Hwever, what prevents these sensrs frm widespread use is hw t pwer them cntinually. Batteries are large, heavy and shrt-lived, and slar pwer desn’t wrk at night. Mre recently, researchers have lked t the human bdy itself t generate pwer.
Lu Yin, a scientist with the University f Califrnia, San Dieg, and his team turned t fingertip sweat. Our fingertips are hme t the highest cncentratin f sweat glands (腺体) n ur bdies. They make sweat cnstantly, regardless f whether yu’re exercising r nt. We typically dn’t ntice this sweat because it disappears almst instantly.
The new device, reprted in Jule, is just ne square centimeter in size. It captures sweat and can generate 300 millijules (毫焦耳) f energy per square centimeter during a night’s sleep. This is enugh t pwer a watch fr a day. What’s mre, if a persn wearing the device presses tw fingers tgether, it can prduce 30 millijules per square centimeter.
