike and others who don’t. And our personalities couldn’t be more different. I’m outgoing and loud, and I play sports whenever I can. My sister is quiet and shy, and she prefers to read books. We grew up in the Midwest — our parents were both professors at the University of Chicago. Personally, I feel lucky that our parents didn’t try to do silly things like dressing us up in the same clothes when we were little. As kids, my sister and I developed our own language that only we could understand. It made our parents so angry, and that only made us use it more! I can still remember that day my sister and I left for colleges on opposite sides of the country — her to Harvard and me to Stanford. Both places seemed really far away. I felt like our lives would change forever, but they didn’t. We’re now in our mid-thirties, and we’ve never been closer!
