While visitors are allowed to take the stairs to the first two levels, the platform can only be got to by taking the elevators.

The world has lost one of its brightest stars. British physicist Stephen Hawking dies on March 14,2018,at the age of 76.

Hawking is probably the worlds most famous scientist after Albert Einstein. He is an expert on black holes and the Big Bang Theory. He has devoted his whole life to digging into the beginning (and the end) of the universe. His 1988 book A Brief History of Time, which contains his understanding of the universe, is one of the biggest-selling science books of all time.

My goal is simple,Hawking once said.It is to completely understand the universe, why it is as it is and why it is there at all.

Hawkings achievements are even greater if you think about his disability. When he was 21, Hawking caught a bad illness that slowly stopped him from moving or talking. For a period of time he had no way to communicate except by blinking (眨眼).Later he sat on a wheelchair with a computer by his side.To communicate, he moved two fingers to control of the computers mouse. He selected his words from the screen, which were then spoken by a voice synthesizer(语音合成器)

I have had the disease for most of my life,Hawking once said.Yet it has not stopped me from being successful at my work.

Though Hawking was a disabled man, he made great achievements. He received many awards and prizes for his work during his lifetime. This included winning the Albert Einstein Award, which stands for the highest achievement in theoretical physics,

Despite the fact that lice an longer with us,  his legacy will surely live on. As Sajid Javid, a UK government minister, put it, A brief history on Earth; an eternity in the stars.

    A.The physics.    B.The stars.   C.The universe.   D.The time.

    A.The universe.    B.The earth.   C.The goal.  D.The black hole.

30.According to the text ,which of the following statements is TRUE?'

A.Hawking received many awards and prizes except the Albert Einstein Award.

B.The illness kept him from moving and talking.

C.He communicated with others by speaking.

D.The illness stopped him from being successful.

    31. What can we know about Hawking from Sajid Javids words?

A.The history of the earth is too short.

B.The stars in the universe are eternal.

C.His book A Brief History of Time is too short.

    D

Being compared to great people like Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein is not something that happens to the average person. At the age of just 23,Sabrina Gonzalez Pasterski has already achieved much more goals than most of us ever will in our lifetime.

When she was only 14 years old,the Chicago girl made her own single engine airplane——by herself. She then flew it across Lake Michigan, becoming the youngest person to ever fly their own plane.

She graduated from Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA)in 2010 and entered Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

At first, she had to wait to be accepted into the school, but once Professors Allen Haggerty and Earll Murman watched her video they had no doubt.Femalista quoted Haggerty as saying: After just three years at MIT she has already achieved the highest possible grade point average of 5.0.

She is now studying further at Harvard University, with full academic freedom.Once again she is only 23 years old.

What's even more impressive is that she is no longer interested in building planes but has turned her attention to physicsnamely black holes and how gravity (重力)affects space and timethat is why she is being compared to Einstein and Hawking.

Pasterski records all of her work on her website Physics Girl, but if you are a little shocked by her achievements, she has some words for you.

During an interview with Marie Claire earlier this year she said,Being optimistic about what you believe you can do.When you're little, you say a lot of things about what you'll do or be when you're olderI think it's important not to forget those dreams.

    1. Why does the author mention Einstein and Hawking at the beginning?
    1. To honour the two scientists. B.To compare the two scientists.

C.To bring out the key character. D.To introduce their achievements.

33.What can we infer from Haggerty's words?

    B.He thought highly of Pasterski.

C.He had some doubt about Pasterski.

D.Pasterski had average grades at college.

34.What is even more impressive about Pasterski?

A.She has full academic freedom at Harvard.

B.She records all of her work on her website.

C.She becomes the youngest person to fly a plane.

D.She is interested in some special fields of physics.

35.According to Pasterski, which are the important qualities that people need to succeed?

    A.Independence and concentration.

    B.Concentration and optimism.

    C.Optimism and determination.

    D.Friendliness and determination.

    第二节  根据对话内容,从对话后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项.(每小题2.5分,共12.5.

    How to Love Your Parents

Even if you think that your parents are mean-spirited at times, loving your parents is a normal and fulfilling part of life. You love then for the fact that they created you, raised you, and are in part, a source of who you are.36_

Tell them you love them every morning. A gentlegood morningandI love youwill warm a coldest heart. Remember that they brought you into this world. Without your parents, you might still wander at an unknown corner in an unknown world.

Respect them more and cherish these moments. You can use these moments to learn from them, preparing yourself for when you're off on your own. It's OK to get angry but angry actions don't help you or your parents. Act calmly, cool off, write down your feelings, or talk to a friend.37

Obey their requests. It will make your attitude better and earn you more respect from them. It may seem like you are going through hell when you don't get what you want or you have to clean. However, you had better remember they keep a roof over your head when it's cold, raining, snowing, or too hot. Understand that parents are human beings and make mistakes.38__Since you can forgive your friends, why not forgive your parents?

Keep company with them. Do things with your parents like watching TV, or going somewhere with them.39     Listen to their old stories and learn from them. You will find they are your teachers in this way or another.

Some people simply may not be able to love their parents.40_Seek help if you are being abused in any way.Parents do not have a right to harm you.

A.Parents will in turn express their love to you.

    B.Forgiveness is the key.

C.Here are some ways to love your parents.

D.There can be realistic reasons for this, family violence for example

    E. Anyway, spend as much time with them as you can.

F.After this, share your feeling with your parents.

G.Please remember parents are as important as friends.
